Under renovation, but a nice place to stay

Posted Jan 26, 2015
My husband and I spent 2 days in Nashville in Jan, 2015. We spent one night her at The Capitol Hotel. It's under renovation, which if this is an issue for you, then don't stay here. We found no problems with the renovation. The staff was phenomenal! From the valet to the women who set up and maIntain the spectacular FREE breakfast!! Very friendly, efficient and helpful! Our room was nicely decorated, albeit cramped and crowded. 2 beds take up the entire room then add a small chair, an armoire, dresser and desk and there isn't room to change your mind! One queen bed would be much better fit! Location is 3 blocks up from Broadway at the far end, away from the river. So it's handy to the honky tonks and the touristy section of Nashville! We will stay here on our next trip to Nashville!

Good price for the convenient, downtown location for the event I was attending. Yes, the hotel is still undergoing renovation construction. The room looked very nice and the beds were comfortable (firm) but the pillows were lumpy and felt cheap. The continental breakfast was good, and there was a nice variety. There was sausage for breakfast but no bacon, which made me sad. Overall, it was a pleasant experience-nothing fancy. Just a not so terrible place to sleep for one night.

this hotel is under construction and needs to make this aware to the customer! no lobby, drop cloths hanging everywhere. just close for a bit and finish, or offer cut rates during transition!

Only stay here if you are ok with rooms being open to the outside.

Location: Bridgestone Arena just a few blocks away - concerts hockey games
Under renovation but rooms nice and updated. We had stayed there several years ago and it's a lot cleaner and nicer. Staff was very nice.

Pros: Close to the District. The Valet Man. The ladies in the breakfast room.
Cons: The colored patches by each door still look like a Best Western. Ugh! Finish the construction.
Location: They said 3 block walk, however it was 6 blocks.
This hotel was close to the main district. It was a 6block walk to the Ryman and the Country Hall of Fame. The hotel was under construction. The valet was excellent. He was full of personality and helped us get our luggage to our room. He gave us a lot of information about things to do and see. The two gals running the breakfast room were so very friendly. It was unfortunate that there was not a restaurant in this hotel. However when the remoldling is completed there is supposed to be a bar and restaurant here. When the remoldling is completed, hopefully it will be a nice place to stay.

The lobby was under construction but it didn't impact our stay. Great location. Would stay there again.

Mislead

Hotel was not where we were told it was located. Hotel was still under construction after Expedia told us the construction was finished. Room good but I did not like going outside to get to my room after going through lobby.

low cost hotel in downtown nashville

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: staff
Cons: still feels like the old Best Western
Nashville is growing every day and fairly soon the downtown hotels will average over $300 per night. This is a low cost option in the heart of downtown but with most budget hotels, expects some problems and lack of perks. Great staff there on my visit which made it better.

Under construction and very very noisy.

Pros: Great view of the sunset from our location. Rooms are nice and clean.
Cons: Enclose the exterior walkways or do some noise control/sound proofing.
Location: Great location within walking distance to Broadway!
For $300+ per night seems steep for having to call the front desk/security twice in the middle of the night (2am and again around 3) for screaming-belligerent, drunken fighting neighbors- and then again for partying/yelling guests all night up and down the outdoor walk ways in front of our room- The rooms themselves are nicely renovated but not much else in the Hotel is even close to being finished.
