Good resort
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: I liked that they have entertainment nightly and the staff. The resort grounds were clean and well kept.
Cons: The room could use some updating and a different detergent because the towels and sheets smell.
Location: 7 mile beach and half moon beach is really close.
Overall the resort is good. The room is a little dated with a small tv but its ok. My main concern is that the towels smell even the new ones. They should use a new detergent. The kids pool was dirty and the kids club was usually closed. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Loved Club Riu!
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: Food, Beach, and Evening Entertainment were my favs
Cons: I really can't complain.
Location: Location was good
My boyfriend and I had a great time at Club Riu! The staff was very friendly, food excellent, and drinks strong! There was plenty of sun and shade on the beach. The pool was very nice with lots of lounge chairs. I recommend eating at the Gourmet restaurant - reservation only. The entertainment was good and they had a show everynight. There was no need to leave the resort at night to find something fun. The jerk chicken on the beach was the best I ever had. They had this everyday from 11:30 - 3:30pm. Our room was the furthest from the main lobby and was a bit of a walk but we did not mind. It was quiet and the room was nice. There are people selling things on the beach and people singing but It wasn't too overwhelming.

Club Hotel Riu Negril
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: I liked the the proximity to the beach and the fact that there are hotels with smoking rooms still.
Cons: Gym, TV's, and having free wifi
Location: well there are multiple activities such as beach parties, activities in their grand hall, their is an on premise disco and many local spots to visit
It was a good experience but it did take a long time to check in and they didnt have shuttles from the airport. But overall I was pleased with my stay and the staff was friendly.

Great hotel for couples!
Posted Jan 26, 2013
Pros: Buffets, location, beach, excursion options, entertainment!
Cons: specialty restaurants
Location: Great Location in Negril! Resort located right on the beach.
The grounds were beautiful, and the entertainment during the day and night were amazing! My only complaint was that the specialty restaurants were lacking in options. We only went one, because the other two restaurants were also the locations of the buffet. We choose the other restaurant to get a change of scenery, but it wasnt very good. We ended up eating at the buffet after. The buffets were amazing! Great selection and variety, and one night was Jamaican night, which had amazing options! The buffets were the best part!

excellent beach
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: beaches..service and entertaining employees..
Cons: i would limit the outside vendors on the beach if it were legally possible..
Location: hour and half from airport but even the ride to and from was entertaining....ricks cafe...fishing but personally there was all i wanted on site
overall one of my best trips ever..however i would avoid the wild thing outing ...not to my liking..probally ok for animal house types..the beaches were excellent and well maintained... a storm at sea that deposited a large amount of sea grass on the beach...they got a bulldozier and had it back to great condition in no time..entertaintment was great and although ididnt have any children i noticed they had plenty of activities for them and seemed to have a great time...food was ok but im not a real picky eater...loved the chicken shack for lunch...

The Wedding Crashers' Review

We are not fans of 'all inclusive' type resorts, However ClubHotel Rui -Negril is an exception. Our first stay a Rui and it was well worth it. The food and drink was very good, you even have bottles in your room to pour your own drinks. The people are outstanding, complex is well run and well maintained. Contrary to many reviews, fine dining is readily available, you book 2 days ahead, just make sure you get up in the AM to make your reservations. We went to all 3 restaurants, however the food in the general buffet was just as good with much more variety. Many people there said they have been ther multiple times in prior years, some as many as 15 years in a row! This says something about the resort.

Mostly good, but some bad.
Posted Jan 25, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Money Hungry employees
First off, BOOK THE TRANSPORTATION THRU THE RESORT/EXPEDIA FROM AND TO THE AIRPORT, otherwise you will pay $100 each way. The location is amazing! YES, there are vendors on the beach, all you have to do, is smile and kindly say "no thank you, I'm ok" and they will leave you alone. We, the tourists are their main source of income, so as we are in their territory, we have to understand.Food was alright, 6 out of 10. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and who cares about the outdated TV?? Is that why you went to Jamaica? To watch TV?!? Now, the only bad thing about the experience is that, since you are pretty much isolated, if you need anything, like a tylenol,BE PREPARED TO TIP YOUR MONEY AWAY. Basically, if you sneeze, and anyone in the resort says "Bless You", they expect a tip.The entertainment at night is as cheesy as it gets, and the band that plays in between is ok to say the most. But again, when you are drunk on all inclusive alcohol, you won't care for most things. Bottom shelf booze, but it will do the trick. Red Stripe in Jamaica seems to be stronger, so if the Rum Punch isn't doing it for you, drink that. For the "reservation based" restaurants, you need to reserve 48 hours before...but we didn't care about that either. Big shout out to Kevin our BellMan, and of course Wayne, our cabdriver! Those two get a 11 out of 10! Other than that, the staff was helpful (with or without a tip) and courteous. If you thought they were rude in anyway, maybe you were the problem.

Entertainment staff make this a fun place to stay
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Entertainment staff
Cons: Impossible to get reservations for restaurants
Location: Easy to enjoy both pool and beach
Three star hotel with great staff. The hotel is fine (as advertised) - pleasant & comfortable, but the staff really make it enjoyable, especially the poolside & evening entertainment staff. One complaint - although they advertise three specialty restaurants, they were very difficult to get into. You had to make reservations 2 days in advance (which means you can't get into any of them until your third evening because they are booked up by 8am). In addition one of the three restaurants was closed nearly every night for a wedding. I don't want to make this review sound too negative, I would recommend the hotel, but just want to set your expectations properly.
