"Inexpensive hotel close to the French quarter"
First off if you are expecting a 5 star resort this is not the place for you. With that said, if you are just looking for a place to sleep and shower that is within walking distance to the French quarter this is the place for you. The staff is absolutely fantastic! I've never met nicer people in my life. They were extremely helpful and gave the best tips to us for their beautiful city. Anytime we needed a taxi or any help at all they fast and helpful. You can't beat the price for this place, you save money to do all those fun activities that New Orleans has to offer. When I revisit this fantastic city I plan to stay at the empress hotel again. Thank you for making my trip memorable.

"Never too eatly"
We were allowed to check in at 10:30 a.m., setting the tone for a lovely stay. The staff couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. We were able to get a shower stall for my husband, who has mobility issues. It's an easy walk to the casino, which he also appreciated. We're going back.

More gay-friendly nightlife can be found in Faubourg Marigny and Bywater, which are just downriver from the French Quarter. These neighborhoods are known for their European flair and well-preserved architecture, as well as a plethora of shopping and dining options.
