Excellent Location Slightly AboveAvg AccommodationPosted Apr 10, 2015
Cons: More seafood. The beds are hard and the linens rough. I can sleep on anything so it did not bother me. Bothered other guests and my kids.
The location is exceptional. The Bloody Bay is beautiful with calm waters for swimming. The resort is very nice and the staff is terrific. The pool area, bars and restaurants are what you would expect for a nice resort. Nothing over the top and nothing that would differentiate it from other resorts. Food and drinks are included but it is far from "All Inclusive". Any additional activities come at an additional charge. I do not think is was a good value. With that said, it was a great vacation. I would not spend the extra money for this resort.

Very nice resort!!!!Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Food, beach wait staff, cooks and bartenders.
Cons: Better mattresses and pillows.
We had a traveling party of 22 stay at the resort. We all were very pleased with all the services provided. The wait staff and cooks were always friendly, courteous and worked very hard to make sure we needed everything we needed. On top of that all the food was excellent. They had the beach and resort picked up and orderly the next morning afterthe previous days activities. My wife and myself plan a trip back to the same resort in the near future.

Beautiful beach. Average property.Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: nice beach good food mostly friendly staff not crowded Cons: ants in room beds not comfortable for 2 area seems to get LOTS of rain other property far away with no shuttle for night activities one grouchy employee sweeping steps, yelling to stay out of sand! We have stayed at Riu Palace in Punta Cana and expected more options for entertainment and dining at connecting resort.

Awesome hotel, great location.Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location, beautiful grounds & beautiful beach.
Cons: television...I know you don't go to Jamaica to watch television, but winding down at night & news in the morning is a must.
Location: We enjoyed the beach & watersports, a tour to the shopping square and Ricks Café on the cliffs was a nice change of scenery.
This was our first trip to Jamaica and it was a wonderful trip & the RIU Palace was a beautiful place to stay. We had a great room & great service. Good food & a good location. The food we had was delicious, we ate at the buffet for lunch as well as the jerk chicken on the beach & then we dined off site once, did the buffet once for dinner & ate at the Italian Restaurant & the Steak House. Both were very good the lobster at the Steak House was awesome. The service in all the restaurants was absolutely fabulous as well as the front desk & maid service. We would definitely return to this exact location & felt it was well worth the money. We attended a wedding at Sandals nearby & thought the RIU was a much prettier resort & had much more room to spread out. We also enjoyed all of the activities on the beach as well as watching all of the people.

Great beach and good foodPosted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: beach, rooms, food, good vibe
Cons: Nightly entertainment, add more top shelf alcohol
Location: Bars, sunset criuses
If you are looking for a relatively quiet all inclusive with a great tranquil beach and good food, this is your choice. Located on Bloody Bay just north of Negril's 7 mile beach, the Riu Palace has a great beach where the water is flat enough to water ski and the sand is just great. Food is rather good compared to many other all inclusives (skip the Japanese though). Pool is below average but with such a great beach and laid back vibe you won't miss the mega pool experience you get elsewhere. We recommend an ocena front junior suite, request 2nd or 3rd floor to avoid direct line of site into your room. Plan to spend most of your time at the resort, not much to do except a few popular bars, namely Margaritaville and RIck's Cafe. Nighltly entertainment at the Riu is predictably hockey, Do not rent a car, was a waste and the roads are terrible. For a really fun afternoon of drinking and meeting new friends, pile into the One Love Bus Bar Crawl which stops at most Negril hotels and drives a crowd of roughly 30 "new friends" to 5-6 no-name bars. Buy your own drinks and tip the driver well at the end.

This was my 4th stay at this resort. It has one of the best beaches in the world. Things are very organized and the staff are very friendly and hard working.

Great for children or people who can't swim!Posted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: The hotel was great. Liked most was the surprise birthday cake we received in our room after dinner. That was very thoughtful.
Cons: The air conditioning is a bit weak for North American standards. Even at 18C it was still very hot and humid for us.
Location: It is a great location for a beach vacation. Nothing major nearby.
Just got back from one of the nicest beaches I've been to. The water is crystal clear, warm, shallow & has beautiful white sand. It is smooth - no rocks. It is also very shallow and stays that way about 100 feet from shore, perfect for young children or people who can't swim. A little bit of snorkeling - saw small schools of fish, starfish and a ray. Not a lot,you had to really look because there isn't any coral. Walked around the bay and this is nicest stretch of beach in this area compared to other hotels. There is no shortage of lounge chairs and lots of sun. Most amount of sun is early morning until noon. After noon, the sun becomes less intense and it gets cloudy. So best time to be at the beach is morning. The food wasn't bad, there was lobster, fresh shrimp, lots of exotic tropical fruit and great steak. Coconut cart came around every other day where they chopped a fresh coconut just for you to drink out of the big green shell. The restaurants are not bad either, a bit of variety from the buffet. Only thing is you have to get up a tiny bit early before 8am to wait in line to get what you want for a spot 2 days out. Taxi cost from hotel isn't bad when compared to other taxi services, but extremely expensive overall. For 5 adults it cost 50US for a 15 min return trip to a little tourist mall/trap called Times Square. Cons: Lots of mosquitoes, 2 double beds pushed together as king - slides apart, weak A/C

Outstanding food is the best partPosted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: The food. Delicate, light, lots of variety, including local dishes. Desserts - a 10!
Cons: Service in the rooms. Provide earplugs for blocking sound from noisy neighbors!!
The food was the highlight of our stay here - really outstanding. Unfortunately the walls of the rooms are paper thin, so we didn't sleep well. The quiet Bloody Bay was often more windy than the seven mile beach area, which meant we couldn't take the kayaks out. One day we had to use hand towels after our shower since our towels had been removed, and the refrigerator wasn't attended to. But these are all first world problems, right - Negril is still our favorite place to hang out and swim, and we love the Jamaican people and the laissez-faire vibe. Next time we'll stay on the seven mile beach at a more rustic place; our expectations will be lower ;)
