Pros: By the water
Cons: Tear it down and start over. Never stay in a Best Western again.
Rooms very small. Old hotel. Much better hotels in area for slightly more money.

Not satisfied.Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: Not much.
Location: It was across from the waterfront. We could go for a walk, shopping.
We paid approx. $155.00 (this included the $25.00 fee for our dog). The room was so small you could hardly move. The glasses were dirty and the clerk replaced them. There was long dark hair in the hair blow dryer. We felt that just because we had our dog with us we did not get a room that was worth the money that we paid. Parking was another issue we had to park in a lot that other people were using or park in a parkade, pay for the parking and then get reimbursed. The night clerk tried his best he was a very nice and courteous person. We will definitely not recommend this hotel. Very disappointed.

Nice view and super location in Nanaimo.Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: THe bed super comfortable. The view to the water was excellent. The white noise of the air conditioner made it easy to sleep.
Cons: Parking was tight and it was a pain to remember to put the parking pass on the dashboard.
Location: Walking along the pier and through downtown, eating at the Trollers Fish & Chips shack was good even though a bit pricey.
Lovely 2 day stay in Nanaimo. The Dorchester was perfectly located and nicely appointed. The room was quiet and the wifi easy to access. Parking was a bit problematic but worked out in the end.

Cramped small room but clean!Posted Aug 12, 2014
The room was very small and cramped but was nice and clean. A bit more room would be great but was a good stay nonetheless.

Hotel close to beachPosted Aug 3, 2014
We stayed only for one night here, the place needs total renovation. Everything other than the lobby has been used for ages, especially the carpet, dirty and smelly. But the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Everything but there was no parking
Location: Didn't see much enjoyed the ocean harbour view, was there for ball games
The rooms were great, quiet and clean. The decor was modern but old fashion, was really good, food good and service excellent

Cute hotel. TINY rooms.Posted Jun 11, 2014
The room was far too cramped. Having random stairs in the hall on upper floors was awkward with luggage. Eating options very limited. Will not stay again.

Okay For Business TravellersPosted Jun 9, 2014
The hotel was okay for a business trip. The hallway smelled bad (strong cleaning solution maybe, but smelled like urine to me), but this faded away by the second day I was here. The location was just right for the business I had to conduct in downtown Nanaimo. Other than the bad smell, the room and hotel were clean and the staff were polite and helpful. There are other properties nearby that might provide more pizzazz if you're looking for a special event or vacation stay.

I really liked all the staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. Very compassionate and able to think. One thing I really did like was the shower taps. Easy to operate and worked the old fashioned way. Cleaning staff were always smiling so management is good.
