River view is great, but,,,,Posted Oct 14, 2014
Rooms right above the outside bar hear a bassline thump, thump, thump from the live bands well into the early morning hours. Cleaning service not consistent from day to day - weekend cleaning was superior; Sunday's service was poor so I didn't leave a tip. The door stuck quite frequently so that I had to throw a shoulder at it to get it open. Shuttle driver was very personable.

The hotel and the staff were great. It was very nice and relaxing to sit out on the deck and watch the boats.

Gorgeous view from Riverside Rooms --Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: View & convenience to downtown.
Cons: Very small bathroom --
Location: Great location -- easy walk to all the shops & restaurants in downtown New Bern.
Very comfortable, clean hotel. At times, parking was a bit scarce, but overall, the stay was very pleasant.

Motorcycle ride to New BernPosted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Location, room, Staff, food, level of comfort
Location: You acn walk along the river, Tryon palace is just a few blocks away
after check in we dropped our stuff in our room and went to the patio overlooking the river marina. it was warm, quiet, and relaxing. After a while, we walked to the hotel bar and ate a light meal with a few drinks. The room was modern, and very comfortable, AND very CLEAN!!! Breakfast was in the main dinning room, and was a buffet that was reasonable and excelent.

Hotel was dissapointingPosted Aug 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Had issues at check in and got locked out of the room twice. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke....beware. We had a non smoking room that you could tell was at one time a smoking room. Staff did try to help by giving us free breakfast and drink tickets. We have stayed at Double Trees before and have had great experiences. We were very disappointed with this one.

Room was disappointingPosted Aug 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
The venue was well managed but I booked a room outside of the block set aside for conference attendees with a balcony. I didn't get anything different and no balcony and paid more to boot

Noisy roomPosted Aug 11, 2014
The hotel is well situated on a scenic river with marina, but our fifth floor room was noisy. Both the air-conditioning unit and the refrigerator rumbled and rattled every time they cycled on.

Don't let location and brand name fool you.Posted Aug 8, 2014
Cons: Clean the common area. Show more concern or urgency at report of a very dirty hotel
Location: New Bern is a nice small town
I have stayed at several hotels outside of downtown New Bern and had good experiences -- Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn. This time, I thought I would stay downtown on the water, and thought the Doubletree brand would be a step up from the other places I had stayed. I checked in and was informed I would be staying in the "Inn" which is a separate buildng that looks older. My room was on the third floor. The elevator was filthy, as was the carpet in the hall. The elevator had what looked like potting soil spilled on the floor, and appeared to have something smeared on the door and walls. The hall carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed in weeks. Someone even left the bucket off of one of those things with a handle that you sweep things into just sitting in the hall. The room was ok -- appeared clean (though I discovered a long hair -- not mine -- on the side of the shower the next morning), but was very worn. I stopped by the desk after check in to advise about the dirty elevator and hall, and the person at the front desk wrote my comment down on what appeared to be a form with about 10 other entries. She thanked me, but didn't appear particularly concerned or eager to fix. The next morning, the condition was exactly as it had been the day before.

Service is amazing, room less soPosted Aug 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
I want to start by saying the service from the front desk, shuttle driver and waitstaff was perfect. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. My first room was pretty bad: no fridge in the space where one should be (the microwave was present), old bathroom fixtures that didn't work quite right, and AC that was malfunctioning. By 1 am I could no longer take the humidity in the room and called the front desk. They kindly moved me to a new room with working AC (it had a fridge too!). Just be a little careful as some of the rooms have not been completely renovated.
