views, pool, and quirkiness

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Fabulous views across city, bay and Vesuvius. Excellent helpful staff with good local knowledge. Quartieiri Spagnoli nothing like as risky as guidebooks suggest. Full of character and humour and STEPS. Nearby funicular saves a long uphill climb but finishes at 10. Taxis not expensive though. Only disappointment was the pool closure for 3 of our 5 days. Spoilt the fun a bit. Best to check they're not planning an 'extraordinary clean' during your visit.

Amazing hotel!

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: We really loved the character and charm of the hotel and how it wasn't just another chain hotel, it was so unique and really a pleasure to stay at.
Cons: The bathroom in our room while charming could use some modifications and signs of how to reach the restaurant would be helpful.
Location: There is a great little restaurant just down the street that we visited several times, it's the closest one to the hotel highly recommended.
What an amazing hotel to stay at. The overall experience was great, we loved our room, it was so big and the view was perfect! The location is a bit secluded up on the hill, but the cable car is fairly close and in only one stop you are surrounded by restaurants and shops. The hotel is so unique with stairs everywhere and adventuring through the halls, it was fun just to explore the hotel itself. We loved the character and features of the hotel, the breakfast was good and made better by the view of the water and Mt. Vesuvius.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff

Posted May 29, 2015
Pros: The views across Naples - Vesuvius was directly in front of us from our bedroom.
Cons: The price of drinks from the restaurant is a little steep given how cheap food/drink was in Naples centre. Therefore we avoided this.
Location: The location is fantastic! Very near to Castell St'Elmo and 2 furniculare stops.
I stayed at this hotel with my partner and we both thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hotel staff are very friendly and have a good grasp of English. They were able to recommend local restaurants to us and any need we had was catered for. The location of the hotel is also a great base for exploring Naples. The hotel is between two furniculare stations yet it is also very easy to walk into the main centres from the hotel (10-15 mins walk). If you require a taxi, Reception will have one ready for you in 2-3 mins. By far the best feature of this hotel is the view across Naples from the restaurant and the roof top pool - it even rivals the view from the nearby Castell Sant Elmo which we visited. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again if I revisit Naples.

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros:

This is a great hotel, made excellent by the view

Posted May 17, 2015
Pros: The view, location, the building and the facilities. I'll say the view again, it's worth another mention.
Cons: The sink & shower leaked a little & there were no tea of coffee making facilities: I know it's in Italy, but it's a 4* hotel & Travelodge better this
Location: Located in a residential area: the old city is but a short and cheap ride on the Funicular and stroll away. it's on a hill, hence the great views.
We had a lovely three night break at the Francesco Al Monte, staying in one of their suites. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating of our requests. The hotel was very clean and only a little tired looking in places: I took it to be part of the charm / patina that comes with it being an aged converted monastery. Our room was spacious, well equipped and furnished. Breakfast was a fantastic selection of typical offerings, washed down with a freshly made cappuccino: a great way to start the day while overlooking the city and Vesuvius from the 4th floor restaurant. The pool, bar, gardens and terrace are the metaphorical and literal peak of the hotels facilities, being located on the 7th floor / roof. The hotel has a commanding view from its hillside location, it is easily accessible from the airport (20 minutes by taxi) or to the rest of the city by funicular: there is one 500m in either direction that take you down to Piazza Dante or near the Palazzo Reale, or both lead up to Castel Sant Elmo. The sun shone, the food was great and the culture was rich and very interesting: this hotel provided the perfect back drop to it all and I would happily go back or recommend it to others.

One night stop in Naples

Posted May 9, 2015
Pros: The position and views
Cons: Staff, bar area, food
This hotel has the potential to be outstanding due to its fantastic position, however the staff were totally uninspiring and gave us no information about the hotel or Naples - we had to ask for a map, where was the bar, what time breakfast and where was it. A real shame.
