Good as an experience,shame about service.Posted Jun 23, 2014
I have travelled extensively but never stayed at a Ritz Carlton. I had high expectations, but was somewhat disappointed in the standard of service and facilities in the room. The staff were very pleasant, but whenever I ordered something in the restaurant or outside by the pool I seemed to wait an inordinately long time to receive anything. My room itself was very nice, but I have stayed in equally impressive 4 star hotels. In some cases the room facilities were better. As a female a dressing and make up areA is something I use. However, apart from the bathroom there was no where to apply make-up. The room ha a long full length mirror and a hair dryer, but to use you had to stand in a section of the hallway to look in the mirror. Not good for a. 5 star, granted I wasn't in a high price room, but I expected better overall.

A wonderful hotel on the coast.Posted Jun 9, 2014
This is the best hotel we have stayed. Stunning lobby. Very elegant with the friendliest staff ever. Would stay there again and recommend it to anyone. A must stay place if you are visiting Oman and Muscat.

Relaxing and Peaceful RetreatPosted May 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
We spent three nights at the Al Bustan Palace en route back to London from Thailand. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and focussed on the small details to enhance your stay (for example free mini bar, fresh fruit in rooms replenished each day, water and cool boxes provided at pool/beach). There are five swimming pools, direct access to the beach a good selection of restaurants, fitness centre and good selection of boutique shops. The hotel is situated amongst extensive gardens and located right on the beach with the dramatic mountains all around. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely return if we are passing through Muscat again.

Beautiful hotel, fabulous service!Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: The rooms are spacious and well equipped, very comfortable. The pool area and beach are beautiful and well maintained. The restaurants are excellent.
Location: We stayed in the hotel as we wanted a complete break for our week. It has everything you could want. Lovely beach, great pools, superb restaurants.
This was our second stay at the al bustan palace. This is a great place to have a relaxed and luxurious break. The hotel is beautiful, the staff can't do enough to make your stay memorable and pleasant - they are so friendly and helpful. The restaurants are fabulous with excellent quality food and great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and would certainly go back again. I celebrated my birthday whilst we were staying there and the staff were wonderful - complimentary cocktails, birthday cake and serenading waiters! I really can't fault them for anything. Even when there was a slight slip up with a lunch order one day the staff went out of their way to correct the error including a written card delivered to our room to apologise for the minor mistake. The mark of good customer service in my book is how well an organisation put things right when something goes wrong - in that case the Al Bustan Palace and their staff should be rated as excellent! I would recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone looking for a completely relaxing break in a wonderful setting. Simply wonderful!

Awesome.Posted Jan 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
Super service, amazing room and property. Fantastic buffet breakfast. We stayed in a lagoon room which was well worth the privacy and convenience – aside from the private deck exiting to the lagoon pool, we were down the hall from breakfast and exit to the beach. Service was great with water left in our car after valet, beers on the beach, prompt delivery of a converter to our room and late (off-season) checkout. Very convenient location for day trips to the wadis and Sur to the west, evenings in Muscat to the east. Loved it!

I have to say that I was very disappointed.Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The facilities are good and well sorted out, the lobby hall of the hotel.
Cons: The service and training to staff... The high cost doesn't fit with the quality of service
Location: It's all about enjoying the sea, the sand and the view in this location...
We love the Omani beach, whenevr we have a chance we drive from Dubai to Muscat for 5 hours just to enjoy the white sand, the clear blue water, sky and amazing mountains. Particularly in Bur Al Jissa "The Shangri La". This time, the Shangri La was fully booked, so we thought of indulging ourselves and stay at the Ritz Carelton. The experience was very disappointing as we thought that the hotel will be even better than the Shangri La. Everything takes a lot of time, the room was smelling very dusty, we asked for the room to be made and it was left dirty after few immature fixings here and there, the staff was clearly lacking training, they don't act as a 5 star hotel staff. This was our first stay @ the Ritz, maybe our benchmark "The Shangri La" was higher, but for sure, 3 & 4 star hotels can be better in the service. Even on our way back to Dubai, during the check out. The receptionest insisted to charge my card, although I tried to convince him that I have already paid for the room rate through expedia... He just charged like I wasn't even speaking to him and when I should him the expedia messages.. only then he took me seriously and tried to refund the room amount ...... I ended up charged twice !!!!!!!... ant till this moment trying to get my money back... THE STAFF LACKS HOSPITALITY AND PROFFESSIONAL TRAINING !!! Worst experience ever, would certainly recommend the Shangri La over this hotel

Sheer Paradise - What a wonderful place to stay!Posted Oct 14, 2013
Cons: Our stay was faultless.
Location: Peaceful location just a short trip from the centre of Muscat - a taxi trip to the Muttrah souk costs around 4 OMR.
This hotel is a dream come true. Starting with the lobby - what a beautiful setting to sit and listen to the soothing live music playing. I could have sat for hours listening to the violinist and pianist. The rooms were extremely comfortable, cleaned to a high standard and fresh fruit and soft drinks were left for us each day. The hotel facilities were great. We spent many hours at the lovely pool or snorkelling just off the hotel's beach. We actually found that we saw more fish whilst snorkelling off of the beach than we did when we booked a snorkelling trip to go down the coast. We managed to see a bit more of the surrounding coast as there was complimentary kayaks available as well as windsurfing equipment. The staff were very friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to help you. We ate at China Mood twice and had a sunset dinner on the beach at Beach Pavilion. At both restaurants we enjoyed the very friendly welcome, delicious food and good service. Al Bastan is located perfectly as it allows you to enjoy the quiet paradise of the hotel and is just a short taxi ride into the centre of Muscat. It was a perfect stay and we are so happy we picked it to enjoy our honeymoon. We can’t wait to go back!

Relaxing.Posted Jul 29, 2013
Fabulous hotel, pools and sea front. Quiet and luxurious. Unfortunately the cost of the restaurants were excessive, breakfast for three about £80. So would seek an alternative next time.
