Feels like homePosted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: The location (just on the edge of town), the furnishings, the mattress, the personnel (all friendly and helpful).
Cons: I realize that California is under water restrictions, but I would have enjoyed a bit more water pressure in the shower.
Location: Calistoga is a perfect weekend getaway for foodies, spa seekers, people watchers and shoppers.
What's behind those green doors? The Sunburst has a unique theme - I'd call it "upbeat retro" with a kaleidoscope of character. Lucky me, I was upgraded to a king suite. My favourite feature was the super comfy bed. The linens, pillows and comforter were perfect for a good night's rest. The Sunburst offers a big flat screen TV (in both the bedroom and sitting room) with all my favourite cable channels. I was sorry that I didn't have time to enjoy the pool and hot tub. Definitely next time!

Surprising SunburstPosted Jan 3, 2015
Pros: The overall design was kind of 'retro', but everything was very bright and minimal. The mineral baths were clean and well maintained.
Cons: Different kind of coffee-maker? Earplugs?
Location: Perfectly located near the Silverado Trail for wine-tasting, biking, or nearby Robert Louis Stevenson State Park if you want to hike.
This was a kind of last minute booking for New Year's Eve/Day, and we were blown away by how great this hotel was. The mineral pools were perfect! Great warm wading pool, warm(ish) swimming pool, and spacious hot tub/spa. The room was small, but had everything we needed and was very clean. I was very happy to find a reasonably priced hotel in Calistoga that included a spa and was within walking distance of the cafes and shops in town. The only drawbacks we experienced were: thin walls were not in the least soundproof, and the noise from other rooms kept us awake; we did not receive the robes until after repeated requests; and, the coffee maker was a 'Keurig' kind of coffee maker, which means you get two cups of coffee, regular only. Those beefs were minor and only detract a little from our overall enjoyment of this great little hotel.

Great mineral pools and hot tubPosted Dec 31, 2014
Pros: Mineral pools and tub.
Cons: Please fix / maintain rain shower head.
Location: 10+ minute walking distance to the central Calistoga. So, we drove to the local cafe for breakfast. My husband went hiking with two teenagers near by.
A very family friendly hotel with great mineral pools and tub in three different temperature for everyone to play and/or relax. King suite is smallish but both bedroom area and living room area has own TV. King bed is very comfortable but pull-out queen bed is just OK. I think that there are too many furniture overall in King Suite. But it is good enough to share for a couple and two teenagers with moving few furniture around. Shower in the room is not functional. Not enough volume of hot water from rain shower head to shampoo......Two very comfortable bath robes and two complimentary water bottles in room are nice. Microwave access and free tea / coffee at the lobby. The local cafe serves great coffee, tea, breakfast sandwiches and scones with free breakfast vouchers given at hotel.

Cute and trendyPosted Oct 31, 2014 on Hotels.com
Fantastic little motel, but don't let that last word scare you. This was clean, modern, even trendy. I'd start here again in a heartbeat.

Cute little place in a cute little town!Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: It was cute, nicely decorated and clean. Loved the pools!
Cons: The room next door was a bit noisy, but didn't affect our sleep at all.
Location: Wineries and wine tours/tastings of course, the petrified forest and it's a short drive to any other valley town. We really enjoyed Schramsberg
We had a great stay. This place has a retro motel look, with clean, spacious, updated rooms. Calistoga is known for its hot springs and there is a hot tub, hot pool and regular temperature pool that are clean and well kept. It was a perfect place to spend a few hours each day or evening. If you've booked a package with free breakfast, you'll get a voucher to use in town for a coffee and a baked good (the scones were delicious!). The lobby has citrus ice water, fruit, coffee and starburst available. The walls were a tad thin, so if you're a very light sleeper, that may be a concern. We really enjoyed Calistoga with it's chilled out vibe. The Sunburst is a short 5 minute walk to main street. It may be smaller than Napa and the other valley towns, but the restaurants were great and it was an excellent hub for enjoying wine country. The Sunburst was great value - would definitely recommend!

Loved the THREE pools to relax inPosted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: We went midweek and felt we had the place to ourselves. Even though the weather report was gloomy, it was just perfect with the indoor spa
Cons: The noisy leaf blowers seemed to last too long. What happened to an old fashioned rake and broom?
Location: Located at the end of downtown Calistoga. A FREE Calistoga Shuttle pass was granted that provides public trans to bars/restaurants within 3 miles
Very friendly staff, and helpful when choosing where to go and where to eat/drink/explore. Passes for a choice of Tea/Coffee as well as a bagel with cream cheese from the Calistoga Roastery were provided. Tastings for local wineries were also available in the registration area. Fresh fruit, starburst candies, and lemon water are also available at the front desk. Comfortable robes were provided for the spa area. We stayed here before the place was remodeled and love the decor. Very comfortable pillow top beds and linens. Crazy OVERPRICED snacks available in the rooms. My guess is the candy must sit there and never rotate. A sweet touch from the maid bringing some sweets and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY greeting to my wife!
