The best hotel in Nairobi!Posted Jan 1, 2014
Location: We traveled with our boys, 10 and 12, and all four of us loved the elephant orphanage and the giraffe center!
We loved the tranquility of this hotel so close to busy Nairobi. It was a long flight from Chicago and the front desk staff quickly checked us in, and brought us to our lovely room overlooking the courtyard. I can't thank the reservation agent, Rose, enough for catching my error. I had reserved the wrong Fairmont location initially and truly appreciate her confirming the correct hotel. Everyone at the hotel was so warm and helpful!

Not that specialPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: It was an oasis in Nairobi, fairly close to city centre.
Cons: Views not that special and not really that large. Views disappointing. Only one chair in a double room. Bathroom restocking very inconsistent.
Location: Good location for city facilities/banks/offices etc. Near to local restaurants serving African food (much better value than food in the Norfolk).
Whilst the Norfolk was nice and a real oasis in the city of Nairobi the rooms didn't offer any more than Travel Lodge or Premier Inn. The view was disappointing and the buffet breakfast was disappointing.

Nairobi's bestPosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nairobi is not exactly a garden spot, but the Norfolk, literally is. The food is mediocre and overpriced, which is annoying, because dining options in and around the hotel are less than minimal. The hotel is pleasant and comfortable. The staff is mostly excellent though the cashier still owes me for the exchange I made--she didn't have the exact change. It is an oasis in the central business district.

Nice HotelPosted Aug 1, 2013
Pros: Good food Good facilities
Cons: More attention to detail in the preparation and delivery of in-room meals.
Everything was good the staff was courteous Food was excellent. The only thing that was below par was the fact that room service meals had missing items on two separate occasions. Once the meal was prepared wrong, another time breakfast was missing some items.

Nickeled & Dimed by Wi-Fi ChargesPosted Jul 15, 2013
Pros: Gift shop. Comfortable bed. Nice room.
Cons: Free Wi-Fi. Come on!!! How hard is that? Better service/food at expensive Tatu Restaurant.
Location: Just stayed in the hotel...it was a long layover.
I would recommend this hotel with a few CAUTIONS. Caution 1. We just stayed one night and the room was lovely...except for the pounding noise all night from construction going on nearby. Caution 2. Skip dinner at Tatu....service is AWFUL & the food very mediocre. Caution 3. I had to pay for Wi-Fi. I ponied up the indicated amount for 24 hrs of Wi-Fi, but every time I logged on (sometimes I had to do so repeatedly because it shut down on me) they charged me an hourly rate. When we checked out, they said I did it wrong & made no attempt correct the charges. So our stay ended on a very sour note. After paying as much as we did for a top notch hotel, we felt nickled & dimed to death on the Wi-Fi charges. On a positive note, they employees at the gift shop were lovely. One in particular took extra time & effort to make sure our purchases would make it home intact.

It's always the foodPosted Jul 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
Absolutely lovely hotel. Great look, lovely staff and beautiful grounds. But why is it always the food that let's places down. The food was good, tasty and fresh, don't get me wrong, but what was served to me was not exactly what the menu has stated. You can't just change ingredients around and expect it to still be the same meal. Very odd. Otherwise awesome.

central locationPosted Apr 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hot water system failed the second day but otherwise it was a wonderful experience. Service was exceptional. Food excellent. The only downside to staying in central Nairobi is the traffic situation. We spent hours stuck in traffic!
