“Myrtle Beach in November”

Overall very nice stay. The room was very nice. 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo w/ patio off master and living room. Indoor/outdoor pools, lazy river, restaurant and lounge, fitness room, racquetball, laundry. It is wonderful to go to Myrtle in the off-season. We have been there in March and now November. I really don't think I would want to go when it would be very overcrowded.

“Kinda on the old side, but neat”

My husband and I stayed at Beach Colony for our anniversary. The room overall was neatly setup, but the bed was horrible! Really the bed was our only major complaint. The resort grounds were awesome, and our view from the 16th floor was amazing. All in all, a nice place.

“Better than I expected!”

I loved Beach Colony. Greeted by a very friendly staff and the room was ready when we got there. The view was amazing (beach front) and clean and comfortable and super affordable. The beach was super clean and the pools were well maintained. Loved the indoor hot tub! The cafe and breakfast buffet were very affordable (we found the most expensive thing to do in Myrtle Beach is eat!). Have juice with your breakfast buffet, because coffee is an extra $2.50 ea. which to me is outragous when you can have it for free in your room. Stay on the North end of the beach, much quieter and seemed a lot newer and up to date. I would go back in a heartbeat. Loved my time there...

Area recommendations
I would stay at the North end of Myrtle Beach, especially if you are looking for a quiet time. The South end is more touristy and has more of the party scene going. You also need to drive over to Pawleys Island, Litchfield, Murrel's Inlet (much better seafood, less commercial).
When to go
I would go right after Easter or just before Mother's Day. Not lots of kids on Spring Break. The weather is perfect and it is quiet.
What to pack
Don't forget Sunscreen....you will be outside most of the trip. Take an umbrella for those pop-up storms and showers (we had a few). I would take your own pillows and beach chairs if you are driving there. They rent beach chairs and cabana type umbrella on the beach at $30/day (outragous!). If you are going to the gardens or the park....bring some OFF or bug spray. The flies bite and they will swarm you. We purchased a few certificates from Restuarants.com before we left and it saved us a fortune on meals at places like House of Blues.
Must see
Brookgreen Gardens and the Hammock shops are a must to see. Huntington Beach Park is beautiful and the Boardwalk is delightful. Make sure you pick up coupon books at your hotel or at local establishments that will give you discounts on admission to many places around town. Ripley's Aquarium was a nice way to spend the day out of the sun.
Shopping
I love the little shops at Barefoot Landing, Broadway by the Beach and the Boardwalk. There is the Tanger Outlet and the Mall, but they have all those shops here were I live, so I prefer the junk type tourist shops. They are great places to find souveniers. If you are looking for tee shirts and such, try the shops off the Boardwalk and on the South end of Myrtle Beach, much cheaper than Barefoot and Broadway.
Dining
Hanser House in Litchfield is bar none the best seafood we had the entire trip, if not ever. Family owned and they really care....great service. You have got to try the hushpuppies! I usually don't like them, but these were amazing. The Shrimp and Grits were out of this world. House of Blues was a visual experience. The food was very good too. The Kiss Coffeehouse at Broadway at the Beach had very expensive, but some of the best coffee drinks I've had in a very long time. Plus, if you are a KISS fan, it's a must see. Planet Hollywood was over rated and to expensive for what they served. Was fun to sit and look at all the memorabilia. The Giant Crab Seafood Buffet was okay, nothing to write home about. Seafare (with mermaids and pirates) was a much better buffet experience. Sticky Fingers BBQ was very tasty. I like the Carolina Sweet the best.....I would do it again.

“Comfortable Convenient Hotel by the Beach”

This hotel was a 3 star. Easy to find by GPS. Right on the beach with easy access to all of the major stores and restaurants. Very close to the shopping outlet. Very clean, items in the kitchen and cabinet were from the owners of the time share but they were clean. Peeling dining table wasn't appealing but clean. View of the ocean from the balcony was nice. Beds were comfortable. Shower head in bathroom wasn't great but bathroom was a good size. Not great carpet but acceptable. Pools, jacuzzi's, pool side bar/grill and walkway access to the beach was awesome. Overall a great choice for a quick stay by the beach.

“The Beach Colony tops the list”

We enjoyed the Beach Colony and have it on our list when we return to Myrtle beach. Our plan is to make this an annual occassion.

Shopping
The COACH outlet was the best. Other stores were fairly in line with any other sale that you would find at tyour average mall. The CONVERSE outlet was disappointing.
Dining
Benjamin's Calabash Buffet - completely wonderful!!
Events and shows
The House of Blues Gospel Brunch - a must! We had church!! Excellent ending to a great weekend. I am in the process of planning an excursion for the women in my church.

“Nice Place”

This place was nice enough for the price. The best thing about it is the room layout (may vary for some) which makes for a roomy, uncongested feel. There were a total of 3 pools on site(including a kiddie pool -enough for all without being overcrowded). The hotel's decor and t.v's need to be updated. Other than that, the common areas and rooms were o.k.. (beds were a little stiff). I enjoyed the free internet ( really slow, but free). The breakfast was really good the days we were there (need to reduce price by 3 bucks for those who are staying there! ).The waiter was nice and we enjoyed the ocean view while eating. I didn't see anything special about the afternoon cafe... BUT.. it's there and they serve drinks and light food (nothing fancy). I would stay here again and I would say that it is suitable for different traveling types/groups but I think we will try another place to try to find that perfect niche.

Area recommendations
I like the beach area best (anywhere on hwy 17 business strip). The city area would be the next best place (somewhere near Broadway at the Beach).

“Our MB home away from home”

Beach front rooms. 10th floor balcony provided spectacular view of ocean and beach. Two swimming pools, a third wading pool for moms and tots,a lazy river, and an in-ground hot tub. Outside bar is next to pool, lazy river and spa. Ample parking, indoor raquet ball court, game room, laundry room, restaurant all on sight. Center of golf world, 10 miles from 12 courses, 20 miles from 25 courses. Great shopping and dining within minutes. Aquarium, dinner shows, T.I.G.E.R.S sanctuary are all "must see's". The highways in and out are much improved in last 10 years.

“Wonderful stay! So much more than expected!”

My husband accompanied me for a quick business trip. I booked an ocean front room and after reading some other reviews, all I hoped for was a fairly clean room with at least a view of the ocean. What a wonderful surprise to find a lovely, spacious room with all kinds of amenities. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the ocean view was incredible! We were there on a weekend during high summer usage, yet our room was wonderfully quiet at night. We had a very nice breakfast in the on site restaurant.
