Highlight of our 3 weeks in JAMPosted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, best pool during our trip, nice gardens with resident birds (and cats.... loved it), snorkelling right from the premises.
Cons: The thing we liked least - the road with speeding drivers separating the garden properties from the cliff side - not much the hotel can do about that
Location: Negril west end (miles away from the beach mayhem) is perfect for more relaxed holidays, snorkelling, no hustlers or vendors. Go to the reef!
The hotel is right on the cliffs in Negril, but we chose a room with a garden view across the road. For one, because that gave us pool access at all (sneaky) hours, and also was away from the bar (which had music - either live or canned). It's a very relaxed place, with very friendly and helpful staff. Swimming was good (apart from one choppy day, but I doubt I can blame the hotel for strong on-shore winds!), and snorkelling on the calm days was brilliant. I brought my own, but liked the fact that they had snorkelling gear and all sorts of swim toys available. The caves on site were fun to explore, both from land and sea.

Xtabi stayPosted Jul 27, 2013
Pros: Location on the cliffs
Cons: Rooms need some work...along with the rest of the facilitiies. Grounds, bar and restaurant are nice, but service is a bit slow.
Location: Need transport to move about Negril. Taxi's are easy to come by.
Nice location on the cliffs in Negril. Small but a great place to chill out. Enjoyed the sound of the waves hitting the cliffs and swimming in the warm water. Good food and cold beer. Rooms need some tender love and care as do the other facilities. Negril has really slowed down over the years and the off season is real slow and a great time to go if your looking for some nice down time. Lots of places to pick and prices are pretty good this time of year.

Xtabi the place to be!Posted Jul 23, 2013
Cons: The lounge chairs could be more comfortable or have cushions on them and that is it
Location: Great location on cliffs to walk and explore other hotel/ restaurant views going in either direction
Excellent room comfortable quiet safe delicious food and fun bar area wonderful cliffs caves and swimming area all staff very friendly helpful . Prices are very reasonable for both food and room. My room was on garden side with no air and I still was cool at night with fan . Love the outdoor shower in room. I have been going there for years. Give it a try

A must-go-back, get to know the staffPosted May 26, 2013
Pros: The whole crew
A very nice place to stay. Great location on the cliff, excellent food quality. But the main asset of this hotel is most definitely the staff. All guys and girls are great folks, very helpful, pleasant, friendly and very professional. Dwight, Omar, Georges, and all the others just make you wanna go back and stay in touch. A couple more ashtrays would be great anyway ;)

About what you would expect for the pricePosted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Great and unique location!
Cons: Some staff were unfriendly.
The location is great, the cliffs are great, the restaurant is mediocre (but convenient) and for the most part the staff is friendly/helpful. The room was basic (no AC, no TV, no refrigerator) and the bed also wasn't very comfortable (I'm 30 and my lower back was killing me each morning), but I did know most of that from the Expedia room description and it wasn't enough to make me check out and move. Overall we had a great time! With new beds and a couple replacement front office workers, this place would be perfect! Tip: Reserve a refrigerator in advance. They can rent them if they have them in stock, and the grocery store is only a few miles away. Use the route taxis for $100J/per person each way if you want to get to downtown/bank/grocery.

great for snorkling, and a tranquil get awayPosted Dec 27, 2012
Pros: the cave
Location: clif side get away
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Cant beat the price, lots of hot water :) and the caves were great. resteraunt is also good, but kinda pricey. Not suitable for non swimmers who want to go into water. there is no beach, water is awesome, dont leave your snorkle

Friendly staff, beautiful views.Posted Dec 10, 2012
Pros: The view, the snorkeling and the people.
Cons: Proximity to attractions
We highly enjoyed out stay at Xtabi. The staff was very friendly, the facilities are nice, and the scenery is fantastic. The only downsides I can think of is that the hotel itself is a little far from anything. You'll need to take a cab basically anywhere, which adds a little cost to the trip. As well, the rooms are a bit dated. Those who are looking for a beautiful 5-star room will be disappointed, but we found them clean and functional, and enjoyed staying in more typical Jamaican architecture. We spend 2 days in a standard room with A/C (19), and upgraded to a cottage for the second 2 days. We'd highly recommend the cottage. You lose the option for A/C, but the outdoor shower is really cool, and the view is incredible.

Good spot for cave explorers.Posted Dec 4, 2012
Cons: unfriendly desk staff
Location: On West End Rd, easy access from town center and on a rocky swimming spot which could be fun, if water's accessible.
Check in staff couldn't have been less friendly. Check out was different and much better, but it takes so little to make guests who've traveled some distance feel like the trip was worth it. The room was nothing special - smallish, cement walls throughout, view of garden path. The caves were great. I wish the sea had been calmer so we could swim out of the caves, but not possible with the waves crashing and the ladders taken up the first day so no swimming at all - that was a major bummer as I had only one day and two nights there. Breakfast and lunch were good, restaurant staff friendly, parking security very helpful and fun to chat with. Such a lovely setting but probably paying the upgrade and staying in a seaside or cliffside or seaview room would've been the way to go and not the Superior Standard room with A/C and TV - who needs em!
