September 2014 in Naples

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Staff and breakfast
Cons: We lost power during an overnight storm, no fault of theirs
Location: See above
The hotel was what was expected. The staff was helpful throughout the stay with directions and help with other daily recommendations. The first room when we got there did not have a bathtub as advertised on Expedia. We requested a tub in the bath and they immediately moved our room to the one next door. The hotel is a bit out of the way from the city center, the marina, and street market shopping. Our daily trek began with the 80 steps down to V. Crispi. Walking anywhere is easy from this spot though and the metro and bus stops are close enough to make getting around easier. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. The staff are attentive and the food good. We ate early each day and didn't think about food again until 1400-1500. We probably will not go to Naples again, there are so many other places in the world on our list of places to see. We did have fun while we were there, the people were great, the pizza at Pizzeria Tasso right around the corner and up the street was the best in all of Napoli, and the folks in each shop/ train station quite friendly and helpful. One thing I absolutely do not understand about a beautiful place like Naples is the trash on the street and graffiti. It was everywhere. I haven't seen this level in the rest of Europe. Maybe the new government will work on this next. Oh, and not one time did i experience, see, or hear of pick-pockets. If it is happening, we never saw any hint of it. We rode the planes, 3 types of trains, and a few cabs.

Hotel needs modification and a clean

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Hotel was outdated, dirty and in need of a make over. The staff on reception were very helpful. Unfortunately this can't be said for the restaurant staff. Breakfasts were an embarrassment and don't expect to use the jacuzzi or sauna unless you are prepared to pay/book. On the plus side the hotel is quite central. That's about it.

A little tired and well away from the city centre

Posted Aug 26, 2014
We found the hotel to be 'a little tired' and, although high on a hill with decent views of the bay, well away from the city centre. Probably relying on its reputation and more of a 3-4* than a 4-5* in terms of overall performance. The best tip I can give is don't stay in Naples anyway as there are far better things to do/see on the nearby islands and/or the beautiful Amalfi Coast.

Classic but needs updating

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Location & Views, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you!
Cons: It just needs a total refurb and updating this does not mean change anything just more attention to detail, carpets worn, furniture on last legs etc
Location: You have to visit Capri if you do nothing else its wonderful! Naples be prepared its like a rubbish dump, a very unkept and litter strewn city!
Yes its has great views, the staff who are few especially in the restaurant and bar battle to look after you ! Dont get me wrong the service is great but when you have to wait 25 minutes to get served at the bar thats pushing it!±

Nice hotel good location

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Roof lounge was excellent. Hotel staff behind the desk were friendly and helpful in recommending places to eat and making transportation arrangements
Cons: The staff in the lounge were not very friendly and were nothing like the hotel staff.
Location: The bay area with a beach, places to eat and churches were close by.
Hotel is located in a nice area, great view of the bay also in a safe area with easy access to places to eat and bank machine.

Great view from our balcony!

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Beautiful room! Wonderful, friendly service! The staff was warm & friendly. The room was large, clean, and very comfortable. The front desk & doormen were extremely helpful in getting us taxis & making sure we paid a fair fare for the ride. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as was the view from the outdoor dining room balcony. Hughly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again kn our return yo Napoli.

Relatively central location. Comfortable room.

Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: Authentic hotel for area. Comfortable and clean.
Cons: The breakfast could be improved including service and selection of more health food, eg more fruit & hot eggs.
Location: We walked to many tourist attractions-Archaeological museum, castles, waterfront, palace, via Toledo, Santa Chiara
Greeted upon arrival . Given information about hotel and highlights of area. Helpful front desk staff.
