“Beautiful and Relaxing!!”
The hotel was beautiful and clean. It's wide amenities and available choices was nice to have. I feel however that a hotel at that price, wireless internet should be complimentary and not charged to the residents of the room.
“Definitely plan on visiting again!”
Great hotel!
“Frat party gone wrong - 4/16/2010”
My grade school friends and I get together on a regular basis. We were tremendously looking forward to a getaway at the highly rated Mystic Marriot. We arrived to find out that a bulk of the hotel had been rented to a fraternity party. We were assured that there would be no issue given that they were only located on the 2nd floor (we were on the 5th). We were also told that a security force had been hired, which served to upset us rather than reassure us. If there was no concern, why did they need a security force? After a nice evening, we returned to our room at 10 PM to find fraternity brothers screaming "after party" in the hallway as well as their half-dressed dates wandering about. We did not feel comfortable or safe. We went to the front desk and voiced our concerns. They were apathetic at best and wound up putting us up in the filthy Best Western down the road. We were assured of a full refund. We went back to the hotel the following morning and an assistant manager said she would get back to me the next day with the details of the refund. There was no offer of any other compensation despite our weekend having been ruined. I have yet to hear from the assistant manager and spoke with her manager this evening. I am hoping for a reply. They stay at this hotel was a huge disappointment for my friends and I.
“Very nice for me and the Kids to enjoy!!”
I loved the pool jacuzzi room!! I got to relax yet still see the kids to ensure there saftey!! Room was very nice....employers were polite and thougthful!!
“The Mystic Marriott home away from home during the Holidays. Wonderful experience year after year.”
We arrived in the evening after a long, holiday traffic clogged trip. A very pleasant young woman at the front desk helped us with our bags as the bellman had already finished working. We were given an upgrade on our room in the recently remodeled floors. In short, we love the Mystic Marriott. The quaint bar is very convenient and the staff friendly and attentive. The Octagon restaurant consistently turns out great entries and the brunch is also a favorite for the locals in the area. There is a Starbucks conveniently located in the hotel which makes waking in the morning something to look forward to. The bed was comfortable and had 87 pillows on it, well, actually 6. I also enjoyed watching the evening news on the new, large (42 inch?) HDTV. One of the features I really enjoy about this Marriott is the work out room which has many machines to choose from. My only complaint is that the equipment is getting a little long in the tooth, where some of the tv's no longer work properly. The hotel is conveniently located near I95 and has a post card view of a large reservoir surrounded by pine trees. We will return and look forward to staying at the Mystic Marriott.
“We will definitely go back!”
The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. It offered many ammenities.
“been there again since!”
What a nice change to stay at such a nice hotel that our events are also hosted by. It was so much nicer to change and relax at the hotel and attend an evening event and return to a comfy, clean room than to drive home an hour in our formal attire. The hotel staff was personable and very helpful. Excellent stay!
“aaahhhhh...nice weekend vacation”
This Marriott is really made for business, which makes it perfect for a weekend getaway. We asked for a refrigerator in our room and we were upgraded to the concierge floor. The concierge floor lounge is closed during the weekend, but it really didn't matter. The room is large and comfortable. It passed my bathroom test: clean everything, hot water on demand, nice amenities. It also passed my ceiling test...one of the hallmarks of a good hotel is that the ceiling is nicely finished, none of those tiles that look like a badly finished basement. The staff was very helpful, so helpful, in fact, that we wanted to end the conversation and get on the way. We had put out the "do not disturb sign," and on Saturday evening, right before the housekeepers go off duty, we got a call from housekeeping giving us one last chance to have the room made up. I don't know if there are great parents all around or the hotel has good soundproofing, but across the hall was a family with a baby and toddler. We heard them in the hall, but never heard them once they entered their room. We would definitely go back.
“We will definately go back to this hotel!”
The hotel was probably the cleanest hotel we ever stayed in. The overall appearance of the hotel showed that it was very well maintained. We had a short stay there but we were very satisfied with the hotel and would definately go back!
“Declining over the years”
I've stayed at this hotel many times. The grounds are beautiful and the building is elegant. However, over the past 3 years, the attention to detail has gone down hill. Public bathrooms on the lobby level were a mess. While our hotel room was ok, the room and the rest of the hotel was just not as clean and attractive as it once was. The nightly rental was fairly expensive for this area of Connecticut. I expect more from Marriott.
