Good location, but...Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: The location, just on the border of the French Quarter
Cons: Patch and paint the walls! And use an insecticide that doesn't smell so strong.
From the outside, this place is lovely. However. the hallways and even the elevator smelled strongly of insecticide. It was very noticeable every time we entered and left our room--so they must spray all the time. Our room (studio with kitchen) was spacious, and would have been great except that there were huge patches on the walls where the plaster and paint were blistered and peeling! They assured us that "it wasn't mold"...but how difficult is it to simply scrape, patch and re-paint? The patches were in the living room/kitchen area as well as the bedroom. Very unsightly. The in-room coffee maker was stocked only with decaf coffee--they said they were out of regular. Since our room was in another building (two buildings away from the breakfast area) they offered to bring a carafe of coffee up to our room in the morning. Which would have been great, except it came 30 minutes later than promised, so we ended up going down to the breakfast room to get coffee or we would have been late to our meetings.

Beautiful small hotel on the edge of the actionPosted Nov 21, 2014
We loved the melrose mansion. The room was large and the marble bathroom was beautiful. Staff were very kind, even coming outside to greet us and direct us in at 3:30am and gave good directions and recommendations for the French quarter. The neighborhood was quiet at night but still within walking distance of all the French quarter activities and Frenchman street. Would definitely stay again.

Elegant Manor in the French QuarterPosted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: the character of the rooms and quality of service
Location: Frenchman Street, French Market, Bourbon Street
Amazing hotel right at the edge of the French Quarter. Makes you feel like you are experiencing a truly authentic old world New Orleans experience. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and provided personal concierge service that went above and beyond. Easy walk into the French Quarter and to Frenchman Street in Marginy. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great facility near everything of interest!Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: The blend of modern conveniences with plantation atmosphere.
Cons: Don't change a thing!
Location: Hotel on edge of French Quarter but close to RTA bus stop. Frenchmen Street offers live jazz and Bourbon Street within walking distance.
Hotel is absolutely fabulous. It is beautiful with modern conveniences yet maintains that plantation atmosphere. On the edge of the French Quarter but 2 short blocks from bus stop. Buy all day pass for $3 and ride bus then trolley to all areas downtown including garden district, French Quarter, Cafe du Monde, etc. The hotel was much more than we expected. The staff was very efficient and helpful. New Orleans is a great place and I would recommend the dinner/jazz cruise aboard the Natchez. Our next trip to New Orleans will include another stay at the Melrose Mansion!
