Best Value for Visiting the Crescent CityPosted Nov 11, 2013
Pros: Location, amenities, ease of accessing the French Quarter, price
Cons: I am so pleased with my stay that I can't think of any improvements.
The hotel itself is clean, very quiet (I couldn't hear any of my neighbors ever), and full of amenities such as a complete kitchenette and Wi-Fi. Pets are an additional fee, but the lowest I've ever come across so my Yellow Lab got to visit the Big Easy this time. As an aside, New Orleans is very tolerant of dogs, and there is a good dog park around the 1200 block of Dauphine with street parking. The hotel grounds are a re-purposed naval base, which is great for exercise walking. A short drive away are a number of shopping centers, including a grocery store (Rousse?) that has an amazing selection of just about everything. If you like to cook in your room, you can prepare a full Cajun spread. The hotel is convenient to the Algiers Point ferry (a 1.65 mile walkable distance), a free pedestrian boat that connects the Point and the base of Canal Street every 15 minutes. All day parking at the ferry is extremely low compared with city fees. Excellent location for visiting the French Quarter, but without expensive parking and the hassle of driving in a crowded environment. All in all, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting New Orleans.

Nice hotel. $20 to convention centerPosted Nov 10, 2013
For the price it was great. Both rooms had microwave/stove/tv. No smells. Nicely cleaned. $20 to convention center/french quarter, $40 for four from the airport via taxi. Was a good deal for us! Some taxis can't find this on their GPS but if you have a map/tell them federal city they can find it.

Cons: The rooms were a little musty but not bad. The two flight of steps were tough on the old folks, but we managed!
This was a great little hotel for the price. I was a little concerned as we drove up, as it is an "abandoned" military base, but the houses around are very nice and look as if a lot of care has been put into them. The restaurant recommended at the ferry was excellent, in fact we ate dinner there both nights! The cost was fantastic and the ferry across to New Orleans was a quick 15 minute trip. There was a major accident on Interstate 10 the morning we left and the front desk lady helped greatly with directions for us to go around the accident site.

Excellent for price. Would stay here again. Less than 15 minute drive from French quarter. Quiet, back off the road location. Get your GpS out.

Convenient for my purposePosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Only major complaint was lack of hot water for shower on morning of check out. Had I been staying longer I would have made a complaint to front desk but since I was leaving, there was no need.

What can I say!! I didnt think that the hotel was going to be what it was. But it exceeded my expectations! I loved the service...the rooms where CLEAN and the towels were clean the kitchenette and dishes where clean...it was everything i had hoped for! I will be staying here again. its an old navy base located on the westbank in algiers. Located right off interstate 10...only a few mins away from the french quarter and downtown NEW ORLEANS. A must see.
