“Happily Surprised”

I booked this hotel as a very last minute trip(night before and Labor day weekend). I knew it was not oceanfront, but it's actually not that far from the ocean and everything else. Was a little leery because of all the negative reviews, but I was happily surprised when we arrived. The hotel staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The hotel accepts pets, and had very reasonable rates seeing as how they were about the only hotel with vacancy in all of Myrtle Beach. The lobby, hallways and our room were very clean. It is an older hotel, but nowhere near as shabby as some guest reviews make it out to be. I would say the only negatives were a somewhat slow elevator(only 1 in bldg), & that there is not much ventilation in the rooms, and the bed was kinda uncomfortable but not unbearable. As for all the negative reviews...well sometimes you just can't make everyone happy. In all a very pleasant trip..we would stay here again!

“Sleep in your car!”

Room had no hot water. Maintenence guy seemed to simply be a friend of the manager and not an actual employee. Looked like the member of a motorcycle gang and not presentable to allow in your room for service. He told me the shower hasnt had hot water for some time, management was aware but has refused to order part. I had to wait for a room to become available then I was switched to smoking room when I requested non smoking. Also the the view from my room was a car wash and the back up from a sewage drain.

“A great savingings”

I had to attend a convention at the Springmaid Conference Center at Myrtle Beach SC. Their facilities were overbooked and woefully in need of repair. The Socastee Road Super 8 Hotel near the market common was comfortable, the staff very friendly, and the location made the experience a pleasant stay! My stay was during the peak of tourist season August 4-8,2011.

“I wasn't expecting greatness but this place sucked”

The hotel is a few miles past Broadway at the Beach. Its in a well lite area surrounded by a few unoccupied buildings. The pool is a small square. I didn't try the complimentary breakfast. The hotel smelled weird and smokey. Our non smoking room smelled smokey. We had two double beds. One was clean. The other had hair on the sheets and a brown smear on the comforter. Housekeeping brought new sheets and a blanket and said they were clean. The sheets were but the blanket had hairs stuck to it. The floor looked like it needed to be shampooed and had some cereal by the edges of the bed. The bathroom looked clean but old.

“Bare minimum”

Booked a room here since it was last minute and there was no vacancy at other decently priced places. I figured it would be nice since I had a good experience at a Super 8 last year that was only 15 minutes away (Barefoot Landing). Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed when walking in was the weird smell of the lobby. Then walking through the halls didn't do much to help, since the carpeting wasn't in great shape. Luckily the room was decent and the AC worked well but that was about it. During our 2 night stay, nobody came to clean the room or restock the towels. We went to the front desk to ask for towels and they brought them, but still never cleaned the room. Luckily we didn't spend much time there. It was barely passable. It should be ok in a pinch, but that's the only time I'd recommend that. Otherwise, there are tons of better options.

“Not impressed”

This is a bare bones motel predominantly for workers traveling for business; not for vacationers. This Super8 had very bright lights outside our windows that were left on most of the night. It was inexpensive and we were visiting friends so didn't spend much time there - just to sleep.

“Will go back great prices and location!!!!”

Great place to stay for the price! You are within a 10 min drive of everything. Rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is very nice and accommodating. My only complaint is the doors they have in the hotel. They slam very easily and are very loud. You can slam the door and disturb your neighbor and not realize it. Our neighbors slammed the door all night one night and it was very frustrating!

“I will use this Super 8 again...”

This Super 8 in the Market Commons area in Myrtle Beach was very conveniently located at the corner of Socastee Blvd./Farrow Pkway and Highway 17 Bypass. The room was neat and comfortable , with a microwave and refrigerator, which I thought was a nice touch. Hotel staff staff was congenial and attentive. Continental breakfast included hot waffles; a treat. All around I liked this hotel a lot.
