“Great place to stay, centrally located”

The owners were very courteous and friendly. It was a nice, quiet place to stay. Room was very clean and they accomodated our requests with smiles. Were very helpful with directions and places of interest. Hotel was centrally located near the beach and other attractions. Would definitely recommend to others and would like to go back next year!!

“Looking forward to spending some more summer nights there.”

If you are looking for a large expensive room this is not your spot. A reasonable place to stay after a day at the beach. They are located just minutes from the beaches as well as Mystic. Clean rooms private showers, color cable TV, A/C and a fridg. Praking just a few steps from your room. For the money a great place to crash after a day in the surf. The staff I spoke with were friendly and curtious. If you want to spend triple the money and be 10 minutes closer to the beaches go ahead but if you want a comfortable night sleep and have more spending money for your vacation then the Sand Dollar Motel is perfect!

“Outdoor seating and great little continental breakfast”

I enjoyed the continental breakfast, standing shower and cleanliness. We had two double beds and we were very close to the wonderful beaches of Westerly as well as the Labor Day Rhythem and Roots Festival. The outdoor picnic bench and table Area were a nice touch noticed some outdoor grapevines and other hotel guests were friendly. Great rates after Labor Day too.

“Good Location, No Frills”

The location was on a main road, but set back so you didn't have traffic noise. The rooms are outdated but clean and offered a good place to crash after a day of being outdoors. The walls seemed thin, could hear nearby TV's, but no one made excessive noise. There was a fridge in the room, which was a nice touch. There is a sign posted that more than 2 guests are an extra charge, but I'm not sure how strictly that's enforced since there were only 2 of us. The staff was very nice when we checked in. We'd stay again, loved walking around downtown Westerly.

“friendly owners”

The husband and wife were extremely welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. Also made an effort to help direct to points of interest when asked. The condition of the room, right next to the office, was in good condition despite the apparent age of the motel. I felt the grounds, though, could stand to be much improved upon. Although the room was nice and the people were friendly, we were surprised they charged extra when our two teenage children arrived to stay the next day because there was an extra double bed that was not being used. That's why we rate the overall satisfaction a three. I think the charge should be a flat rate based on beds available, not number of people staying. I know other hotels/motels do that.

“"MEH"”

The hotel was just okay. We barely spent any time in the room because it was sort of grungy and gross. I had waited too long to reserve a room (I was running the surftown half marathon the next day) so this was the only place we cold find. I won't stay there again, I'll just plan ahead better. On the plus side it was very quiet there.

“STUCK IN RHODE ISLAND”

THE BED WE SLEPT ON WAS HARD AS A ROCK. I SUGGEST YOU BRING YOUR PILLOW FROM HOME. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS SO LOUD. EVERY TIME COMPRESSOR KICKED ON IT SOUNDED LIKE A HELICOPTER LANDING. I DIDN'T SLEEP A WINK. WOKE UP AS TIRED AS I WENT TO BED. WALLS WERE PLASTERED WITH HOOKS THAT NO LONGER HELD PICTURES BUT NO DOUBT YOU COULD SEE AT ONE TIME THAT THERE WERE PICTURES. I COULD SEE THE SILHOUETTES. I WAS SURPRISED THERE WAS AVAILABILITY LABOR DAY WEEKEND BUT NOW I KNOW WHY! BUT HEY, I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE 1 1/2 HOME. TEEHEE

“"Moldy stuffy rooms otherwise decent quiet motel"”

Rooms has mold smell, needs serious airing and cleaning with bleach solution or carpet replacement. Perhaps a bathroom ceiling fan would help out as the moisture from a shower won't accumulate and have mold problems throughout the rooms. Without the mold problem it would be a good motel to stay. At least it was quiet and peaceful.

“Get what you pay for....”

Hotel is very outdated and in need of TLC. Paint, carpeting, flat screen tv, and new window blinds to start. It's located in a convenient area, and close to stores, the beach, and restaurants. Owners are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection to chose from.

“Only if desparate”

Although fairly clean this motel is old and in disrepair, i.e. screen doors lower half covered with plywood, screwed paneling into ceiling to cover damage. The couple who ran it were very nice and look to be trying for improvements, i.e. bathroom looked to be 'remodeled'. Unless you are using your last dime, I would stay elsewhere.
