Way too expensive for an hotel far from the center

We went for the first time to New Orleans on the 4th July weekend. Many hotels were fully booked already, the only affordable one was the Days Hotel (Days Inn), about five time more expensive during these days than a standard Days Inn. Cold welcome, every information had to be extracted from the woman at the reception. Breakfast was included but included eggs, waffles and coffee, with no other choice. The wifi was not working in the room, the TV had 3 functional channels instead of the about 50 promised. Positive were the relatively quiet night despite the highway very close, and the smile of the waiter at breakfast.

The hotel room was amazing. One night the room was bigger than the other. It was a smoking room and you could not smell any type of smoke when entering the room.

A/C wasn't working well the first night. Requested another room the second day and was allowed to change rooms after an exasperated look from the lady at the desk. Slept much better with AC the second night. Kind of an older hotel but felt safe in the area.

Horrible Customer Service

Location: Horrible cab service, nothing near by without vehicle
The front desk clerks Karita/Tate lacked customer service and patronized several of the paying customers. Not to mention, pornography was uploaded on the computer in the business center while I had my three children with me. After notifying the night clerk, Mr. Tate he went in the business center and came out laughing which seemed extremely inappropriate considering the ages of my children:10, 7, and 8. Also, my incidental fee has not been reimbursed to my account, and I have checked out of the hotel 4 days ago. I would also like to mention that the hotel maintanence was caught creepily watching my 12yr old.

Pros: easy acess to the interstate which was good.
Cons: the elevator, the bathrooms, t.v, and the mattresses.
Location: location was good shopping mall close by eateries close by.
the hotel was fine for a short term stay, bathroom need to be up dated, tv.need to be upgraded . overall the hotel need to be up graded it is a old hotel. rooms was clean.

Pros: Not much.
Cons: Everything in my "Experience" comments.
Location: It was right off I10, that was good. Was not looking for something to do so was not paying attention to that.
Small bathroom, Key card did not work in all doors. Drain in bathroom kept backing up. No bath towels in bath room. We will not be returning to that hotel.

Pros: location
Cons: better preventative maintenence
Location: new orleans
$50 per night safety deposit so in case we "ramsack" the place. no receipt "ask expedia" I've stayed here many time over 10 years. Every year a little more worn. Broken clothes rack, broken toilet, torn lamp shade. Quick responsive maintenance staff.

Adequate place to stay

This is an adequate place to stay about half way btwn the airport and the downtown area. Also relatively convenient to the NO Museum of Art which was important to us. The hotel, or really more of a motel, was adequate. The room relatively large. The breakfast is a voucher for a rather meager choice at the IHOP next door. But OK.

I would never want to get anyone in trouble... The staff was very friendly, housekeeping did their job and when the air broke, maintenance was quick to repair. The problem is the facility itself. It is in horrible condition. The entire hotel smells of mildew. Our room had mildew all over the ceiling and cracked places where it looked it could give way at any minute. The furniture was old and tattered and the whole place was dark, dingy and uncomfortable. However the staff was excellent. Someone peed in the elevator and it was cleaned immediately. I feel bad for the workers, but they did the best they could with the facility they have. The owner needs to renovate or shut down very soon.
