Not bad for the deal we got through expedia

Pros: right on the beach, walking distance to piers&boardwalk, multiple pools & deck to lounge, loved how they accommodated us so we could check in early
Cons: bad smell coming out of sink privacy on balconies allow guests to rent umbrellas&beach chair to take on beach, they only allowed timeshare owners
Location: its at the very opposed end of the boardwalk, main strip, good location but a 10-15 min walk to get to piers & boardwalk area. do the sling shot ride!
We had never been to myrtle beach so had no idea what to expect, and me and my boyfriend haven't done much traveling so I don't think we are too hard to please and our standards aren't super high, we are pretty low maintenance/easy going. We were both very pleased with Westgate. We arrived at 8a even though check in time wasn't until 4p, so we stopped in hoping we could drop our luggage off for the day while we waited for check in time. To our surprise, they checked us in right away and we were in our room right away. Through expedia we didn't select what room we wanted, and got "resort choice" so we were alittle nervous about that. We got a room in the main hotel building (westgate has two buildings, the main one which is just like a regular hotel, and a newer tower building where all of the "villas" are.... many of the pictures online only show the new villa rooms, not what we stayed in) we were on the 6th floor facing the road, which was a view of the parking lot, friendly's across the street, a parking garage being built, and the amusement park across the street. So, the view was not anything special, ocean view would have been ideal. The balconies didn't have a wall in between rooms, just a railing so no privacy which we thought was a little weird. Getting in the room it appeared to be very clean, just had alittle bit of a funny smell, we later discovered was coming out of the bathroom sink. All in all, for the deal we got we were pleased with our stay at westgate.

Good hotel if you are looking to buy a timeshare

Location: The fun park is good for families with kids, and the beach is great for every age. I recommend jet skiing at the place on the beach by the waterpark
We didn't realize Westgate is more of a timeshare than a hotel. The timeshare owners get preferred treatment in terms of room selection, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. The place was crowded while we were there (July 23 - 29) and it felt run-down. We stayed in the 6-floor building, not the tower featured in the pictures. There were used bath towels left on the bathroom door hook from the previous guests, and we saw a few bugs in the room. The door card-keys stopped working on the second day, and maintenance had to come decode the lock after three attempts to reactivate the cards. On a positive note, the location is right on the beach and next to the family fun park.

A week in Myrtle Beach

Pros: The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The pool was accessible and there were always chairs available and it was clean. The rooms were taken care of
Cons: The towels ran out at the pool on many occasions. The toilet paper was extremely poor quality for people such as ourselves that stayed a whole week.
Location: The location is excellent. Right on the beach and within 10-20 miles at most of major attractions. There are many things to do within walking distance
My wife and I booked a room through Expedia for a week in Myrtle Beach. The resort is right on the main strip within walking distance of many attractions and just steps from the beach. The pool is excellent and well maintained. The rooms themselves were kept clean and supplied. We were very satisfied with the location of the resort. Overall this was a very good experience and no problems at the resort. We enjoyed ourselves and would surely return.

A tired hotel desparately in need of an update.

Pros: Avoid , lots of better hotels for the price.
Cons: As stated.
Location: Fantastic beach and Broadway has to be experienced.
A really disappointing hotel that promised so much that turned out to be a real let down. Lobby was manic with sandy wet people walking right in off the beach. All areas appeared to be in need of redecoration. First time I have stayed in a hotel where only one of you can log onto the wifi at a time, more then one would have to pay.Given the quality or rather lack of wifi connectivity this would have been disgusting. The additional charges for use of the facilities was also poor and presented the hotel in a poor-money grabbing light. America is blessed with some great hotels and even ones on a budget,sadly this isn't one and should be avoided.

The only thing I would have to complain about is the the ice maker on the floor we stayed on leaked water so the hallway was always wet.

Nice hotel on the beach.

Pros: It was on the ocean and close to nightlife.
Cons: Microwaves in the rooms would be nice.
We came to this hotel for our granddaughters birthday. It was right on the beach, except our room was on the other side facing the amusement park. It was still a nice view we just wished it was on the ocean side. We enjoyed our stay.i

Not as expected

a bit dated of a hotel in need of repairs. for the price payed, felt it should have been a lot more amenities and rooms need TLC. if you are not an owner, most amenities like parking on site or getting beach umbrella and chair is not available yet you pay resort fee. this should be obvious at the hotel website. the closeness to the beach and having the amusement park close by for kids is probably the only positive I have. expected a lot better facility from pictures on the website. Front desk clerk and cleaning staff were nice.

Hotel on the beach which was a plus

Pros: The staff was great. The fact that it is close to beach is good. The pool was ok.
Location: The location is good ot is across from amusement park and water park ( very small) you neeed a car to get around.
Our room was not completely checked the tub mat was pulled up and there was glue in the tub. We called the front desk they fixed it but it should have been corrected before we checked in. The sink and tub drained very slowly.

Didn't get the room I thought..

Room smelled like mold, frig was leaking, bugs in room and hall, hall had no air and dirty, Carpet was soaked due to ice maker leaking and stunk.. staff was not friendly at counter and didn't seem to care.. would not go back!

Great resort but staff ignores you

View was great. Staff didnt really communicate with us. Cleaning staff constantly argued in the hall. Was constantly hassalled about a timeshare
