Beautiful resort friendly staffPosted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: The food and entertainment were great
Cons: The seaweed in front of the hotel should be raked out or removed. There were stingrays swimming around my feet.
Location: Close to Ricks Cafe and major banks, shopping. A smaill restaurant on the beach for fresh seafood provided by local fishermen. Water sports and boat

Wonderful place to be!Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: Beautiful grounds, nice people, great food
Cons: It'd be great to not have all that algae/seaweed but that's the ocean...
Location: Just past the hotel on the beach is a string of locals selling their wares. It's a nice walk and a great way to meet some wonderful people.
This is my second time at a Riu Hotel, the first being at the one in Ocho Rios when they first opened up. We usually like to stay at 3 star hotels but this time decided a nice resort was what we were looking for. This is a beautiful place. The entertainment is great. The food is delicious and there is a lot to choose from, both native and international cuisine. The beach is nice but I was disappointed to see that there is a lot of algae/seaweed in this location. I even got stung by a jelly fish, pretty good I must say, but that's how it goes in nature. The lifeguard put vinegar on it right away but I still went to see the nurse since I was not feeling very well afterwards and was concerned. I've never had need of medical attention before on vacation so I wasn't sure what to expect. She said I was having an allergic reaction (I'm not allergic to anything except jelly fish I guess) and she could give me a shot of Benadryl for $30 or I could try an allergy medicine from the gift shop for $3. I opted for the $3 first and it seemed to work. Had I needed a doctor it would've cost me $200, just an FYI. Anyway the employees were very friendly and accommodating, and there are very little hassles on the beach from the locals. They still try to peddle their wares but just be respectful, hardly anyone harasses you to buy, they're just trying to make a living like the rest of us. Respect mon. Jamaicans are great, it's like you have friends everywhere! We'd definitely stay here again.

With its all inclusive package, the experience was better than a cruise.

AmazingPosted Sep 8, 2014
From the food to the hotel staff, this resort was amazing! The staff took the time to get to know each guest and interacted with us on a daily basis including the hotel manager, Alex. The entertainment staff was out of this world. We're already planning our next trip and we just came back this morning!

My 40th birthday gift!Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: We pretty much enjoyed and appreciated everything RIU had to offer!
Cons: The food flavoring, drinkings some of the drinks were water down. Oh and the Spanish paella dish needed some serious cleaning of the shrimps!
Location: Location was fabulous and there was plenty to do in and around the resort and local areas. Boating, Shopping, Dolphins, etc there is a great deal to do
This was a great experience for me and my daughter. we enjoyed the facility, however there are some things that could be better the food was good, but there wasn't enough seasonings especially for the native/Jamaican foods. What we really did enjoy and appreciate was the RIU entertainment staff Chadwick, Spotlight, Angel Eyes, Fyah etc... they were truly AMAZING!!!! their interaction with everyone was great and they keep us entertained. I commend them all for doing such a FANTASTIC JOB!!! if it wasn't for them the place would definitely dull and dry! We thank you all from our hearts for making my 40th birthday such an enjoyable and pleasing experience.

Over-run by locals who were not registered at hotePosted Aug 26, 2014
The hotel was okay at best. We were not expecting the Ritz Carlton by any means, but did expect the grounds to at least be sanitary. The bathrooms smelled horrible and the pool looked dirty all of the time (food floating in the pool). The rooms were kept cleaned by housekeeping so that was fine. The main thing that we noticed is that there were too many locals staying that were not registered guests at the hotel. Every day we saw people taking multiple plates out of the buffet restaurants and giving them to others they were with who were not registered guests. There were actually a large number of groups doing this. It was like two people would have wrist bands on but then they would have an entire other family with them that they would sneak food out to. This was an issue because it would take forever to get food because each person would get two and three plates per person. It was very obvious and almost distracting.

HOTEL STAYPosted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: The beach and pool area
Cons: The service staff attitude and willingness to help
Location: no close to anything
The overall condition of the hotel is good, but he service staff lacks customer service skills. It seems it is an inconvenience when asking for a drink at the bars and the front desk gives you the run around.
