Decent stay in Parksville
Posted Jan 12, 2013
The Quality Resort Bayside was a decent place for my sister and I to stay for a night while visiting relatives in Parksville. The room was a decent size, clean and it was nice to have a coffee maker. We weren't facing the water but for all we were in the room that didn't matter. We had to call down to the front desk to get them to activate the free wi-fi which was supposed to be ready to go without our prompting, but they quickly fixed it. I can see how busy it would get in the summer with travellers as we did enjoy a walk out front of the hotel while the tide was out. I would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Quality Inn Parksville

Pros: The wonderul ocean veiw from the room and dining room.
Cons: The balacony railings need to be changed to glass - the present railings obstruct the veiw slightly.
Location: The location is walking distance to town, next door to mini golf and has beach access.
This hotel has a resort feel. It is the perfect location in Parksville with great amenities on site. It is an older building but well maintained.

I loved the view!

The new towels, pillows and bedding were beautiful. It was nice to sit on the balcony and watch the tide roll in, and the sun go down. Beautiful. The resturant was excellent, the seafood pasta was second to none. I wish I had booked a few more days there. Excellent value for the price.

Overpriced for the quality

Pros: The water view was very nice
Cons: The pool not working
Location: The parking lot is a bit far from the front door and makes carrying your bags awkward.
This hotel needs some attention. Check in was slow as there was only one clerk and a line up of five people waiting to check in. We booked this hotel so the kids could use the pool but found out at check in that the pool and hot tub were closed and had been for some time. If we had known this beforehand we would have cancelled and booked somewhere else. The single ice machine was disconnected and turned backward to the wall, indicating that it had been out of service for a while even though there were no signs indicating that and what signs there were for it would lead you to believe it was working. The air conditioner in our room was not operable. We were just here overnight so we did not use any other facilites in the hotel. I would not stay in that hotel again.

Ask if all facilities are available before booking
Posted Jan 22, 2013
Pros: Location is great
Cons: All facilities as advertised not available
Pool & Hot Tub undergoing service, was not made aware of this during the booking process. Teen age baseball team staying in the same area as us, extremely noisy, hotel staff completely unaware of the situation. Received in my impression a fake apology in regards to the pool & hot tub. We left a day early and booked a hotel elsewhere as could not sleep due to the noise/ inconvenience to us.

Swimming pool out of order, no view from balcony.
Posted Jan 14, 2013
We paid online for a pet-friendly room with a balcony and amenities that include a swimming pool and hot tub. When we arrived we were charged $15 extra per night for our pet to stay but offered no consideration on the room rate for the fact that their swimming pool and spa was closed for 3 weeks for repairs (we were told by the desk clerk). Then when we entered our room we found that it did have a balcony -- but there was no view at all and it actually faced a huge air conditioning unit and a wall. The restaurant, however, had good food and the view from the dining room windows was spectacular.

Pros: dog friendly
Cons: smell of low tide
We stayed one night with our dog and were treated very well! The room was clean and comfortable. There were key system issues but the clerk escorted us to our room to unlock the door as necessary. We will definitely be back! The only drawback for us was it was low tide when we arrived and the odor didn't allow us to have our balcony door open.

Perfect pet friendly hotel with ocean view.
Posted Jan 2, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: a small fridge in the room would be convenient
Location: Located on the ocean, perfect location for the Brant Geese Festival activities and other birding activities around Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
The hotel is a bit dated but is quiet, pet friendly and well located with ocean view. The restaurant at the hotel serves good meals. We particularly appreciated the cleanliness of the room.
