“Great Front Staff/ Lousy Room”

We stayed at La Quinta for Mardi Gras 2011. This hotel is appox. 10-15 miles from downtown. The front desk staff was extremly friendly, however when we got to our room it was filthy. The bed sheets had dark red stains and the pillow cases had splatters on them, there were half eaten food containers in the window sill, the lamp shade was broken and laying on the desk, the tables all had a sticky residue on them, the refigerator had a solid block of ice at the top about 4 inches thick and had sticky yellow stuff all over, the shower curtain had yellow stains running down it, the tub and little hairs in it, the desk chair had a thick jelly like substance running down it, crumppled paper, and a dirty coffee pot that I was afraid to use. When I contacted the front desk they were very apologetic and offered to send someone up to clean. When the maid arrived she spoke almost no english and was very rude and nasty. She held a spray bottle in her hand and stated "what dirty?!" as she threw the sheets towards the couch, which I was on. She then sprayed her bottle in the air and glared at me. We ended up leaving the room due to her ruddness and feeling uncomfortable. The front desk was very friendly again and stated that they were sorry but that was the only room available. They would make sure she cleaned it this time. However whenI returned the room, not much was done, and the same sheets were on the bed. I would not stay at this hotel again due to the filthy room.

Area recommendations

If you are going during mardi gras it is worth the extra money to stay in the downtown or bourbon st area. We had to pay $30 for every cab ride and some cabs were quoting $50. This makes it hard if you want to do some shopping during the day and fun at night due to all the cab fair. There is hardly anywhere to park so you cannot drive yourself unless you are prepared to walk for a couple miles. It also adds to the experience to stay closer to the action:)

“Not impressed at all..will never go back”

our toilet was broken, the carpets were dirty , not to mention its SOOOO far from french quarters and its totally isolated from any mode of public transportation will never ever go back

“just what we wanted!”

It was a great stay just what I wanted! - they let us check in early- comfy beds, nice big rooms- smelled fresh- great continental breakfast- in the better part of town then we saw other places- short drive from french quater about 8 min. the only complaint I have was our bed was not made when they came into clean.

“Not Thrilled.”

My trip started when a friend who was also staying there called me and stated they overbooked the hotel and I may not get my room. They allowed my friend to go ahead and check me in. Upon arriving, one of the two front doors didn't work, I ran into it expecting it to open as the other one did. It was never fixed while I was there. I checked into the room and discovered the refrigerator didn't work. We went to the front desk and I asked them if they could get me a cab to go into New Orleans and the manager wrote a number down on a piece of paper and handed it to me. He seemed irritated at having to deal with a customer. Overall, bad experience and I wouldn't stay here again.

“wrong location”

since katrina hit, the area known as new orleans east has virtually died the hotel is located in an area that i am told was growing previously now there is very little around it, not many places to eat, all places of interest are across the bridge and lots of pessimism from the staff pool needed cleaning, breakfast buffet closed at 9 sharp whether people were just walking in or in the process of eating
