Downtown New Haven, but not recommendedPosted Jul 7, 2014
Disappointing. Most staff seem uninterested in providing service, several things didn't work.

Old and tiredPosted Jun 19, 2014
This hotel is showing its age. The windows were so fogged up that you could hardly see out. No view anyway. The bed was sagging so bad that my wife, who can sleep anywhere, could not sleep. Very tired and in much need of an upgrade. The breakfast just ok

Staff are great--facilities need a major upgrade.Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: The facilities.
The staff could not have been nicer, but the beds were very uncomfortable, the sofa bed was stained and various items were held together with chaulk. The hotel needs a significant overhaul.

Decent for the price and length of stay.Posted May 18, 2014
Cons: Cleanliness and temperature of common areas.
Location: Easy off the highway.
We stayed one night for an out of town wedding. The room was fine and clean, however the hallways seemed to have missed being cleaned. The temperature of the hallway was also too warm.

What's that smell?Posted Apr 29, 2014
I anticipated a low frills experience at the La Quinta but was especially disappointed with my recent experience. First, I had to shout for a while to get assistance at the desk as the clerk was absorbed in some entertainment in the back room. Once I got into the room, it appeared that the room was tidy with clean sheets and the usual minimal toiletries (towel and soap, period). However, once settled in the room, I couldn't get over the slight but sharp sweet yet putrid smell that appeared to come from somewhere near the bed. It was just faint enough that I would only pick it up just as I would forget about it. I could not find a culprit in the room and became suspicious of one of the pillows but, given the overall poor looking condition of the hotel as I walked in, I was certain that my next room would not fare much better. Breakfast was okay with a bagel and muffin, but the coffee is served in tiny 4 oz cups and the juice machine dispenses 90% water and 10% orange juice. To top it off I found I was double billed for the room by the front desk even though I prepaid through Expedia. I did better than my friend's last experience with La Quinta, however. She flew into her city late and at 2 AM was given the keys to a room that had not been cleaned at all -- not what you want to deal with after a late flight.

Not a good area of New HavenPosted Apr 26, 2014
The police had to escort a lady into the inn. Sketchy people came in at night. Kind of scary. Room was dirty.

Clumps of hair in the bathrooms!Posted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: The staff
Cons: Cleaning and renovation of rooms.
Location: Ikea next door
Not usually very critical but expected a little more out of the LaQuinta in New Haven. The hotel shows signs of wear and tear and attention to the cleanliness of the bathrooms especially was lacking as a clump of hair was left behind. The staff was great however. Very friendly.
