This hotel room was booked for a short overnight business trip. It was a well suited room that fit perfectly for my needs for the evening.

Beautiful classic building

Posted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Noise.
Location: Right on the edge of the center of town. All store and restaurants easily in walking distance.
The main building of the Coffin House is a classic brick center hall. The annex, where we stayed, was a run of the mill hotel/motel. Very noisy. If we were to stay at the Coffin again, I would definitely request the main building.

A Beautiful Historic Hotel

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: It looked so "Nantucket". The outside and the décor were beautiful and beautifully maintained. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful.
Cons: The room was beautiful but inconvenient. I couldn't find a place to put my suitcase or other things. They had everything I might need except space.
Location: The location was excellent. It was downtown but quiet. It was near a lot of restaurants and the Whaling Museum and walking distance from everything
"Is this my hotel?". I gasped as the taxi drove up. The only brick building among the frame ones, it was exciting looking both outside and in the lobby. It is a former residence of one of the founding families. It was a two block walk from all the restaurants on the main street and in the same block as my favorite one, the Brotherhood of Thieves. My only criticism would be the clutter in my room. I was delighted when I walked in but less happy when I tried to find a place for my suitcase and had no room. They obviously had tried to anticipate all possible needs but forgot about the things the guests would bring with them. I had to fill almost every drawer with extra pillows, books, letter-writing implements, etc.

Classic Nantucket Inn gone a little tired

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Great location in center of town
Cons: Replace the imported staff with caring locals, update air conditioning
Staff were on the brusque side, slow to respond and follow up. Room had a window AC unit that rattled all night. Room was over the new Prime steak restaurant outside bar and seating very noises crowd until after 1 am. All the for $500 per night....

Business stay made more pleasurable

Posted Sep 28, 2014
I was there for. 2 nites on business, one being miserably rainy and it felt good to come here out if a cold rain. This place is wonderfully cozy & clean. My queen room was spacious with a great bathroom, big fluffy down comforter and good climate controls. Breakfast in the morning is early and a good selection . Will be back again. I even discovered an umbrella in the closet!

Perfect!

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Location, history of building
Cons: Nothing
Location: In the heart of Nantucket, all the restaurants, bars, museums, and shops are within walking distance. Can rent a bike or scooter to explore beaches.
Beautiful hotel in historic building and great location. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed. The staff are nice and helpful. Tasty continental breakfast provided. Prime (next door) was amazing! Definitely will stay again next time I'm in Nantucket!

A step back in time

We loved this hotel! It was like staying in an old plantation house! Lovely corner room, spotlessly clean and staff were very kind, respectful and helpful. The Russian coffee cake for breakfast was delicious. Also, the hotel restaurant was superb. We had the best steaks ever!

Big disparity in configuration, comfort and modernness of rooms. Terrace cafe is excellent (food and ambiance). Gracious staff.
