Hotel Meliá, Nassau BahamasPosted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: This hotel is giant; three pools, a restaurant, a club, an enormously helpful staff, a beautiful beach, and close but not too close to the airport.
Cons: Check-in time. I'm confident they will have it corrected by our next visit, though.
Location: The Meliá is close-enough to everything to suit anyone's needs; beach, pool, restaurants, museums, Ardastra, Queen's Staircase, etc...
Although several reviews we read left us skeptical, the print couldn't have been further from the truth. The Meliá was amazing. The location was amazing. The beach was amazing. The view from our room was amazing. Our room was amazing. The housekeeping staff was amazing. There isn't a better location on the island for access to everything. The ONLY thing that wasn't was the check-in process. Apparently, they've installed a new computer system, and there are still issues. Be prepared to wait a little, but the desk staff is apologetic and it was truly all hands on deck. They WERE trying and also apologized additionally with a 20.00 credit. We do recommend renting a car for the best access to the island. Waiting for a bus or paying for a cab is cool, but we wanted to see everything, and the Meliá is close to it all.

A bit long in the toothPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: Elevators are fast and the beach is nice.
For the price - it offers a great beach experience but the hotel seems to be on borrowed time. Staff is friendly. The conditions of the hotel (carpets stained, paint chipping, cracks in tile, showerhead bad, etc) are poor.

Nice tripPosted Mar 1, 2014
Location: A few restaurants are walkable distance. DQ for ice cream at night is open late.
Everything was nice. Expect long check-in time. Took an hour to check-in, then still had to wait until after 4 for our room to be ready. Food at the buffet was good, but had a disappointing meal at their restaurant. Nice beach with water sports directly out back. Bus stops out front to town, only $1.50 per person. Very convenient. About a 10 minute ride. Not much open near the hotel, so expect to go into town for entertainment.

Great place to stayPosted Feb 27, 2014
Overall a great place...staff was very friendly. Only negative is the long wait to check in. Beach and pool were great..a place which u can stay in and not have to leave the site. Having the blackjack table on the deck Saturday might was great

Expensive and just ok, not greatPosted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Location. It's in a nice part of town.
Cons: Needs better cleaning.
The hotel is ok. Not great, not terrible. Just expensive. I was not expecting the resort fee. I didn't really enjoy any amenities because I was headed on an early boat ride the next day to Eleuthra. They said they couldn't waive the fee. I only booked it because it looked decent in pictures.

Good Value (not AI)Feb 17th through 20tPosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Very clean rooms, excellent grounds (pools, beach and activities), close to the airport.
Cons: Faster Check in/ Checkout, provide better knowledge of restaurants within walking distance instead of constantly taking taxis around the island.
Location: There is a Daiquiri shack across the street, $6 they also have burgers and fries combo for $8, drinks use fresh fruit and burgers are great
Hotel Check in is very slow, be prepared to wait 30 min, although our room was ready for us, some people were waiting for a few hours past check in time to get to their room. We booked the classic Island view but our room had a view of the pool and partial ocean view, room was very clean and furniture was nice, hotel grounds are also well manicured and look upscale, only downside is the club music they are playing in the main pool all day but not a big deal. Plenty to do there, 3 pools (although only 1 is heated), Bball course and kayaks ect, although there is plenty to see on the island so i wouldn't spend the entire trip at the hotel. Food and drink is pricey ($7 beers and $10-12 cocktails), easily spend 25-50 pp on any given meal depending on how thirsty you are, we didnt go for the all all inclusive rate of 150pp per day, instead we went out to eat at various restaurants on the island for roughly the same prices and feel that we ate better than we would have at the hotel based on reviews. In summary we really enjoyed our stay and we were pleasantly surprised, great service (remember its island time, there is no rush).

6 Nights at the MeliaPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Location good to avoid Nassau traffic
Cons: Security to patrol and warn some very loud guests to keep, it down at 04:00am
Location: Mid point of island - good access to airport - Atlantis resort $20 dollar taxi ride
Good Hotel, Cavernous public areas, Free Wi Fi but not in rooms, lots of noisy guests
