Stylish but ultimately inconvenient, few amenities, short of basics like towels, coat hangers, glasses, and sub-standard continental breakasts. But architecture is fun.

Beautiful secluded placePosted Jan 4, 2015
Pros: Clean, fresh, nice sized rooms with tall ceilings.
Cons: The breakfast is very simple with cereals and yogurt. I think that's fine but not sure if others expected hot food.
Location: Right on the edge of the French Quarter so within walking distance to it all!
A beautiful B&B. Clean and refreshing surroundings, right on the edge of the French Quarter. The staff was friendly and very very helpful. We enjoyed out time at the hotel!

Beautiful propertyPosted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: Quiet, clean and comfortable. The location offers the best of everything for a true New Orleans experience.
Cons: Everything was great.
Location: Bars - Port of Call, Buffa's. Stop in and have a drink, the locals are very friendly and informative about their city.
Just stayed two nights, after first night, wished we had booked for a third. This was our sixth trip to New Orleans, and we have always stayed in the French Quarter or Business District. This was a totally different, and much better experience. At this hotel, you get a more intimate, neighborhood experience of New Orleans - very romantic hotel for couples. The hotel borders the French Quarter, so you can walk there, yet escape it as well. Great staff, very comfortable room, light morning breakfasted offered. This is a very clean and quiet hotel, too cold to use the pool, but the courtyard with pool looked very welcoming - nice place to read or have a drink to relax. Great neighborhood bars, eateries and a convenience store all within short walking distance. We rented a car for this trip but really didn't need to. Would definitely stay here again, our new favorite New Orleans Hotel.

Pros: Location is great, beautiful exterior.
Cons: Room lacks enough furniture. Breamfast is meager, needs fruit, toaster and bagles or bread.
Location: Location is great, in walking distance to all places in the french quarter.
No place to put clothes in drawers, missing table, couch. Plenty of room but not fully furnished.

Beautifully presented boutique hotel in a quiet location only five minutes walk from all the action in the French Quarter. Helpful and friendly staff too.

Kleineres Hotel am Rande des french quarterPosted Dec 10, 2014
Pros: Schickes Design, geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Lovely hotel, but could use brighter lighting.Posted Dec 10, 2014
Cons: Brighter lighting and an elevator.
Location: Fairly close to all the action.
Could use more cups, brighter lighting and waste baskets.

Great long romantic birthday weekend!Posted Dec 4, 2014
Cons: One day after cleaning, the maid did not properly lock the door and so it was unlocked. We mentioned it, the staff promptly apologized. No harm...
Location: Frenchman Street is only 4 blocks up on Esplanade and actually closer and better than Bourbon street. Lil Dizzy's restaurant had THE best brunch!
We LOVED LOVED LOVED staying here, came for my birthday weekend. Hotel/mansion is absolutely beautiful and elegant. Great neighborhood, close to everything; Frenchman St., Bourbon St., Canal Street - all walkable. Hotel staff helpful without being overbearing. Small fridge for water, drinks, etc. Small room, but again, elegant. Coffee, Cucumber & mint water, apples always available. Wine and Cheese hour (we missed this, but nice it was offered). Next time we are in New Orleans, we will definitely staff at Melrose. THANK YOU!

Good location, but...Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: The location, just on the border of the French Quarter
Cons: Patch and paint the walls! And use an insecticide that doesn't smell so strong.
From the outside, this place is lovely. However. the hallways and even the elevator smelled strongly of insecticide. It was very noticeable every time we entered and left our room--so they must spray all the time. Our room (studio with kitchen) was spacious, and would have been great except that there were huge patches on the walls where the plaster and paint were blistered and peeling! They assured us that "it wasn't mold"...but how difficult is it to simply scrape, patch and re-paint? The patches were in the living room/kitchen area as well as the bedroom. Very unsightly. The in-room coffee maker was stocked only with decaf coffee--they said they were out of regular. Since our room was in another building (two buildings away from the breakfast area) they offered to bring a carafe of coffee up to our room in the morning. Which would have been great, except it came 30 minutes later than promised, so we ended up going down to the breakfast room to get coffee or we would have been late to our meetings.
