“December in New Orleans”
Only probelm wsa they turned off the water form 9 a.m. for 7 hours one day to perform maintenance. The hotel is being renovated currently.
“renovation”
This hotel is under renovation. expedia failed to mention that. Also bathroom drain was slow to drain while showering and backed up.
“Wait till Reno is Done”
Hotel is under construction, so construction noise was loud, gift shop was never open, Tempo Restaurant was rarely ever open. Hotel bar closed very early. we didnt have a Do Not Disturb sign, so we were constantly bothered by housekeeping. I would go back because of the great price and location, after the reno is done (but probably wont be as cheap).
“Very positive experience”
I try to stay away from conference hotels when I attend conferences and sometimes I win and sometimes lose. This was a very pleasant surprise. Beautiful room, in the heart of everything and still a very safe location. Very close to the large hotels. I'd go back anytime.
“Good stay”
I recently spent three nights at this hotel. The lobby is amazing. The rooms have beautiful high ceilings. Bed was great. Carpet needs replacing and room is sparsely furnished. My room overlooked Canal Street and was quite noisy well beyond 1 AM. Staff was courteous and helpful. Great online deal made the room reasonably priced--especially compared to alternatives in the area. AT&T wireless in the room was exceedingly slow. I would stay here again.
“HUGE room”
This hotel is in the perfect location: one block from Bourbon street, with entrances to both Iberville and Canal streets, but still away from the hustle and bustle. It's a quiet haven just steps away from where the party is at. Sure, the hotel lobby are hallways are awkwardly and sparsely decorated (but they were renovating when I stayed there, so that could be the reason), but the room itself is just so freakin' humongous, clean, with a nice, big, comfortable bed, high ceilings and huge windows to go with them. My only complaint (but unfortunately that is the case with all the hotels in the French Quarter) is that the windows are all sealed shut! Whether it's to prevent the humid air from coming in or to discourage people from trying to smoke in the rooms, the result is stuffiness. I personally hate having the AC on at all times, but because this room large enough to fit about 20 people in it and still have some wiggle room, I was able to just turn it off and still be comfortable. Hotel service, however, could be better. I had problems with the internet, with crapped out for the entire time I was there, and I just couldn't reach anybody anywhere for the life of me after 11 pm. I just had to give up and forget about using the computer. There are other hotels in the French Quarter with a lot more character than this one, but it was functional, clean, conveniently located, and I would return.
“newbie in nola”
the location could not be better. half a block from bourbon st and a block off canal street. so everything right to hand , but without the craziness. the biggest non suite bedroom i have seen, and with a huge comfortable bed, great workdesk and chair, plus a sofa and sitting area. outlook to quiet courtyard as requested. decent free wifi, acces to pool and gym facility in house. very pleasant bar with good staff. did not use the hotel restaurant, but it looked good too. the style was a little dated, with old fashioned furniture and dark colours, but i would certainly recommend for fellow first-timers, and would go back again anytime. for the price paid in central nola, it would be hard to beat.
“Great Hotel”
The hotel room was great. 20'+ ceilings, 2 tvs with internet access, large seperate seating area, and a very comfortable bed. The room was clean and quiet, especially for a French Quarter hotel. The only minor issues was the armoir holding one of the tvs needed to be leveled (a door wouldn't stay open), and one of the lights in the bathroom made a steady noise. Since we spent most of the time outside the room anyway I didn't worry about it. Great location...1/2 a block from Bourbon Street!
“Very Good Hotel”
Great location in the French Quarter, some renovations going on during our stay in Nov. of 2011. Older hotel, great staff, 10 minute walk to the convention center, casino, waterwalk.
“Impressive”
After reading mixed reviews of the Chateau, my expectations were a little low. Fortunately, they were met or exceeded in most respects during our stay. Yes, the hotel is going through some remodeling (Wyndham bought the property a few years ago and is renovating). Yes, Bourbon is right outside. Yes, it gets noisy in the French Quarter. This isn't suburban Missouri, sorry folks. You're going to have some noise. Also, this is New Orleans. The city was built below sea level. It's not a sterilized strip like they have in Nevada. Perhaps we just got lucky, but the room was spacious and tidy. Our bed, the single biggest requirement of a romantic stay, was fantastic and comfy. The bathroom was perfectly clean, so again, maybe we ended up in a recently updated room. Hell, even the construction that was going on was rather quiet. Bottom line: one can stumble home from anywhere in the Quarter, the service was top-notch, and the hotel itself will only get better as Wyndham finishes remodeling. Not having a trash can in the room was a little odd, though...
