"Inexpensive hotel close to the French quarter"
First off if you are expecting a 5 star resort this is not the place for you. With that said, if you are just looking for a place to sleep and shower that is within walking distance to the French quarter this is the place for you. The staff is absolutely fantastic! I've never met nicer people in my life. They were extremely helpful and gave the best tips to us for their beautiful city. Anytime we needed a taxi or any help at all they fast and helpful. You can't beat the price for this place, you save money to do all those fun activities that New Orleans has to offer. When I revisit this fantastic city I plan to stay at the empress hotel again. Thank you for making my trip memorable.

"Beautiful boutique hotel with great staff."
We arrived on Easter Sunday and was greeted with smiles and helpful tips.We stored our bags since check in was at 4pm and not 3pm as written. Tiara who checked up in couldn't have been more pleasant and even upgraded us to a beautiful room with a balcony facing Decateur St. Of course, the room also faced the fire department, but fortunately no sirens were heard. ALL the staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Just don't order any room service because the menu in the room does not match what is actually offered, and it is extremely expensive and not worth is.

"Weekend getaway"
I had a wonderful time at the Hyatt. It is a beautiful hotel. You really don't have to leave the facility for anything. The views inside an out are breath taken. It's on my list to treat myself to another stay at this hotel again in the future.

"I give this hotel 4 and half stars"
I was there for the French Quarter music festival and stayed for 7 days and 6 nights. Overall I enjoyed this hotel. The reason why I didn't give the hotel 5 stars was because when I first went into the room, a roach ran across the floor, for me no problem as I simply killed it and threw in the garbage. Now understand New Orleans is known for having a whole lot of bugs everywhere, I am writing this for those people who are picky about that sort of thing. Now let me say that I did not see another bug the rest of my stay, so maybe that bug snuck in at one point before I arrived. Also ask for a room away from any of the vending machines, electrical rooms or hallway air conditioners. I will finish by saying that I had a king size bed which was very comfortable and everything in my room I needed was provided, first class. At the end of my stay the front desk called and offered a wake up call (not many hotels do that unless you ask) and also arranged a taxi to meet me in front of the hotel to go to the airport. The taxi showed up right on time. Also another advantage of staying at this hotel was you didn't get all the noise you would if you stayed right in the French quarter, for those of you who would need to sleep at night.
