Not bad for the money
This was my 2nd stay at Al-Madinah. Again it is off the beaten path in a construction contractor area. Then again Muscat does not have an entertainment area of bars, discos, restaurants like other countries. Thus with the exception of the mall hotels few to nothing is walkable. This hotel give a great price for those of you who already have malls at home, so the mall hotels are really not special to you. The only persistent issue is one of the South Asian front desk workers (this is not singling them out as they dominate the migrant labor industry) is intellectually challenged in terms of doing business at the Western standard. We are not talking about the elite and wealthy South Asians of the West here. The hotel hiring suggests lack of training or investment into the best workers. The WiFi lack of reliability can leave you stranded ... literally. We were trying to book tickets all night as the bad WiFi could not load a single site. Also Oman blocks WhatsApp voice and Viber completely. This can also leave you blind and possibly stranded without access to your loved ones. Aside, free breakfast is a plus.

Ok this place is in an area under construction and industrial. So it’s not much to find eats by foot. However - the off the path location makes it an absolute bargain. Why suffer like a imprisoned animal in a youth hostel when you can have this peaceful, quiet and AFFORDABLE room? The only downer was weird WiFi, the hotel blamed their server. In this day and age internet is crucial. Also be warned Oman is censoring/blocking Viber completely and WhatsApp voice. This can really ruin your trip too. Cheers.

This is a very good option for anyone working in Muscat on a monthly contract basis. It’s only 10 minutes drive from the CBD/Avenues Mall and the very helpful staff can help with car rentals and/or a local driver. Good food reasonably priced, pleasant pool area too.

Comfy location with good pool and tennis courts
Used this as a place to stay when visiting Muscat and only about a 20 mins walk to the Grand Mosque. Good facilities on site. Room was tidy, clean and bed comfortable and with air conditioning

Nice pool to swim laps, that was the best of the hotel. The location is terrible unless you are there for 1 night or going to work in a factory or site nearby, but also maybe it is better to find a hotel in a better location and drive to the work... It was my first time in oman, and I chose the place even after reading from other reviews that the location was bad, but since my first meeting in Muscat was nearby I thought what the heck, such bad location it can be: yes it is: Horrible.... Next time I will choose something closer to the city...

Room was rather small, not in a great location, one of two properties that belong to the Hotel Holiday Group in Oman. The other property, Hotel Muscat Holiday is quite a bit better, in Haay Al-Khuwair (more central).

The hotel is between the Airport and the attractions in Muscat. We rented a car so this hotel worked out perfectly for us. If you don't have your own car, you might end up spending a lot of money in taxi rides. The hotel is near Sultan Qabooos Mosque! Also, it is a bit tricky to find the hotel at first. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Great hotel for a quick stop in Muscat
Hotel was conveniently located approximately 10 minutes away from the airport, which made catching my flight at 7:00 am a simple task. The food located on the second floor is superb. It is an eclectic mix of Indian and Arabic food served buffet style, the service is great. The bar on the lobby floor is a little too small, however the bottle selection makes up for this. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to walk around Muscat, however due to my location, (the hotel being surrounded by construction sites) such a walk was impossible in the first place.

The hotel itself is nice, and as a single female traveler, I felt very comfortable staying there (despite the fact that most of the other guests were male). The staff were very helpful and nice, and service was very quick and efficient. The room was fine, although the mattress was pretty hard. The shower was very good with nice hot water and very good water pressure. The wifi is very fast, but VERY expensive (about $20/day). The outdoor pool was very nice, and usually empty during the day. The pool, tennis court, and fitness center got crowded at night when the business men returned from work. The fitness center was pretty nice with many options. The hotel can organize various tours (city, dolphin watching, sunset cruise, etc.), although they are pricey. The main problem with this hotel is the distance from anything touristy. A taxi from the hotel to the corniche/Mutrah Souk costs about $20 one way. The hotel is in a very ugly industrial area, and there isn't anything (restaurants, shops, etc.) within walking distance. Every taxi driver I had asked me why I was staying there...Food is expensive at the hotel, and the Coffee Shop restaurant does not have a nice atmosphere. The "lobby bar" and "poolside bar" are not actual bars, but rather just a sitting area near the reception desk, and the pool where you can order drinks to be delivered from inside. Overall, I would say do NOT stay here unless you have a car and want to drive a lot to get anywhere.

The hotel is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly. The food is good, particularly the breakfast. However, there are many development projects in the area and there are few services or nightlife in the vicinity without taking a taxi ride. This hotel is good for those with a car, and/or families. A single person could find a similar hotel with better access to malls and restaurants.

this hotel has beside the unsatified location ( to far away from the city center and more or less in an industrie area ) also a boring restaurant. For example, they offer for the breakfast only toast or old bread. This indian managed hotels, it seems to be, are not able to serve a simple fresh french bread, or others in the morning.

This is not a four star. It is a gussied up three star. If the rooms were twice the size and the lobby was redone it would be OK. It is in an industrial neighborhood and the taxis cost a fortune to go anywhere.

This hotel has the benefit of being only 10 minutes from the airport so if you land on a late flight and have meetings the next morning it is actually well situated. It takes about 30 minutes to get into the CBD. For a one night in and out trip it is a good hotel. Service is not great by Middle East standards but acceptable and the rooms are clean and comfortable. For the price you pay this place is really not bad. If you are coming here on holiday do not stay here or again for an extended trip no way, but for one or two nights for the money this place is hard to beat.
