“Loved it!”

My sister and I recently spent 3 days of our vacation here. The staff were friendly and helpful; we were treated like family for our stay. Such a beautiful and relaxing location. We ate there every night; the food was to die for!!!! We enjoyed sitting out on the deck at sunset. Staying in the round room was a unique experience. We would definitely go back!

“Pleasantly Surprised”

From the moment my husband and I arrived we were treated like royalty. Jan showed us to our room and we could not believe how beautiful it was. We have never stayed in such a large room and it also had a balcony facing the Marina. It was absolutely gorgeous. We settled in and had dinner at the restaurant which is on the premises. The service was great and the food was even better. Chef Bruce came out personally to make sure everything was okay. On the way back from Florida we stayed two more nights. This time it was the weekend and not only did we enjoy eating at the Hurricane but had fun dancing on the deck. Who knew, they even had entertainment! We really can't wait to get back

“The Hurricane Resort-Restaurant.”

It's under new owner and he is updating the rooms (in the area of maintenance). But the staff and him both are Very Very Nice. And I am sure that for this area I could not have stayed anywhere nicer for a small hotel. The price I paid for the room was much better than a higher priced motel for the New Bern area.

“Less of a hotel more a guest house”

The rooms were very comfortable and the restaurant which was part of it was great We ate there every night. Not gourmet but well cooked and imaginative menu. The owners were sometimes rushing around and gave the impression that things were too much for them but overall the experience was a pleasant one. Don't expect 5* quality but the location on the marina and access to the surrounding area, coupled with good food an a comfortable room was more than adequate for our weekend. Staff were exremely friendly and we struck up a good rapport with them.

“Needs Updating”

The hotel is old and needs significant updating and repairs. We had to change rooms because the first room wasn't as clean as it should have been and the manager couldn't find the room key. In the 2nd room, we had to request someone come and clean the balcony furniture, there were problems with the door lock, and the refridgerator hadn't been cleaned out from the previous guests. The gentleman who came to fix the lock had been drinking heavily. The other staff members were very friendly and attentive

“A Hotel...Really?”

There is no front desk. You "check in" at a bar. She had our name scribbled on a pad. We quickly noticed the lack of a television and a dresser. We immediately informed the woman at the bar and she said it would be taken care of - we were there for three days - never taken care of...There is no housekeeping staff. We received two towels and one packet of coffee...for three days. There was a dresser (probably ours?) in the hallway, so I supplied my own room. Since we were there visiting family and had a lot of traveling to do during our stay we never had the opportunity to see anyone working at our "hotel". Since the bar is closed in the morning and by 8pm they were also closed. I have no idea what anyone would do if they came to check in during the off hours of the bar. On check out we left our key in the room. This entire stay was rather surreal. If we had booked this location to relax at a Resort type hotel - we would have "checked" right out.

“.”

No staff available after hours of the bar/restaurant. Wifi not available in our room and it was a must for this stay.

“not prepared for guests”

It appears that few guests stay at this hotel as the room was not really ready for us. We had to request a replacement lamp, a light bulb for the room and for the dark stairway to the parking lot. There were no sheets for the sofabed we had requested ahead of time. The coffeepot was dirty and there was no coffee for it. The room is over a restaurant by the same name. Nice view of boats at the dock almost within reach. The management of these "guest rooms"' needs to get their act together before advertising this place.
