Central Location

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Central location in nice part of town
Cons: Basic facilities and housekeeping.
Location: Near to French Quarter and on street car route. Great to take the streetcar for its full trip - only $3 for a day pass. Much less for seniors.
Hotel was pleasant and friendly providing the basics. No food facilities on site, bars rarely open, housekeeping only cleaned the coffee maker once in 5 days.

Nice classic hotel in a good street

The stay was really good, but we stayed in the room 405 and the sofa bed was broke and super uncomfortable. Besides that is safe and nice area.

New Orleans visit

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: We loved the location. Adjacent to a beautiful park. Access to the trolly. Walking distance from either the French Quarter or the convention area.
Cons: Our room was recently renovated, but they were working (and painting) the unit next door. Wi-Fi was often unavailable.
Location: Ride the street car to the Garden District, walk to the French Quarter or to Harrah's Casino
We travelled to New Orleans so that I could attend a conference and tradeshow. My wife had the opportunity to accompany me and to spend some time doing touristy things. I booked the hotel bassed upon location and price.

Lafayette Hotel was a great experience.

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: I liked the fact that it is almost 100 years old. The ambiance took me back in time. I sat in my room wondering what had happened in 100 years.
Cons: Nothing, except continuing to finish the beautiful restoration and remodeling that has begun.
Location: Canal Street & the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, The Aquarium, Bus Tours of New Orleans, The Steamboat Natchez, Trolley car, Harrah's Gaming, etc.
We arrived in New Orleans and from the time that we set foot at the Lafayette Hotel we were treated like royalty. They were very accommodating, helping us with valet parking and getting a luggage cart for us, loading it and delivering and unloading in our room, getting ice for us, more towels....anything we needed. The staff was awesome and helped us with anything we asked for. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel, staff and good customer service. We will always choose to stay at the Lafayette Hotel when visiting New Orleans. They made our experience great!!!

somewhat old fashioned, basically well kept up

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: well located, clean, comfortable
Cons: Better Lighting!
Location: Close to downtown
Would call this hotel good, but not an option here...Not sure if pleasing is appropriate, but would call it more than ok.... Out of the hustle and bustle, pretty well kept up old fashioned decor, but room was dark. No overhead lights and lamps did not really provide enough light. Some difficulty putting make up on in bathroom, and had trouble distinguishing clothing in drawers. Nice sized room, and comfortable.

Great location on St. Charles Avenue.

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: no problems
Location: The Hotel is across the street from a cool coffee shop and BF/ L restaurant. I sat on the sidewalk patio. Only 5 short blocks to Canal Street.
I was upgraded to a suite (by hotel front desk) because Expedia had my name wrong on the reservation. I will certainly stay in the Lafayette Hotel in the future. I am an experienced NOLA traveler.
