Nice hotel. Easy access to downtown New OrleansPosted Jul 22, 2014
Overall my stay at The Hotel Modern was good. The only two things I didn't like was the little closet space, and no iron & ironing board was in the room.

We booked our hotel room through Expedia and the representative on the phone told us that the hotel accepts pets, but didn't not tell us that for each dog will have to pay an additional $15 fee/night. So, we assumed the pet fee was included in the room. We thought we got a really good deal for a decent hotel ($67/night), but we ended up paying $100 for one night, including the pet fees ($30 extra for what we were originally paid). The breakfast was pretty good. Lots of choices and fresh fruits. The late night check in was pretty lengthy. We are not sure why, considering that we already had our reservation. The bed was very comfortable, but the bathroom walls (tile in the shower) were very dirty. Overall, decent stay, but if you have pets, be prepared to pay an additional $15/night for each pet.

Made my WrestleMania 30 Trip Cozy and Comfortable!Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: It's clean, it's cozy, has a rustic-modern charm to it, and the staff is very friendly and extremely helpful.
Cons: Nothing, for the cost it was everything I needed and then some.
Location: Perfect location. You could easily walk to the Superdome, Convention Center, Garden District, or catch a streetcar a few feet outside the door.
I was in New Orleans for WrestleMania 30 and decided to stay at Hotel Modern. Perfect choice! The hotel is clean and has a rustic-modern coziness to it. It's new, but it doesn't lack that signature New Orleans touch. The frontdesk operates through the night so there's always someone around even when you walk in at 3AM. The bed was comfortable, bathrooms were clean, TV was big with good reception, no faulty or noisy vents, and to top it all off the staff were friendly and very, very helpful. The directions they gave were great, and the restaurants they recommended were awesome. Most of all, the hotel is perfectly situated at the center of everything. Walk a few feet out the door and you can grab a streetcar to Bourbon Street. Walk a few blocks and you're at the Convention Center. I walked to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with ease. Take a turn behind the hotel and you're in the Garden District and Magazine Street. Maybe walk a few steps to the WWII Museum and catch a Hop-On Hop-Off bus to anywhere, especially the French Quarter. All in all, for the price you pay, it's a really good hotel that made my trip comfy and cozy and very memorable. Great place to head back to and rest after the chaos that is a WWE mega-event. If and when I head back to New Orleans, I'll definitely stay at the Hotel Modern again, no doubt about it! :)

Small roomPosted Jul 15, 2014
Room was very small, closet had no door, carpet under bed had crumbs on it (large ones easily seen), no in-room clock, and wake up calls never received. Staff was efficient but slow to respond. Overall I rate this facility average and will not stay there again.

Great hotel close to bourbon streetPosted Jun 30, 2014
We loved most everything about this hotel. The room was spacious, with a kureig coffee maker, flat screen t.v. and huge walk in shower. The bed was super comfortable with down duvet and pillows. Great staff except for the morning check in clerk who seemed extremely rude and not able to do her job with a smile. Other than that everyone else that works for the hotel are very friendly and all the accommodations were modern, clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in New Orleans.

Very near of the convention center.Posted Jun 26, 2014
I find this hotel acceptable and if you make a balance cost/location you are going to find that is worth it. On the other hand, if you party too much and you get real druk you just have to remember how to say Lee circle to the cab driver!!!

Prepaid Disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: The street car was an excellent means of transportation getting around town during our stay for a flat rate of $3 a person can ride the entire day.
This hotel's prepaid reservations lack MUCH to be desired... .poor interior design (NOT A MODERN LOOK) in rooms, front desk or lobby, no weight room or pool, no hotel shuttle and the cost for parking a vehicle is ridiculously expensive! HOUSEKEEPING was poorly done, carpet not vacuum which was evident by an empty chex bag and several white feathers left under the bed from previous customer.

Great hotel - convenient to WWII Museum!Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, easy access to the hotel when driving, and short distance to the WWII Museum and Ogden Southern Art Museum.
Cons: The room should have been double checked more closely for the cleanliness of the bathroom; I found hair in the sink upon arrival, but otherwise clean.
Location: WWII Museum is great; only 2 blocks away! Also the Ogden Art Museum is 2 blocks. It is easy to catch the St. Charles Street Streetcar line here.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a free cocktail; the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They even remembered my name, and called me by name the second day of my stay. Rooms were very comfortable. Very convenient for walking to the WWII Museum, or catching the street car to travel to the French Quarter or Garden District. Several good restaurants are within walking distance - and local pubs as well. I will definitely stay there again, and I've stayed in many New Orleans hotels over the years!
