Halloween weekend

Posted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Peace and quiet.
Cons: Breakfast portions were on the light side.
Location: Plenty of bars and restaurants right behind the Inn with a variety that only can be found in New Orleans.
I visit New Orleans at least twice a year and normally stay near the French quarter in a hotels and which gives me immediate access to Bourban street and the quarter. Well, I did not like the parking, because it can be expensive and not always convenient. I really wanted to blend in with the locals and not feel like a tourist this time. Staying at the Creole Gardens allowed me achieve that this this time. The Inn is located in a comfortable area so I just parked my car at the Inn's parking lot I was able to jump on the trolly ond block away. The old brothel style rooms and suites gave me the type of privacy I enjoy at home, so I recommend Creole Gardens Guesthouse and Inn.

Pros: See above
Cons: Keep it just the way it is.
Location: See above - 1 block from St. Charles - We went to Magazine and 8 and ate and looked at shops in the Gallery District - best gumbo ever at Gotts Gourme
Darling Historic Bed and Breakfast with friendly helpful staff who changed our room to accommodate special needs. Even the cook made us an early breakfast before our flight! Despite the humidity, the 2nd Story room was very comfortable - not lavish but fun in the "Bordello" Section where couples used to sneak away. The paint is worn in exterior - like everywhere - but somehow it looks appropriate in this setting and is both quaint and charming! There is a large old enclosed courtyard with benches and mature banana trees - used for banana pancakes - Breakfast is served in a large parlor with a grand piano and newspapers on top! 1 block from St. Charles Streetcar so we could travel to Tulane or the Marketplace.

Kein Fahrstuhl, aber Zentrumsnah

Posted May 1, 2013

Our stay was okay. It was a very simple room, but could have used a few more surfaces to put things on. The host and hostess that managed the hotel were very nice, friendly and helpful.

The hotel is neglected, the atmosphere is unique

Posted Apr 13, 2013
Pros: breakfast
Cons: cleanliness
Location: nice and close to trolley
Despite the very friendly staff, we can't recommend this hotel. For $170/night, there is no reliable internet in the rooms only in the dining room. The rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis. There is no remote control for the TV, despite repeated requests, even though promised to get one. The hotel is neglected, the atmosphere is unique. Breakfast is delightful.

Location: location was perfect just a block from the trolley in right near the garden distric
staff was very nice and helpful. they gave us tips on the real New Orleans, where to go where to eat.i would go back again . it was 1 block from the trolley and far enough away from the french quarter to to have some peace and quiet at night.

OK for the money

Posted Mar 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The building was in serious need of repainting on the outside. The doors are old wood doors that don't always close right. The free breakfasts are nice. Rooms are not cleaned daily. You keep the same sheets and blankets all week. Location is good. It was fine for me, glad i didn't bring my wife. it would not have met her standards. Overall, decent, but nothing great.

Quirky B & B, great location, best breakfast.

Posted Feb 12, 2013
Its a quirky little B & B hotel where the friendliness and service from all the staff sets the tone from the moment you enter. The place is formed from some old Victorian era homes so its a 'character' place, not a cookie cutter motel chain. That gives it its vibe, but also means its a little rough around the edges. It suited us fine and we enjoyed our 2 night stay. Its just 1 block off St Charles Ave so it was just so convenient to catch the Mardi Gras parades. Plenty of eating and drinking establishments nearby also. Its about a mile and a half to the middle of the French Quarter. We walked it each day, but the Tramcar runs down St Charles if you need it. Breakfast deserves a mention. Annie the cook makes a different hot dish each morning and you can taste the love she puts into her cooking. Great to get such food after the mass produced packet food dished up in most motels today! I'd highly recommend Creole Gardens to anyone who likes this style of accomodation.

Creole Gardens Guesthouse and Inn

Funky and fun; great experience with the proprietors; a delicious breakfast made to order; excellent advice about places to go and thinks to see within walking distance and easy to reach by public transportation. I stayed there two nights on the way to my final destination and one night on my way back. I will stay there again.

Cute and comfortable

Posted Nov 14, 2012
Staff was true to word of "southern hospitality". Very helpful and honest. As alone female traveller, security is always a question. They were honest about area (don't walk alone at night). But security is very good and your not afraid to actually sleep in the room. The room was comfortable and very cute, best words....Shabby Chic. Not the Ritz, but very comfortable and clean!
