Friendly staff and convenient Napa Valley location

Posted May 26, 2015
Although we did not have a private bathroom, the room itself was clean, large, and lots of character. the staff was very welcoming and found us the perfect room on a very busy holiday weekend. There was a very good complimentary breakfast included. We walked to shopping, dinner, and local night spots. It was so convenient to the wineries too. I would definitely stay here again.

Old hotel with limited comforts

Posted May 25, 2015
Cons: Air conditioning a little on the cool side with no controls in room. An extra blanket for the bed.
Very old building with small rooms, no chair to sit in to put your shoes on, only one nightstand with a faulty lamp. It was clean and bed comfortable. Wouldn't recommend for more than one night. Right in the middle of town convenient for shopping, but parking difficult.

Trapped by location

Posted May 18, 2015
The room was dirty. I took photos of the dust and debris under/behind the bed. The towels smelled sour, as if left in a washing machine for days. The window would not stay open properly, there was no screens on the window so mosquitoes ventured into the room. With the window shut, the room became stuffy and hot. While I realize this is an old hotel, the noise was disturbing. Guests constantly slamming doors and talking way too loud in common areas. If you are looking for a clean, relaxing stay - this is NOT the place for you. And with the price tag - it makes it even worse!!!

Very Overpriced

Rooms were small, breakfast minimal, staff unhelpful and general attitude was poor. All this for $450 per night

awese location

Location can't be beat but the price $550/night and size was worse than New York. Need to rip out all the musty carpeting and paint. Simple but cheap to fix

Awesome little hotel with a nostalgic feel. It's right in the middle of town so you can walk everywhere and the staff was great!

No room temp controls. Not very clean. Very loud. Can hear the restaraunts and shops late until the night and the loud drunk people walking around.

Gold Rush

Pros: Ambience
Cons: Updated Showers/Bathrooms they should be leveled and modernized.
Location: Perfect.
I had a terrific night's stay at the St. Helena Hotel. Such a friendly desk clerk who made me feel so welcomed. The building is an oldie but goodie Victorian. The room was a good size, bathroom in good shape. You cannot find better in terms of convenience. Breakfast was perfect and easy to access. Loved the old timey vibe.

NIce location and staff. Adequate for one night. The heat was overwhelming, however, and windows did not open.

quaint, but impractical

Posted Jan 19, 2015
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, however I would say overall that I wouldn't return. The rooms were so tight that the bed seemed like it took up the entire room itself, leaving a half a foot border to walk around it on all sides. The bathroom facilities were nice, but still cramped. I'd say the bathroom had more space to walk around inside than the bedroom.
