Next to station - convenient for rail travellers

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Quiet room (ask for one that is in the centre block that has no street aspect).
Cons: Pillows very bulky - could have at least one that's thinner.
Location: Ideal for the station if you want to go out of town (eg to the lakes). Not so central if you want to do the shops, museums, cultural stuff.
Very helpful staff. Clean room. Spa out of action for planned maintenance but they did a deal with the hotel opposite for guests to use that one - shows good planning. Breakfast very, very expensive - I asked for a reduced rate if I agreed to have their breakfast every day of my stay, but it didn't work. So I used the many nice cafes nearby for breakfast.

Paid upgrade was a bad idea

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Centrally located. Loved being next to the train station
Cons: Rooms were not as luxurious as advertised.
We had two adults and one child, and we decided to purchase the upgrade to a junior suite. The room was two stories, but it was awkwardly shaped and had no more room that a regular room. Additionally, the room was at the end of the hall with a two story window which was really neat. However, the air conditioner could not keep up, and the room was uncomfortably warm when sleeping. Given the price of this hotel, I was very disappointed. When we checked out, I told the receptionist about the hot room and need to check the air conditioner. She said, "it works, but those rooms are just hot in the summer." I wish she had told me that when I spent EUR 130 per night more to upgrade!!!!

Dear Marion, Thank you for telling us about your experience at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. I am sorry to hear that you couldn't enjoy your upgrade because of the temperature in the room. Our air conditioning system is designed to meet European standards. This means that it cools the room down to at least 6 degrees below the outside temperature. Our duplex suite on the eighth floor offer great views over Munich or to the Alps. Should it ever be too warm in the suites to the south we are glad to offer a change of rooms to the other side whenever the booming situation allows. Please let us know immediately so that we can help right away. I hope that we will nevertheless welcome you again at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. Best regards Katja Herrmann Hotel Manager

Nice hotel next to a horrible 1950's train station

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Nothing stands out
Cons: Move the hotel to a better area nearer the city centre, a bigger bar area, it's quite small, the room decor is an acquired taste.
Location: the train station next door will make your eyes bleed, its horrible, nothing really close by always a taxi or u-bhan ride away, it's in a bad area
The hotel was nice but its in a pretty rough area with a few shady characters hanging around outside near the train station which is next door, we were given the typical Expedia room, next to the lift and no view, so we had a couple of nights of disturbed sleep due to the lift. The hotel doesn't really stand out from other upscale hotels which for a Sofitel is surprising and is no where near being as good as the Sofitel St James London

Luxury hotel close to all transportation.

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Rooms were excellent as well as services
Cons: Breakfast price of 31euros was exorbadent! Neighborhood is a little seedy, but safe.
Location: Close to all transportation
Modern rooms and facilities. Adjacent to the main train station, which is a huge plus for all transportation. Lots of snacks and food in the station, as well as a Starbucks. Trains, tams and subways are all available from here as well as a short walk to the city center. Hotel staff extremely helpful and knowledgable. Excellent concierges. Room was comfortable with all amenities that a 5 star hotel offers.

Very convenient and nice hotel

Posted Jun 17, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, room facility.
Cons: Lower the price of the breakfast?
Location: Hauptbahnhof, Karlsplatz, MariensPlatz.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in Munich. It is next to the Hauptbahnhof so it is extremely convenient. We booked a jr. suite, but they upgraded us to the Maisonette suite (8th floor) which is a split level so our son was very happy to get his own "space". The staff was very helpful and responded very quickly to our requests. The room and the beds were very comfortable. The rain shower with a bench was very soothing after long days of sight-seeing. A minor complaint is that the floor of the shower was not leveled properly so the water did not drain properly. Also, the buffet breakfast is quite expensive (35 euro/person).
