Great Location, central to the majority of ParadesPosted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: have stayed there prior
Cons: Larger selection of food on menu (chicken fingers)
Hotel restaurant was very disappointing, food selection limited and too rich for the average consumer. Staff seemed put out about being on duty.

Blown away by the hospitalityPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: Beautiful and updated hotel, very comfortable bedding, nice restaurant and bar right in the hotel, and Keurig coffee maker.
Location: Less than 1 mile from the French Quarter, street car stops right in the front of the hotel, WW II museum around the corner, & plenty to eat & drink.
When we checked in at the front desk, someone walked us up to our room to show us around and offered advice on where to go and what to see while we were visiting. It was so nice because it was our first time in New Orleans. The hotel staff couldn't have been friendlier. There was a parade going on while we were checking in, so many of the roads were blocked and we couldn't get to the parking garage. The valet parking attendant actually got in the car with us to get us around the back streets to park so we wouldn't get a ticket. I was beyond impressed with the staff at the Hotel Modern.

Nice hotel downtownPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: How modern it was.
Cons: Better staff..first guy just left without letting me know someone else would be helping me. I guess he was getting off so checking me in wasn't import
Location: Right downtown close to parade routes.
The hotel was very clean and modern loved the room, a bit small but very accommodating.

Exceptionally convenient for Mardi GrasPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Location, a little outside of the Quarter, was excellent. Very convenient for the trolley. Staff were exceptionally friendly and informative
Cons: My only complaint was the room's carpeting. Very sticky to the point I didn't want to be in bare feet.
Location: There are 2 museums literally around the corner; WWII & Contemporary art. I easily took the trolley into the Garden District and Quarter.
We were in New Orleans primarily to meet up with out of state friends. I was totally ignorant that Mardi Gras was more than a one day event. A pleasant surprise, however with parades every day, getting around can be challenging to decide where to go view any of them without feeling like a sardine. Turns out that several parades go right past the hotel. We had the luxury of a front row seat from the hotel's wonderful restaurant. The wait staff were very pleasant & didn't mind at all that we camped at the table. Our waitress indulged us by taking several group photos of us. Our arrival was just as pleasant, we were handed free rum punches, provided with several restaurant recommendations, given parade schedules & oriented to the hotel's amenities. The bar next door is one of the best I've been. The room itself was comfortable, clean and had a nice view. There was little closet space but we made do. The only negative was the carpet, it was very sticky feeling on bare feet.

Not recommendedPosted Feb 23, 2014
If you are looking for a hotel closest to the WWII museum and Lee Circle then this is it. Thats probably the best thing about this hotel. The exterior of this hotel is a bit of an eye sore in mY opinion. Our room was the biggest disappointment. It was so small! The bathroom was almost as big as our room. My husband is a big guy and I felt claustrophobic in there, I can only imagine how he felt. Also, the floor of the bathroom was filthy. It looked like it wasnt mopped in weeks. The carpet in the room was worn out. We also paid for a queen size bed, but our bed was full size at best, very disappointing. There is one restaurant on site that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but I can not comment on the food because we didnt eat there during our stay. It looked nice though from the outside. For a hotel that is named for being "modern", there was absolutely nothing too modern about this hotel besides maybe the reception area. I don't know if they are still under renovations , but I personally think the exterior of the building and the rooms are very outdated. If Im ever Im the New Orleans area again I will pay a little more and book a room closer to the French Quarter. Yea this hotel might be walking distance to the street cars, but I felt like it was far away from some of the nicer attractions in New Orleans.

Will go back!Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Large room with a very comfortable bed.
Location: Close to the Port and a short cab ride (or trolley) to great restruants in the French Quarter.
We booked this hotel because of it's proximity to the Port of NOLA and it exceeded our expectations! Very clean, quiet, and comfortable rooms with a K-cup machine which made it perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us with all our needs.

Very Nice Hip HotelPosted Feb 19, 2014
Spending a week in the Big Easy and I'm glad I chose here. It's a hip place with a helpful staff:) my room was Clean with a soft bed and Big TV! The Location is Great!!! 4 Nice Museums right behind it! The trollie right in front. I could safely walk to Bourbon in less than 10 minutes. Lots of good resturants, coffee and pizza places within a 5 minute walk!!! A Popeyes and circle K across the street! It's kind of on the edge of the hip side of town but I felt safe walking around! The room was a lil bit bigger than European sized, so if u need space the room isn't huge. They have bikes. The restaurant and bar are nice. Very Good Hip Choice:)

Nice hotel close to convention centerPosted Feb 16, 2014
Hotel was alright for the purpose of being with in walking distance of the convention center, but if you do not consider yourself a "hipster" than this may not be the hotel for you.
