“If you want a vacation, do not use this hotel”
The resort was decent but what made it all horrible was the service and food. The hotel staff are all singing and yelling "Yeah mon! How are you?" It felt unprofessional and lacked class. The room was air conditioned with swap cooling; not A/C. Therefore the A/C was uncomfortable. I booked with RIU Palace and ended up in RIU Club. I booked an oceanview and was almost forced into a garden view literally a .2 mile walk from the main lobby. After 2 hours of being miserable, they gave me the originally booked oceanview. The rooms are mildewy smelling and all the hotel towels are brown. The only good point to the room was the water pressure. If you want truly all-inclusive, do not stay here. You are expected to tip and if you don't, you will not be served. The food was terrible and the spreads were minimal. The eggs tasted like pancakes, the breads were stale and the fruits were not ripe. The coffee was excellent however. The beaches were okay. If you just want to do a quick cheap getaway to get drunk and do "activities," use this resort. But if you really want a no-hassle vacation in paradise, stay somewhere nicer and more professional.
“Nice place to stay in Negril”
Excellent Service. Nice people.Great beach
“Enjoyed the stay”
Staff was friendly. Food was great. Alcohol enjoyed. Entertainment was okay. Response was prompt. Overall atmosphere was good.
“Will be going back”
Great beach, some toppless sun bathers. Hotel has no elevator. Food was good buffet had something for everyone. Very calm clear water perfect for novice snorkel. Stay in block 2 or 3. 1 is to close to the nighly entertainment. 4&5 are to far. Getting to the hotel use Dudley's Big Ship Tours. Clean van and fun guy
“lux”
the hotel and the room was very nice, and food was better than what i expected. you have your own drinks in your room. the concern i had was they didn't come change my towels as they said they will, and i could not have a bath there since they don't let you plug the bath tub.
“like RIU mobay better”
I understand that it was Holiday weekend in Jamaica. They don't have enough food for everybody on buffet and close 10:30am for breakfast even though so many people was waiting on line to get food. We have to wait till fill up the emply tray. I would not go back again...
“Wow! what can I but Wow!”
The Riu in Negril was so beautiful. If you ever been to Ceasar Palace in Vegas where they display the fine art and statues of women holding the vase and water pouring from them. I'm telling you the landscaping was breath taking and the entertainment set-up was awesome. Now you don't see this too often but the Buffett hosts were in black and white each evening servering your bevarages and the tables where set with white linen table cloths every evening. I almost didn't need to make reservations at the other Resturants but I did just because I could and it was all in the package price.Hint the Italian Resturant was my choice for my Birthday and they did an awsome job. Name on the plate with my dessert was welled displayed with chocolate swirves. I can't wait to visit other Riu properties.
“RIU Club Vacation”
Hotel is situated in a beautiful strip of beach in the clear waters of Negril. Hotel is very very clean with staff cleaning non-stop! Rooms are very confortable with a nicely stocked bar (included!). Pools are clean and large, one with a nice pool bar. Resort has many activities to keep everyone entertained and the staff is very talented- they all have crazy talents! Restaurants are nice and food is well prepared. From the minute you walk in you are really treated well as the staff tries very hard to make your stay as confortable as possible. Resort is located about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Montego Bay Airport (not a bad drive at all) and 15 minutes from downtown for shopping. Taxis are available at the resort, took a couple rides- very safe. Taxi actually waits for you while you shop! All in all, great experience!
“Great Hotel, Great Value”
I've been to the RIU in Negril three times and have enjoyed it. The hotel is very well maintained, the staff friendly, the beach with lots of trees for shade is very nice, the water is beautiful and relatively calm for relaxing and floating. The food is plentiful but not the most tasty--which is understandable due to the bulk of food that is prepared each day. I like that everything is included including drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You don't have to carry money around with you. On the downsize, some restaurents require reservations and serve relatively small groups. Wish there were more choices for restaurant or at least an offer of room service for a light meal if you're not in the mood to go out to one of the restaurants. One last thing, the jerk chicken on the beach is a real plus!
“Rude service, food average wil not recommend it.”
The staff is pretty rude, including the entertainment staff which is supossed to be charming and nice. Understaffed at dining rooms makes every meal stressful. Taking a cab to go anywhere is insanely expensive, prices dictated by a rude woman at the taxi desk.
