I stayed at the riu in Dec of 14. The all inclusive was nice but lacking a full bar. The buffet food was good but I would recommend making reservations for the a tall restraunts. Location is the eastern most resort there. Only negative on the resort was all the bees flying around the bars

Lots of drinks, great food, and happy atmosphere. The employees are very friendly! The only two negative comments I have are the night life entertainment could use a bit of work, and the vendors walking around the beach get very annoying very quick trying to constantly sell you things. Resorts should keep such people out. Otherwise the resort is great and in a great location. Very beautiful!

Pros: Very family oriented and safe enviroment
Cons: Better air conditioning in the rooms, never cool enough and we came during their winder season, can't imagine summer!
Location: Swim with the Dolphins, Harley Shop, Snorkeling, swimming in ocean/pool, beach volley ball
Absolutely wonderful! The staff made things so much fun with great nightly shows and things for the kids to do. The spa was wonderful. Make sure you book the 5 hr cruise to Rick's Café. Amazing!

Nice resort close to the beach!

The resort is nice and people are nice and friendly! the water in front of the resort was the greatest (lots of algae) but within 5 min walk you can get crystalline clear water. Food Was good but we could not get to eat in any ofg the restaurants a la carte because they were all booked at any time every day. Overall was a place I would recommend.

Nice hotel close to the beach

Cons: Local food offering
Location: We took tour that for a 1.5 hr location. It was ok, we knew it would take that long to get there.
The hotel is in good shape, cleanliness, and location. The staff is very friendly and amicable. The room is very clean, except for the Air Conditioning was not working well. We asked the reception to fix it couple times and no success. Room switch was not suggested. There is need for more offerings and variety of local food. We always seek to enjoy and learn the local food.

Hotel was ok, people nice, but the water in front of Hotel was murky with lots of Jelly Fish, my son wS stung 7 times!!! Just next to the resort the water was much better!!

Pros: The shops on the beach, the 2 mile walk on the beach - caution for kids (topless areas), the shows, room quality, food choices,.
Cons: Service attitude - extremely show and lacks energy at all - maybe an island thing. Partnership with expedia is clearly frowned on
Location: YS falls, Black river safari, Rick's cafe - all recommended, 90 minutes out
Overall not a bad experience, but over priced for the quality. Definitely not above a 3 star. Upon check in, with a party of 6 families, having booked an ocean front room - two of us had booked from expedia, others from other websites. Only the two of us were denied our rooms - the check in lady Natassa, even claimed go ask expedia for a refund, they dont pay us anyways for 60 days. Once we met the supervisor Maya the next day, the problem was sorted. The grounds are clean and neat. The bars are all surrounded by actual bees hovering around the smoothie mixers - its a miracle no one gets stung. The lackadasical attitude of the service folks was just short of appalling - but maybe here in the US we are used to something else. Try to get rooms in building 1 - everything else is a walk .... back at night to the shows or the pool. The restaurants require lining up at 8 am to make reservations 2 days in advance, which means the first 2 days of your stay are essentially buffet meals - Breakfast lunch and dinner. The buffet itself is a feast - mangoes that are heavenly - but gets boring after a couple meals. Getting service for an alcoholic beverage takes for ever in the buffer place. Tried sit down at Luigis and Sir Andrews - both from fixed meals. Chef had a hard time understanding vegetarian requests for a few in the group, but did deliver at the end of the day. The christmas day show was fantastic, as were the other days - shows are at 930 pm prompt. Poor inclusive wine or liqor

Pros: That the maids did a good job cleaning.
Cons: Everything could be improved.
Location: Your are an hour and 40 minutes to the nearest airport and city.
Horrible place, would never go there again. No room service, no elevators, staff rude, children in diapers at the pool bar, pool dirty, food not great, beach area was full of chairs but there were so many weeds in the water you didn't want to swim. strangers on the beach selling illegal things. NOT A NICE PLACE.
