Romantic anniversary getaway, great locationPosted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Beautiful setting, great location, helpful staff, free water bottles, daily wine and cheese, the outdoor pool, full kitchen in our room.
Cons: The cleaning staff did not arrive to clean the room until the late afternoon. Also, the breakfast was not very impressive, but hey, it was free!
Location: Easy walking distance to all attractions/restaurants/nightlife in the French Quarter. Cafe Du Monde, Jackson Square, Bourbon St, Frenchmen St, etc
We stayed in a studio suite at Melrose Mansion for our 10th anniversary. Everything about our stay was just about perfect. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and was happy to provide as many free bottles of water as we requested. The pool was a good size and very refreshing on a hot summer day. Free breakfast and wine and cheese every day. Our studio suite had plenty of space, a full kitchen and very large shower. The mansion is located in a beautiful area very close to the French Quarter and the bars on Frenchmen St. I highly recommend it!

Best Historical Hotel ExperiencePosted Jul 13, 2015
We spent three nights here, and were VERY impressed with the quality of the experience we had at the Melrose Mansion. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The pool was a fantastic way to cool off from the July heat in NOLA. The hotel is located a walkable and good distance from the craziness of Bourbon, while being just a few blocks from Frenchmen street (the local's Bourbon street), with its blues bars and artists' market. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

Will stay here again!Posted Jul 1, 2015
Cons: Only cons were they could have put some shelving in the bathroom and the cable was inconvenient as there is no guide or menu, just channel flipping.
Location: French Quarter, 24hr diner/bar with live music, corner market, Frenchman Street.
We loved this place! It's got the charm of the Old South but with sexy-cool style. Location...perfect. Right on the edge of the French Quarter but a just a few blocks from the much better Frenchman Street where locals go. Across the street is a great old diner/bar with live music that serves food all night. There is also a corner market a few blocks away. It's also on a main street (Esplenade) which is easy for cabs to see other parts of this beautiful city. Charm! The pictures say it all. It's the real thing, a southern mansion with history. But the design is very sleek and modern. The bathrooms are like what you'd find in a new 4 star hotel. The pool is great and private behind a wall but very open to the sun and trees - and it stays open all night!! We stayed in the Prince Edward Suite.

PerfectPosted Jun 27, 2015
My husband and I had never been to New Orleans before. We were pleasantly surprised with the Melrose Mansion. It is beautifully restored and well appointed. The staff at Melrose was genuinely friendly and helpful with suggestions. We also enjoyed the pool. We will visit again.

Great hotel with a super staff. Perfect location. Away from the most noisy area and a short walk to everything. Busses and trams are easy. DON'T RENT A CAR. Staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgable about local tours and events. The only down side was an overly soft matress. The hotel was great overall. We'll be back.

Great Hotel & Great LocationPosted Jun 12, 2015
Pros: Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable & the wine, cheese & biscuits in the afternoons was fantastic.
Cons: Breakfast was okay, maybe toast with spreads would have improved the choice availabity.
Location: I liked that we were on the edge of the French Quarter, we loved Buffa's & Port of Call for a great New Orleans experience close by.
We travelled in a large group of eight adults in five rooms staying four nights. First impressions were a Beautiful Boutique Hotel with very attentive and polite staff that helped to make our stay memorable.

Gorgeous hotelPosted May 21, 2015
Pros: The pool and overall look of the hotel were amazing. Cleanliness also very good and majority of staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Cons: Plumbing could be better. Also lighting and storage in room.
Location: Good location out of the noisy central bar area but with a couple of bars/restaurants and convenience store nearby. Only 10-15 min walk to main areas
Spent a fantastic week here - the entrance and pool area will make your jaw drop when you arrive. Room was very spacious and comfortable despite plumbing problem with sink. Staff are in the main absolutely lovely...would definitely stay again

Some AdvicePosted Apr 23, 2015 on Hotels
Great room right next to the pool which in NOLA means nude swimmers at all hours of the night. Nude isn't bad but nude bathers are always loud and not very good looking. Internet was the best I have had in a hotel. Administrative error didn't have us checking out early but removed us from the maid's list so our $450 dollar a night room was not made up for our last evening's stay. Would have liked access to a microwave. Had to always ask to have the breakfast supplies restored regardless of when we showed up. I like the proximity to the quarter and the great stuff just east. Staff was always friendly and responded to requests. So really all the late night noise was the big issue. Get a room off the pool!

Gorgeous spot in a great location! It is within walking distance to Bourbon St. yet far enough away to not be too noisy. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are clean and cozy.
