Good location near xuanwu subway
Nice comfortable clean hotel near Xuanwu subway. But aircon broke down on third day and we had to shift to another room. Hotel counter staff do not appear familiar with basic tourist information and could be better equipped with local knowledge of tourist attractions, transport to other places outside Nanjing, where to locate certain landmarks etc...

Great hotel in great location
It's the best hotel I've booked in my one-month holiday, quick check in and out. The staffs are very helpful and friendly, the hotel is opposite the beautiful Xuanwu lake which is one of the popular tourist destination, the metro line is also next to the hotel which lead to many other tourists spots. Hotel room is spacious and clean, great all you can eat breakfast and dinner on the 20th floor, overall, it's been a great experience.

Everything was ok if on check out they wouldnt clame for 5min that room hasn't been paid yet. I knew it was as it was stated on reservation and I chked that it was charged on my credit card already. Only after telling them for 5th time they went back and checked and found out it was already paid. No apology, nothing. They would easily double charge me.

Real thing is better than the picture
Paying extra for the lake view room is definitely worth it. Staying during full moon is an added bonus. Hotel staff are very helpful. Online booking is much more affordable than OTC cash price for rooms.

a very well run and maintained Chinese hotel
Although the bed seemed a slightly smaller for a King size, it was very comfortable. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and has a fragrance when you enter. It is also very conveniently located next to a metro station.

The hotel is very nice but to call it a Lakeview hotel is slightly misleading. You need to be on an upper floor to see the lake and Nanjing suffers from mist and pollution.

The hotel is close to Xuanwu Lake, a must see in Nanjing, and blocks away from great low cost restaurants. Also, it is a short taxi ride to the railway station. Staff is friendly enough. It used to be one of the best hotels in town. Now that there are so many new five star hotels available, this one is not super impressive but it is good value for the money.

Hotel is a bit old. Mattress is overused with a depression in the middle of mattress. Air-conditioning system needs upgrading. Nonetheless, location is good. Close to subway, shopping belt, and the lake. Staff is friendly n professional.

Everything about the hotel was excellent - the great location, the quality of the room, and the location. The only warning is that the restaurants are expensive; you may be best eating out at a local restaurant instead.

I had requested a hard bed and they fix up one exactly what i wanted. Very thoughtful that they had prepared for such request. Many hotels will tell you all their beds are similar without trying to oblige you. I had requested a room with colder aircon and they gave one too. Thank you Lakeview Xuanwu

Good hotel but no lakeview unless you are given a room on al least floor 10. Airconditioning temperature could not be lowered below about 20 making sleeping alittle difficult. Good hotel if you can get a good room below 520CNY

Perfect location, solid choice.
Service was excellent, you call and they answer! Towels, iron, ice, laundry... it all happens very quickly, impressively so. Check in was super easy. English was no problem. We booked a suite which slept 3 people (when using a rollaway). The beds were excellent (firm) but the room was warm. Someone told us they shut off the AC during fall and winter months; our trip was in October. That might be fine for lower floors, but we were towards the top and hot air rises. After a warm shower, the room was pretty warm and opening the windows didn't help much. The hotel is well situated near the lake, right on a subway line near a station, and 2 stops from the main train station. It is also around the corner from Hunan Road - a major shopping area. We had them do some laundry which was rather expensive but convenient and returned the same day. BTW, it turns out a Fornet location is right around the corner on Hunan Road which is probably the cheaper laundry option - I just didn't know until it was too late. Honestly, the hotel in general is excellent, but I found the fixtures in our particular room to be a bit worn. Water faucets were loose, the bathroom door latch was near end-of-life, the room's door hinge was pulling away from the frame. The details... Would I stay here again? Yes.

Perfect choice
Our stay at the Fraser Residence Hotel was excellent! Our suite was spacious, lovely and very clean. Our balcony overlooked the street market and from the balcony we could smell the food cooking and see the hustle and bustle all through the night and in the morning. The front desk was very polite and friendly and were eager to handle any of our requests, including arranging transportation to Nanjing. The arranged breakfast at the café was always good, but also interesting. The cleaning staff was also very good and accommodating. The hotel was close to the Cloud Temple, the street market and within walking distance of the Bund and the Yuyuan Market which had lots of stalls with more interesting things to buy than most of the street markets we had encountered. If I return to Shanghai, I would definitely stay at the Fraser Residence again.

Very lovely hotel!
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location! It is just steps from the subway, near some great restaurants and across the road is the stunning Xuanwu Park. The room was quite nice and very clean. The bed was a little soft for me but I like a very firm mattress. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the restaurant, which is located on the 20th floor, offers a very lovely scenic morning while dining. The staff were very good and as with most good hotels in China, they offer a business centre with the ability to book flights. We booked our flight to Xi'an through this service. Traffic in Nanjing can be bad but if you don't mind public transport, the subway will get you around easily enough.

Really nice hotel with good rooms. Though they wouldnt let you in the rotating restaurant if you dont want to spend huge amounts of money to get a buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner. In my room you were able to hear people pulling and pushing tables and chairs upstairs very early in the morning, but I am guessing that is my bad luck being under some storage room or what. Other than that, is nice for the price you pay.

A very nice hotel - the best overall experience of our travels in China. Right by the metro to rail station and main sites, great view of lake from revolving restaurant (a short walk from hotel) and - unusually in my experience good food too (we only had breakfast but it was best (both Chinese and Western and including cook to order counters).

Stayed at this hotel in 2009 and the service is still at the same great level as before. The location is centralized around many things like shopping, scenic views, subways and for our purpose the exhibition center was across the street. The staff was very supportive, especially during this stay, as my son got ill. The staff helped in finding medical attention and providing more support to our family during our stay. Room is a bit smaller, however is good for a small family as ours or anyone doing business in Nanjing.

Good central location. Nice, clean and comfortable. However, you can feel that this is a Chinese standard (however a quite good) hotel and not a Western one. The gym was not much to get excited about and the swimming pool area had ash trays laid out so I got the impression they allowed smoking there - however, I'm not sure about this and no one smoked while I took a swim. They have some staff who can speak a bit of English, which is a plus. This is the only hotel in Nanjing that I have experience from so I can't really do a comparison. For the price I paid, I was quite happy with it and would recommend it to others, as long as they keep their expectations down a little.

The hotel is located right across the street from the lake Xuan wu entrance and right by the subway which can take you to and fuzimiao. Hotel staff was very friendly and rooms were very clean and comfortable. Will definitely recommend to others to stay here while in nanjing!

Staff extremely efficient and ready to help. ALWAYS SMILING! The room on small side, but location and ease of subway travel made up for difference. We were on the city side of the hotel, sixth floor, very quiet room. Walking the lake in early morning was a joy. If eating dinner in the revolving restaurant, ask for a table in the inner ring. We were seated by the window, but the window seats do not revolve! A good meal, on the pricey side. All dishes except desserts showed English names. Wiuld definitely stay there again.

A good 4 star hotel in Nanjing
Stayed three nights at Lakeview Xuanwu Hotel, Nanjing. The hotel is conveniently located near beautiful Xuanwu Lake, lots of restaurants on Hunan Road and Shiziqiao Pedestrian Street, and the subway station. Enjoy a nice morning stroll through Xuanwu Lake Park with the locals. In the evening, head out to Shiziqiao and try the local fare. The hotel room is nice and clean with all the typical amenities (soap, shampoo, in room safe, TV, complimentary bottle of water, etc.). Internet connection is reasonably fast, but you have to pay a small charge. The hotel has an excellent breakfast buffet to match an excellent view on top of their revolving restaurant. With the subway station literally just 100 yards away, you have easy access to all of Nanjing's major sites. The train station is also nearby, just 2 subway exits away.

This hotel was located right next to a subway stop just north of downtown Nanjing. For me, that was a great spot. The hotel is Chinese trying to be a 5 star hotel and does a pretty good job. I didn't eat there so have no idea what the food is like. Service was great. Condition is a little dated, but not too bad at all.

Rooms are very small - forget the lake view.
We booked 3 rooms, one of which a suite, all very small. Make sure you have a hotel confirmation number, not just the Expedia number, or the hotel will not honor it. There was a conference going on and the hotel told us they are sold out. We had to call Expedia to get the hotel give us the rooms. The lake view was a joke - you had to press your face on the window glass to see it - far away anyways. For rest of our Trip in Shanghai, Hangzhou, the hotels were much nicer for about the same price or less. The beds are not big enough for two people to sleep. Extra bed costs about $30.

We signed up for a room with a city or lake view, and from our window were able to view a 6 foot wall with tops of buildings peeping out from the top. The room was very small and not ornate like the photos or the description. It was more like a business travelers room. When we appealed to the staff they said they couldn't give us another room because there weren't any other rooms available. I have experienced many other rooms in Nanjing of a similar quality for about half the price of the Lakeview Xuan Wu, and offer free breakfast. That being said, the location and staff are very appealing, especially for those who don't speak Chinese. The hotel has many employees who speak excellent english both in person and over the phone, and they are very friendly and eager to please. We were able to speak to them about local sites and train ticket booking. The entrance of the hotel is directly across the street from the entrance of the Xuan Wu Lake park giving easy access to this wonderful attraction that is not to be missed. There is a subway entrance right next to the hotel, and at 9:30 on Monday morning Nanjing Train Station was less than a ten minute taxi ride away.
