“Avista- Kinda OK”
Avista is an old hotel converted into Condo's. It looks like an old hotel. For a short stay it is fine, more than two nights I would not recommend. Location is fine, I had little interaction with the staff, but they were not over helpful.
“Would Go Back”
Stayed on the 12th floor ocean-front room, 1 bedroom, 2 dbl beds. Beds were very comfy. The rest of the furniture was very ordinary hotel stuff. Didn't try the Murphy bed. Balcony overlooked the pools, lazy river and hot tubs and provided a direct view of the ocean. We have stayed at the Tilghman Golf and Beach Resort further down the street in the past always with a south facing ocean view suite. The view was more spectacular. The Tilghman was less convenient to the beach(had to cross the road and use a foot path between buildings). $ for $ I'd choose the AVISTA.
“Has to be one of the best on the strip!”
Avista Resort is located on the beach, with spectacular view of the ocean! Their indoor and outdoor pool area, kept my kids busy all day. Had to wait another day to get on the beach. Had small problem with ironing board. Called desk, new ironing board brought to room within fifteen minutes. My first time on Myrtle Beach! Avista Resort made a great impression.
“Just ok”
I would definitely question the choice of carpeting used throughout the building but hey, Its Myrtle Beach. Not known for its high brow culture. Its a reasonable hotel on the beach with a pool and lazy river. Not bad at all if that's what your in to.
“Everything was Good!!!”
This hotel is located in front of beach. can touch to beach on foot and can enjoy indoor and outdoor pool. Also, had exiting event during my staying...music, dancing with DJ.
“Receptionist lied to us on phone about not being able to upgrade rooms”
I love the Avista Resort. I have stayed there many times. I recommend Avista to anyone traveling to Myrtle Beach. But on this last visit I was really turned off by the receptionist in charge of booking the rooms. We had booked a one bedroom condo for a wednesday nite.Another person joined our trip so I called ( a week in advance) to change our one bedroom to a two bedroom condo. Avista's online availability showed that they had plenty of two and three bedrooms availible so I called the 1 800 number....and the lady said i could not change my room because nothing else was available. She said there was absolutly nothing she could do & that everything was booked up. I was bummed. So I tried again the next day. I started this call off by saying...I know Avista has theses rooms availible and Id like one. She put me on hold to go "ask a manager" something. I was on hold for 30 minutes. (I honestly believe she was hoping i was going to hang up, but I stayed on the line-because i didnt want to be the one left sleeping on the couch.) Finnally she came back to the phone and we were granted our wish of changing the one to a two bedroom. But what an ordeal. Avista needs a new staff booking their reservations. This employee almost cost them the price of an upgrade (WHICH WAS OVER $100), just because she didnt want to do her job.
“Outstanding Beach Vacation”
We chose to come to North Myrtle because we wanted a relaxing experience and this facility gave us just that. Roomy, comfortable, well-appointed accomodations at a very reasonable price. We had originally chosen a different facility on the Expedia website, but that particular one didn't have rooms available for the entire length of our planned stay. So I got on the phone with Expedia. The agent asked a few questions about our preferences and in just a few minutes found us our room at the Avista. Exact same preferences--but at a lower rate than the hotel we had originally chosen. I'm not sure what our expectations were, but this definitely exceeded them.
“will definately be back”
its was a fun experience and we will definately be back soon.
“Not impressed”
We were not pleased with our 1st floor accommodation which allowed us a view of the swimming pools and the backside of the dunes. Our request to be moved to a higher floor was not accommodated as they stated they were full. We had anticipated an ocean front where we could actually see the ocean. The room had minimal furniture, kitchen equipment and was of poor quality. The bedroom had no exterior view or windows so seemed rather stultifying. We did not do any walking in the neighborhood but the location did not seem to be conducive to that.
“Best for Us on the beach”
After trying many hotels in the Myrtle Beach area, we have decided that the Avista is best for our family. Indoor hallways, comfortable rooms, multiple pools, even indoor ones, convenient location a little away from the "glitzzy" areas, but they are easy to get to if that is what you want. We go fairly frequently, especially in the fall and winter when the rates are great!
