Pros: Location. Large Rooms.
Cons: Also, roof top pool is advertised as heated and it was not. I was looking forward to taking a dip, which I was not able to do.
The Hilton Garden Inn was just okay. I will break this up into pros and cons. Pros: Location is excellent. Just a short walk to the French Quarter on a quiet street. Large rooms with amentities such as a Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, and flat screen television. Cons: Thin walls, you can hear your neighbors and you can hear people in the hallway. Had a big problem with housekeeping. They would knock on your door at like 8:30 in the morning, imo, way too early for this kind of a party city. Anyway, one day because I did not want to get up before 9am, I put the "Do Not Disturb" tag on the front of the door. When we left the room at 11:45am (still morning) I found this card shoved under the door stating to call the front desk if we wanted the room cleaned. I removed the Do Not Disturb tag thinking they would just clean the room anyway because it was still early. We get back to the room at 2:30 and room was not cleaned. I called the front desk staff and meanwhile, the card stated the room could be cleaned up until 4:00. Called the front desk who advised the room would be cleaned. We go back out and when we get home from the evening, not only was the room not cleaned but we had no clean towels or toilet paper. I had to call the front desk and they were able to bring towels but it was a hassle. I was really bothered by this. This is New Orleans with 7x24 partying and entertainment, not a place that is screaming early to rise.

Nice hotel in a quieter areaPosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: mostly pleasant staff location- quieter area away from the party
Cons: do not disturb signs or coming by for cleaning after 11 am checkout
Location: self parking close by walking distance to most major roadways and restaurants
We enjoy Hilton Hotels so often stay there. The location was in a good area. The room was clean. The cleaning lady did come by 2 mornings and just completely opened the door which woke us up at 8:30 am- both times. It got us started earlier but we didn't have a 'do not disturb' sign anywhere in our room. The "early bird door opener cleaning lady" was the only complaint I had. We also parked half a block away in the self parking for half the price of the the 'valet only' parking the hotel has and that saved us a lot. The staff had good recommendations for restaurants and tours and areas to avoid. Overall, we will probably stay there again when we go back.

Wish I stayed somewhere else.Posted Nov 8, 2013
This was my first time in New Orleans and I made the mistake of staying at this hotel. First, aesthetically, the hote is unappealing from the curb. Second, I arrived at 10:30 pm and room service was unavailable. Third, I was not sure I slept on an actual coil mattress. I believe it was some type of foam mattress with layers of padding over it to make it appear to be a pillow top. Fourth, the next morning I went to make up the bed (I prefer a neat bed as I get dressed) and found some sort of bug squashed with some brown stuff on the layers of padding. Fifth, I switched rooms and the new bed was more lopsided than the bed with the bug in it.

The location, hotel and staff were great.Posted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Location! We never had to use our car and we were able to leave it for the whole day even after check out time. The staff was helpful and considerate
Cons: I would have liked softer bath towels, Only coffee and juice were complimentary. Free parking would have made the trip perfect but $28.50 beat $35
Location: Hotel was 3 blocks from Bourbon St. Streetcar lines were close by, which could take you to any of the Districts. $1.25 one way or $3.00 all day pass
We were very pleased with our last minute decision to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown. We had been looking and agonizing over where the best place to stay would be with the added expense of parking, and then knowing which place in the French Quarter wouldn't be run down, noisy and smelly. We got a good rate. It was in comfortable walking distance to the French Quarter and very close to all streetcar lines. Location was great. We did have to pay for valet parking, but it all came out in the wash, because the prices were even higher in the Quarter. This hotel was newly renovated and everything seemed clean, updated, and contemporary. We preferred to come back to a safe, quiet and clean hotel after a night in the French Quarter. They were very accommodating as some of the requests we had made for the location of our room was not received by the front desk. Upon checking in, they were able to relocate our room with a window, a view and on a higher floor as requested, with no problem. Checking in early probably helped. When they found out it was our anniversary get away, the concierge was very kind, delivered us a bottle of wine with a very nice note from the Hotel. and gave us restaurant suggestions. The next day, another concierge spent quite some time showing us places of interest on the map, explaining the street car lines and giving us directions. Our room had two queen beds, refrigerator and microwave.. Beds were too firm but the number of pillows was great

We hadn't been to New Orleans in many years and wanted to see everything. With your help, we took in all the sights. Thank you!

Walking Distance to Bourbon Street!Posted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: The Staff and cleanliness
Location: Location is 2 blocks from Bourbon Street, CVS and Walgreens. Mother's, The Crazy Lobster and the swamp tours are a must do before leaving New Orleans!
Hotel Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The staff was very accommodating, they offered the best restaurants and activities. I was in New Orleans for my boyfriends birthday, it was worth every penny! We plan to visit "The Big Easy" with friends the next time!

Hotel could not have been better.Posted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Cons: Signage from the street.
Location: The French Quarter, the Mississippi Steamboat Cruise, the Swamp Tour, the Plantations Tour, the Aquarium, and the World War 2 Museum are all worth see
Clean, comfortable, quiet, air-conditioned with extremely helpful staff. It was situated just outside the French quarter of New Orleans, so that we did not have all the late night pedestrian traffic and noise, but close enough to walk there with no difficulty. The guest help co-ordinator was well aware of the various attractions and was able to recommend good restaurants and the better of competing attractions. I have already recommended the hotel to friends.

1st time visit to New OrleansPosted Sep 24, 2013
Pros: Location but it was confusing for a couple of drivers of cabs I took with there being 2 Garden Inns located nearby
What a wonderful city to visit and I can wait to come down again. This hotel was nicely located for all of my needs

Two blocks away from French QuarterPosted Sep 17, 2013
Our stay was fine but I wish it would have been in the French Quarter. Also did not like the hotel lobby being on the 11th floor.
