cozy and cute!Posted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
My fiance and I really enjoyed our stay at this friendly, quaint resort! They had a nicely maintained, warm pool, and an outdoor bar and grill area where Chef Cleveland made our breakfasts and dinners. We thought staff members were all very kind and helpful. We even signed up for a poolside massage with Janna and enjoyed her compassionate approach to our aches and pains. The resort was within walking distance of several restaurants and conveniences. We had access to free computer use in the lobby and free WIFI. Another very nice feature was the free airport shuttle. And a cheap bus ride to town was also available to us. I just hope this place can continue to offer its reasonable rates with high quality service, because we certainly will be returning in the near future!

Loved Sandyport Resort!Posted Aug 6, 2013
Pros: Spacious rooms, very clean and loved our view of the water. Loved the in room jacuzzi!!
Cons: The bar and restaurant at the pool was closed even though we were told he would be "back in 30 minutes" and the other restaurants are a bit of a walk
Location: Its close to the airport but a distance from down town. we took a taxi into town and were happy with it. A bus is available as well.
We stayed for two days here. We loved our room, very spacious and clean. We were on the bottom floor and facing toward the water. Very peaceful and relaxing!

Beaches and fishPosted Jul 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
If you don't like crowds and want to see fish, stingrays, and other sea life in their natural habitat, Sandyport is for you. The units are only second story so walking down one flight of steps (or out your room door) gets you to the pool and lagoon beach. It is a quick walk to the ocean beach. The ocean beach is not cleaned so there is some sea weed. Crabs can be watched. The snorkeling is interesting and easy by the pier. The nearby center had decent restaurants. The meals everywhere in the Bahamas were huge so we used the kitchenette to reheat leftovers. The grocery store was a 5 minute walk and had good tropical fruit. The downside was the beds and linens were not very comfortable and the water pressure was low. Wifi was not free and hard to access so we used the computers in the main building. The jitney (bus) driver were friendly and informative so we enjoed our $1.25 rides into downtown Nassau. We'd go back.

Disappointing stopover in NassauPosted Jul 10, 2013
Pros: Large rooms, pretty property.
Cons: Hotel needs better way to communicate what is and is not available. Despite a reservation a month in advance, seems they were surprised by our arrival
Location: Convenient to airport
We just needed a comfortable suite close to the airport for one night in Nassau before we went on to our final destination. Positives: the property is nice & seems well maintained. Negatives: we arrived at 9:00 p.m. and there was only one person at the front desk. Although we booked our room over a month in advance, she was surprised to learn we needed adjoining rooms (6 of us traveling). We had to wait a while so she could figure out where to put us. I had requested a rollaway mattress and crib and had called to confirm a few days prior. They were not available. There was no one available to help us with our luggage, so we had to haul 6 suitcases, a stroller & a carseat up a flight of stairs. The biggest disappointment, however, was when, exhausted & ready for bed, we found there was NO RUNNING WATER! The city government shuts off the water at 10:00 p.m. Large hotels usually have a reserve, but apparently Sandyport does not. Really frustrating! The woman at the front desk did the best she could (brought us jugs of water, found us a luggage cart, was friendly, etc), but overall not a good experience.

Good place for short visit or in transitPosted Jul 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
The resort is close enough to the airport (the taxi ride was 18 $) if you're heading for another island and don't want to spend the time in downtown Nassau, but at a rather quiet place. Downtown is just a hop away with jitney bus no. 10. The room was reasonably price (considering Bahamas/Nassau). The beach close by is good for the first dip into the ocean and a first snorkel experience. The pool area is fine, too. We stayed from Fri to Sun and only by coincidence participated in the introduction breakfast that takes place on Sundays (only). Would have been nice with such an extensive information about the facilities and excursion options as we did not get all of this from the booklet in the hotel room. Also, the quality of the stay would clearly benefit if they'd offer breakfast every day. As we understood, the mall and whole neighborhood is still somewhat under construction, so even though this means highly appreciated quietness, there are not so many places to go to for breakfast. Anyway, we would stay again at Sandyport (then choosing a room facing the Laguna, we had one facing the pool area) for a visit for up to three days or so.

Nice hotel and conveniently located close to airport. A little far (10 min walk) from groceries and limited restaurants in the area but the one close to the hotel was very good (a bit pricey though). Stayed one night on two occasions (travelling to/from remote islands). First night, we had an upgrade (no charge) to a condo unit that was very spacious. Second night, we had a hotel room which was very nice but not particularly unusual. The grounds are nicely kept and the pool was reasonably clean.

Inconvenient location, too far awayPosted Jun 10, 2013
Pros: The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Cons: The facility dearly needs upgraded to today's standards for resorts.
Location: The location was inconvenient to everything. I can't say this enough. You MUST rent a car if you choose to stay here.
We were here for 3 nights to celebrate our first anniversary. I would not call this facility a resort. It was more along the lines of an economy time-share. By my standards, it was not clean, but it was not filthy either. The floor needed a really good scrub and the bathroom needed clorox badly. It has extremely limited facilities, no public hot tub (but you can get a room with these), no public bar, nothing except a small pool with 2 very small slide for kids. The beach is away from the resort via a walkway under the highway. If you stay here, you MUST rent a car (this is 10 miles from town). There are very few restaurants around. Taxis are expensive (about $20 for a 3 mile trip) and the buses ($1.25 each way) only run until 6pm. There are 4 highly priced restaurants in the area (you're a captive audience w/o a car). I highly advise you to rent a room with a kitchenette (there is a grocery store about 1/4 mile towards town & restaurants are high)), rent a car to get around, or stay closer to town so that you're more centered to activities. We are an older couple, certainly not party people, and we found the options in this area to be very limiting. We will stay at a facility with more options for guests (kayaking/ocean front/ hot tubs/ outside bar/ landscaping/etc.) closer to town. There is a reason this was a little less expensive than other resorts. You DO get what you pay for. It takes a fair amount of time to navigate from this location to areas of interest.
