“great location, beautiful grounds!”

We stayed only 2 nights at Poseidon, wish it was more! Its perfectly located at walking distance from car rentals and the beautiful Mykonos town. Breakfast was great, free transfer to and from the port was a plus! The only down point is that they do have a lot of steps to get to the rooms, so if you are traveling with a big luggage be ready to sweat to get it to the room.

Area recommendations
Renting a car is a MUST to see all the beautiful beaches and surroundings. We got a Smart. Better than the quads, we could check at the map and decide the best route to go.

“Under Rated... Book here for 5 Star Service”

I was one date late arriving, becaase of flight delays. They instantly upgraded me to the nicest room in the hotel. So I will not squak about the extra night I had to pay for that I was not here, because I truely feel I got more than I paid for. I can say is the service is unforgetable. Location is good. I am currently staying here at the hotel, and I am amazed. I used to work for the Ritz Carlton, so my expectations are high. Book Here. I highly recoomend it

“Excellent address”

This hotel has it all: great location near the center with its restaurants, bars and pubs and helpfull staff that will serve you with a smile. Breakfast buffet is great, fruits, cheeses, all kind of breads, even cereals, it's a very rich buffet compared to others. From there we could rent a motorbike to drive around in the island and visit the beaches. On my next trip to Mykonos, I'm sure to go back there !!!

Area recommendations
Mykonos town is where you have to be for the nightlife.

“Loved this hotel and its pool”

We were delighted with everything about this hotel. It was the shoulder season so not crowded. We had a sea view from our room. The breakfast offered a wide choice of delicious food. The location was excellent, near town and Windmill Hill. Service was also excellent. We especially enjoyed the salt water pool, and lounging area, where we spent lots of time reading. Possibly only complaint was music piped into pool area, too loud and frankly we would have preferred no music.

“Relax in Mykonos”

The Poseidon Hotel was better than either of us expected. The rooms were large, with balcony and we had a view of the sea. The bed was reasonably comfortable and there was a tub, always a plus. The location was just a few minutes walk from the bus station at one end of the downtown, so we had easy access to the beaches (by bus) or to shopping/dining/partying, while being able to retreat to the quiet of our hotel. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choices and the staff were friendly.

Area recommendations
I recommend staying in Mykonos town, rather than in one of the outlying villages, because of the accessibility to other parts of the island and because there's more to do.
When to go
We went in the third week of September, which turned out to be a great time to go. The weather was warm and the town lively, but not chaotic or crowded. Surprisingly, it was humid in Mykonos, although the island looks fairly, so the wind was a welcome relief.
Must see
Delos, the small island off the coast of Mykonos, which is now an archeaological site, but once was a thriving city and one of the holiest places in the ancient world. We did not use the services of a guide, but both of us have read extensively on classical religion and history. The site is only accessible by boat and is open only limited hours.
Outdoors or beach
We took the bus from Mykonos town to Paradise Beach, which has lounge chairs and umbrellas and golden, coarse sand. The far end seems to be nudist-friendly. The Tropicana bar was great fun, with lots of young party-goers. I would suggest either bringing a picnic to the beach as both the burgers and the taramasalata (Greek fish-roe dip) were pretty terrible. Still, we had so much fun that we went back a few days later. The food was better in the self-serve cafeteria at Super Paradise beach, but at the time that we went in late September, the crowd was much less lively than at Paradise. Super Paradise is accessible by taxi or by taxiboat (from Paradise beach).

“Mykonos Charm + Value”

Fantastic value for money hotel on the edge of Mykonos town (so a bit quieter than being right near the port, but only 10 mins walk to heart of the action). Island-chic refurb, very clean and comfy rooms and lovely pool and bar setting. You're 50m from a small beach, have views of windmills and sunset from most balconies and get a breakfast to die for in the morning. Best value for money we had while in Greece!

Area recommendations
Anywhere near old port/main part of town, its very small so you can walk everywhere no matter where you stay
When to go
Late Sept - still hot but no crowds and cheap deals to be had
Dining
Appaloosa is nice for Greek and some international dishes, good value and trendy setting. The fig salad with local Iouza (like proscioutto) and island made goats cheese was amazing!
