“Red Roof Inn”

Hotel is under new management and they are ungrading the facility and retraining the staff. They started the upgrade with the rooms and our was very nice. Staff that we dealt with were very professional and knowledgeable. We had read bad reviews, but it was the only motel close to where we wanted to be. We were very pleasantly surprised.

“Room was clean and comfortable”

The room itself was clean and comfortable. Nothing special. The hallways were kind of dingy, but we weren't sleeping in the hallways! My only complaints were that the remote for the TV had no batteries and there was only one ice maker in the whole place. I asked for more ice and batteries, but neither was ever delivered.

“low quality hotel”

A/C didn't work. TV remote didn't work. Motorcycle rally in town and there were 150 motorcycles in the parking lot starting their engines at all hours of the night and morning

“Red Roof, mmm Maybe”

The staff member at check in was awesome. Very friendly, very courteous and funny even though the directions to the amusment park were opposite of the mapquest directions she handed me. The building, however, is not in the best shape. The sagging entryway door and upheaved jam to the second floor caused a little concern as to the integrity of the building. The scantily painted roof led me to believe that this was not orginaly a Red Roof Inn but maybe intended to be a semi-red roof inn. The room was clean, and supplies were abundant. The stay was brief and the majority of it was for a roof over our heads and a bed to sleep in. The bathtub drain was very, very slow during showers. It was kind of funny to find someones teeth on the ground just outside the exit door. Oh and then there was the guy out in the parking lot using the rebel flag as a cape. That was a little unnerving. Led me to believe we were not in the best of neighborhoods. Kind of made me think we stepped into another realm or something..

Area recommendations
Down the road. Motels were kept up better and looked more inviting.

“Ok for one night.”

A marginal place to stay. Priced right. Try the American Legion across the street for meals. Tiny swimming pool. Breakfast was pretty spartan - we went out to eat. Parking lot and neighborhood are pretty run down.

“Would not recommend”

Check in was friendly and the room was average, but those are the only good points. The area was right on the verge of being scary, in the evening the hotel parking lot filled up with all types of people just hanging out (not guests of the hotel). While we were there one car in our party was side swiped during the night, in the morning when it was discovered the hotel would not help with videos and told us to call the police. The room was average. The matress was as thin as a blow up air matress and very uncomfortable. In our bathroom the bathtub would not drain as the back end of the tub was higher than the front and there was standing water in the tub.

“Won't stay here again”

I wasn't looking for anything fancy. We were spending our days at the beach and just needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep at night. Found a condom wrapper on the floor the day we checked in. Housekeeping didn't clean our room on the first day. They came into the room to replace towels, but never made the beds or vaccuumed the room. They cleaned the room on the second day (we stopped by the front desk to make a special request), but didn't give us new towels. Continental breakfast was fine and that area was clean. Kids liked the pool - the deepest part is 4 feet, so it was a nice size for little ones.
