This is not a conventional hotel experience. Trieste is not a hotel with a lobby, concierge, gym and swimming pool and other fancy hotel accouterments. At the same time, it's certainly not 'down-market'. The suites associated with the Trieste name are really comfortable and well-appointed with some fancy touches (e.g. jacuzzi, terrace, tasteful furniture). The place comes with daily cleaning service, of course. When you book with Trieste you are reserving one of several choice properties owned by the friendly and helpful Odelia, a Tel Aviv resident who lives not far away. She'll come and meet you at an appointed time, let you in and give you the pass code for entry into the Suite. If you need anything during your stay you can ring her on her mobile and she'll take care of the situation. Odelia also sometimes takes guests on walking tours of the city, into fascinating areas not covered by standard tours.

This is a boutique hotel consisting of five rooms. We stayed in room 4 (a simple double) for a total of three nights.
Some great plusses. The room was fantastic - with all amenities, original design, great bathroom and immaculately clean. The location is excellent - quiet cosy historical area with nearby cafes, and a 15-minute beach stroll to the more happening parts of Jaffo old town. An absolutely superb package for this price class. There's on-street parking too, though it's fairly limited.
A couple of minuses for this particular room. The view from the window will be directly into a wall once the neighbouring construction is complete. The windows cannot be opened, and so the only air-flow is the re-circulated air from the AC.
A couple of other niggles. The hotel appears to be operating on an 'serviced apartment' model - there are no staff on-site. The check-in process is not well thought out: you are emailed the door code on the day of arrival - but there is no advance warning of this in the booking process, leaving you stranded at the front door trying to ring the owner's cellphone. Also, the WiFi does not work. We had emailed the owner about this twice (from a cafe), and phoned once. He claimed that he had checked, and the WiFi worked in all rooms. The couple staying downstairs had the same complaint.

Our photographer recommended this hotel for pre-wedding photos. Hotel was excellent for that and for getting ready for the wedding.
I do NOT recommend it as a place to get a good nights sleep. My bedroom window was on a street, and we had a truck come in the middle of the night, people walking by late and it sounded like we were sleeping on the street. So bring ear plugs, or dont sleep there..just take pictures. Also, there was a nearby rooster that started making lots of noise early in the morning.
As for cleanliness - most was clean, except the sofa had several stains on it.
No bathtub on our villa, just a shower.
