"Beautiful room in part of larger home with view."
We stayed two nights here. The room is full of character. There are views over the town but the general feeling is of being in a quiet secluded suburban area. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The veranda and gardens are beautiful. The only caution is the steep path down to the parking area. Otherwise unreservedly recommended.

What a fantastic place to say! Very close (just a short walk) to the main shopping street of Nelson, on a quiet road near the Cathedral. A beautifully done-up 1920's villa, with original Rimu floors and art work and books everywhere, making it feel like a very personal place to stay.
The owners are lovely, friendly and welcoming, and the breakfasts are absolutely amazing.
Lots of nice little touches, such as different colourful drinking glasses each day, tea and coffee supplies with biscuits and chocolates in your room, and hand-made quilts on the beds.
Highly recommended - we'll definitely be back.

We had a great 2 nights at the Cathedral Inn. The location is superb, just behind the cathedral and only a few minutes walk to cafes, restaurants, shopping etc. Room was immaculate and very comfortable. Hosts Sally and Neville were very helpful and gave us lots of tips about what to see and where to eat. The Thai restaurant they recommended was very good. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices for the cooked breakfast.
The Suter Gallery is nearby as are many galleries and craft shops. There is a lovely park nearby from where you can walk to the Centre of NZ - quite a climb but worth the view.
Can highly recommend the Cathedral Inn.

Our stay at Collingwood Manor was lovely. The owners went out of their way to attend to our needs. We were very impressed that they provided us with a lovely breakfast, despite our very early 5am departure! We were made to feel very welcome in this beautiful old building.

My husband and I took a break over Easter and unfortunately I only booked the one night in Nelson. What we saw we loved but left ourselves time poor to really enjoy the wonderful Nelson area. Robyn and Kees were great hosts and we both enjoyed our all too brief time at Ambleside immensely. Next time we would choose to base ourselves at Ambleside for at least a week to give us time to explore the surrounding area extensively. Robyn on hearing about our itinerary quickly gave us a run down on the not to be missed activities and locations along our route which we are very glad we followed. We arrived back in Australia feeling very rested and relaxed but with a more realistic idea of what to plan for our next trip to the South Island as I am sure we will be visiting again.
