“DO NOT go during wedding season, Nov-Jan!”
I wouldn't stay here during wedding season, Nov-Jan. You will be kept awake all night. They have 3 weddings a night. My room was nice & had a balcony & very nice shower. The 1 restaurant has exceptional food. We ate there for breakfast & dinner for 3 days & were please with ALL the food. I recommend the chicken kabobs. Breakfast is limited but they do make you an omelette, if someone is actually at the station. Service is very slow & a little forgetful. Management could do better. Maybe they were tired of all the complaining regarding wedding noise & all the children running up & down the hall ringing doorbells. Spa under renovations. STILL? Used hotel car service & thought it was reasonable for the distance you have to go to get anywhere. Malik was our driver & he was awesome!!! Ask for him. The pool is huge but there was not any staff to order drinks or food so you have to walk up the hill, go in the front doors of hotel to the restaurant to order something. Gardens are beautiful. The "business center" is a complete joke. The internet is slow, when it's working. The computers are ancient & it took 30 min. to print a boarding pass. There is no lounge when you have a long wait between check-out & flight (7 hours for us). We were lounging in business center, upstairs & out of view & were told we can't lie on the couches, we have to sit up. No one was there! I stayed here for proximity to airport & would again but not Nov-Jan. Wait at airport, not hotel!
“Great Hotel, but not the best location”
The hotel is really fantastic, but if you do not have your own car it is not the best location to find any form of public transporation. Unfortunatley the hotel car service is very overpriced and at times you have no option but to take it because you cannot find a taxi outside of the hotel. Then when coming back it is hard to explain the location to public transportation. I ended up calling the hotel each time so they could explain the directions to the taxi driver. Otherwise the hotel is great.
“Was good, but now half closed down due to problems with regulation”
This was a great hotel some years ago, but apparently due to non-compliance with some govt regulations (a typical problem in Delhi), half the hotel, including restaurants, bar, fitness area, etc has been closed down, probably by govt fiat. It is very difficult for the rest to remain a top hotel
“Not impressed”
Management is very poor.Breakfast menu was same for all days during my stay.IT guys have very poor knowledge of the system.Computers and printers are not inter connected. No UPS standby for power shut down.
“Royal Treatment”
The Hotel staff were all friendly and welcomed you when you arrived. A refreshment was offered at checkin which was nice after 23 hours in travel. Very impressive and would stay there again.
“Orchid = Expensive Mistake”
Warning: very poor management at this hotel, limited facilities and dodgy plumbing. Definitely not a 5-star! Not as advertised: I chose the Orchid because the hotel description said it included a spa, health centre, and multiple restaurants (as is pretty standard for a 5-star hotel), plus nice gardens. A bit out of the way of the Delhi city centre, but that is ok. When I got to the hotel, having reserved 4 nights, I found that it was undergoing renovation, so the health centre and spa were closed, and there was only one restaurant, which was ok, but had a pretty limited menu. Immediately, I decided to cancel 2 nights and shift to another hotel, as those facilities were the main reason I booked. They told me although they recognized their concerns, they "could not" refund any portion of my reservation, although they added that other people had been in the same position. No hot water: The 2 days and 3 nights that I was there, every time I tried to take a shower, the hot water either was off, or came out in a lukewarm yellow dribble. Wasted time and money: Management gave me a very hard time, I spent hours trying to work through the management system to get someone I could reason with: no success, they were all like robots. I gave up, left, and they kept my money! Since this has happened to numerous people, be warned! Overpriced and unprofessional.
“Clean rooms, but no restaurant”
Hotel room is clean and comfortable, but there is no restaurant; only a coffee shop. Good for transiting stays, but not particularly suited for business trips.
