Compass point was the perfect getaway from the city and the mobs of tourists. My boyfriend and I wanted a place away from all the hustle and bustle of a commercial hotel. The city is about a 20-30 min cab ride away. The hotel has a cabby who was very friendly and punctual. Thanks Leo! There are also plenty of places to explore nearby. Their beautiful Caribbean style huts add to the Bahamian experience. The rooms were very clean and the view is spectacular. We had room service on our porch every morning! The restaurant has lots of options to choose from. They have live bands play in the evening. One of the nights was a great reggae band that I really enjoyed. And to unwind after a long day, visit the spa for a full body massage! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They went out of their way (especially Phillip) to help my boyfriend propose to me on the pier. It was truly a magical experience and I couldn't have imagined a better place to do it!

It had everything we wanted. Two great pools, a beautiful beach with a private access, a wonderful outdoor bar/restaurant. Best part -- not a lot of people, like the big hotels (RIU, Atlantis). Rooms were ok. Big and roomy. Bathrooms could use a little updating but were clean and functional. We had a one bedroom, with a queen hideabed and a bath and a half. Every unit had a lanai and the grounds were well maintained. We liked this place a lot.

Harborside is a great way to visit Atlantis. All the units are small apartments, not just a hotel room. So the parents have a bedroom separate from the kids. Our kids slept on a fold out couch, or some units have 2 bedrooms I believe. You have full access to the Atlantis water parks, beaches and activities. It is much better than a standard hotel room, you get a kitchen and washer and dryer.
Atlantis is so spread out that no matter where you stay, you will be walking. Harbor side is a little out of the way, but really worth it! There are free shuttles that take you to the other towers if you want them. We chose to walk most of the time.
There are No shuttles to the Airport though. Not from any Atlantis hotel. That sucked.
Atlantis really gets you on every nickel and dime. Harbor side has to go by the Atlantis rules, but they are helpful in finding you alternatives as well. It is a time share, and they did politely invite us to their schpeel, but when we declined, they didn't push it even a little bit. They were very nice about it.
I do recommend the harbor side if you're planning to visit Atlantis.

We live in the Bahamas, the staff that was taking care of us was really excellent , this is quiet unusual as in the past I was not always happy with the staff at Atlantis specially the front desk.
This time all of them were very friendly.

No travel off the resort grounds is necessary. If you want a getaway where a full range of entertainment is provided on site(casino, high end shops, beaches, water theme park, fine dining etc), this is the place. However, to get the true Bahamian experience, you will need to go into Nassau proper and visit restaurants and shops where the locals go, visit the sites with historical significance--or if you are fortunate enough to be there during the Christmas/New Year period--go to the Junkanoo Parade. Authentic, and fabulous traditional food can be found at the Fish Fry or at Potters Cay and is worth the short trip from PI.

Every day we tried a new pool because they each have their own atmosphere. The slides and rapid river are awesome! There is so much to see, we discovered new lagoons and sights every day. Virgils restaurant was amazing! The spa was beautiful too. The resort is extremely large so there is a lot of walking.

This was our second trip to this hotel. Last year I went with my wife and this year we returned with the kids. It was great both times. The staff is very helpful and able to answer questions about almost anything. The room we stayed in both times is like a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. The bed is comfortable and they clean the rooms very well every day. The location is amazing. It is on a more secluded part of the island and the water is clear, clean, and usually calm. One of the things we liked about this location is that most of the time, except weekends and holidays, there are very few people around including on the beach. It is like having your own little piece of paradise. You do not have to put up with the cruise ship crowds or the busy resorts. Just pure relaxation. The snorkeling near the resort is alright but is better if you make the short trip to the jetty. Also, I would suggest renting a car for the week in case you want to venture around the island. A trip to Nassau for 2 will cost $80 round trip and a rental car is only about $350 for the week. There is also a lot to see around the island and many places it is great to stop and take in the moment or take some pictures. I will caution that if you want a party crowd or love the resort and fine dining this may not be the place for you. If relaxing and enjoying some swimming, snorkeling, sitting on the beach feeling calm and not being bothered you will love this place as we did. We plan on a return trip
