A bargain for the budget traveller
Stayed there for two days; two adults and a kid. Clean, neat and friendly. Small rooms, but they have what is needed. Extra plus for three proper beds in the triple room. Convenient location just a short walk from the Laim train station, which makes both city centre and airport easily accessible. Difficult to find better value for money in Munich for the budget traveller.

Hotel Tessin is a very basic, unassuming hotel in an office building very close to the Laim train station. Easy access to the train for getting around Munich was very convenient. It is also within walking distance of the Nymphenburg Palace, which is a great place for a walk. On the downside, the hotel is in a very run down office building and a little difficult to find. Two of the outlets in our room didn’t work, nor did the two lights in either side of the bed. The lock on the room door was also a bit unnerving. The door had to be locked with a key from the inside. If there had been an emergency that required a speedy exit, it would have been a very dangerous situation.

This hotel is part of a small mixed-use building that appears to contain offices for several other small businesses. The lobby is located on what would typically be called the second floor, i.e. the level that is immediately above the floor containing the building's main entrance. The staff were generally pleasant and accommodating, patiently tolerating my very poor and limited German and allowing me to enter my room a little earlier than the standard check-in time. The hotel also has an excellent location, just 3 stops west of the Oktoberfest site if you take one of the S-line trains or about 7 stops if you take the light rail. The facilities were adequate for sleeping and storing belongings.

Good location
Clean hotel not far from downtown. If you are visiting to party then this is a great hotel not far from the train station. There is a bar that plays loud music from maybe 9pm until midnight or so. But if you are out partying or really tired, you will not notice.

Well, we thought since it was just one night we would stay near our friend. But oh my. The place needs a rehab. Paint is peeling, a previous visitors cigarettes left on the porch, the pillows were lumpy and tiny, bed uncomfortable. If It wasn’t so late I would have left and found new accommodations despite being stuck with the bill.

No frills hotel for a short stay
Little hotel, conveniently located close to the S-Bahn, with great connection to the center of München. Room was small, but comfortable. The only thing I really did not like was that the room had no air-conditioning, nor one single fan, thus in the peak of summer one has to sleep with the window open. This proved to be a massive problem, as I was given a room with a window facing the bar next door, which meant I could not sleep until well past 2-3am every night...

I booked a room in the hotel about 6 hours before arrival since it showed up on the search on hotels.com. I got a confirmation email from hotels.com, but when I showed up-within the window of the check-in period, I couldn't even get inside no matter how many times I rang the bell at the entrance of the building. I had no data so had to find a wifi to connect to just to make a call to the hotel, and of course, no one picked up. I had to scramble to book another hotel to stay for the night

Very nice hotel for the value. Our room was clean and a very comfortable bed. Some pictures in other websites it shows how this hotel used to look but it’s been remodeled, rooms are very modern now. Only I didn’t like was that since I saw some reviews saying hotel was near the city, I thought it was like walking distance but instead t’s like 4-5 stops from marientplaz, which is the area with all the attractions. Other than the distance we had a great 2 days stay in this hotel recommended if you like to be out of all the tourist in central station.

Not worth it...
I don't even know where to start. The proximity to city centre is not even close to what Hotels.com said it was. We arrived to an office building with old buzzers that said to hit 1 for Hotel Tessin. After buzzing several times, the door was finally opened. We entered an elevator that was hardly big enough for 2 people. The hotel itself is outdated. Reception is a small, wood-panelled box. There is old bumpy and stained red carpet throughout the hotel and the wallpaper is also stained and peeling. The hallways were dark. We got to our room and it was not much better than the lobby. The sign said to dial "0" if we needed anything - there was no phone! We got the wifi password from the cleaning staff and immediately booked another hotel without even taking off our coats. Worst hotel I've ever seen.

Overnight in Munich
Hotel Garni Tessin is located on the first floor of an office / apartment block. The entrance is not particularly glamorous, and the tight hallways would be awkward for people carrying heavy luggage. The rooms are small but adequate, clean and well aired. Bed is comfortable and with good quality linens. The room also hosts a large 30" flatscreen TV. WiFi signal in the room was good. Snacks and refreshments including beer are available from a vending machine at reception. Hotel is located adjacent to Laim S-Bahn station, ca 250m walk giving quick and easy access to all of the city. Overall, as far as the City of Munich is concerned, this accommodation provides good value for money.

The Hotel is good, fair for the price, the location is a little away from downtown, but there is a train station near by, the lady on the lobby did not know much information about train schedules or tourist basic information.
