Walking distance to everythingPosted Jun 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Loved our stay, wished we could have stayed longer. Location is walking distance to everything except wineries(you would need a car) but feels cozy and secluded with charming landscaping. Manager and staff were very nice and very accomodating. Looking forward to going back again, this time for a longer stay. And breakfast was delicious!

Very PleasantPosted May 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a very nice, small facility with several cottages and a suite. We cam up to do some biking in the wind country. The breakfast was substantial, tasty and satisfying, served in a very nice commons area. There is a pool, though we didn't use it as it wasn't all that warm. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Location is two blocks from the main drag in Calistoga, which made it an easy stroll to explore the shops and galleries. We found our two night stay to be quite refreshing. This would not be a place for children. We aren't TV watchers, but the TV was quite old. The shower was very nice in our room.

Charming California bungalowPosted Apr 16, 2012
Pros: Location and charm
Cons: Yucky bathroom
Location: Excellent location, right around the block from downtown Calistoga on a quiet side street.
This is a charming little B & B just around the block from Calistoga's main street. Its an old California bungalow. Pluses--location, great breakfast room with great breakfast and nice fireplace. Friendly hostess but not too friendly--lots of privacy. Our room was the Palm Suite, which is the front rooms. It was like a little bungalow on its own, with a nice front room, lovely bedroom, gas stove-type fireplace. Nice linens. Downside? yucky bathroom. Linoleum from the 70s. Think of your grandma's bathroom. This is it. I think they need to gut it and make something worthy of a nice B and B. However that is the only bad thing.

Kitschy inn with good location in Calistoga.Posted Sep 13, 2011 on Hotels.com
I made a reservation at the Chelsea Garden Inn, but when we arrived, the innkeeper informed us that we would be staying at the bungalows next door called Chien Blanc. This was fine with us, but other guests might be annoyed that the bungalows are not as nice, they do not have access to the pool, and they do not include breakfast b/c there is a small kitchen. The Avignon bungalow was an eclectic mix of kitschy decor... Victorian stuff mixed with East Asian items and more generic ethic fabrics. The bathroom and kitchen are straight out of 1975. All that said, we liked having more privacy than we would have at the inn, and the bungalows also have access to a game room with a billiard table. The location is great... A two minute walk to all the shops and restaurants in Calistoga. Innkeeper is helpful and recommended some great wineries and a wonderful private tour operator.

Judy is a lovely hostess, but the very creaky floors in the room (and adjoining rooms) and very limited breakfast options make this a poor "B&B" option. Judy is very helpful with coupons and recommendations, but some upgrades or repairs of the room flooring and a different breakfast format would help make this cute little home a real B&B.

Calistoga surprisePosted May 28, 2011
B&B experiences can be hit or miss. Chelsea Garden was a HIT. The Palisades Room was homey & comfy. Judy went out of her way to make everything right for our visit. We have found a new go-to place when travels take us to the Napa Valley.
