A fantastic find! Staff were very helpful and professional. Room was very comfortable and inviting. If I return to New Orleans, this will definitely be where I'll stay!

Old world charm

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The history and location.
Cons: The breakfast could be improved.
Location: close to markets, tram stop, tourist spots and Bourbon Street. Local pub called "Port of Call" do great hamburgers and cocktails.
Beautiful refurbished mansion in the French quarter of New Orleans. Large room with a kitchenette, bathroom very small. Staff were helpful when needed but generally stayed in the background. Old nostalgic music drifts through the hotel creating a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was basic but filling. Be prepared to carry your luggage up steep steps to the first floor - no elevators. Pool area was very inviting.

Better than the pictures

I was impressed with the perfect mixture of old and new. I didn't want a sleek chain hotel for my stay but did want extreme comfort. As soon as I entered I was in love with the balance of old New Orleans with quality upgrades. This is a must see & stay on my list.

Great location, charming hotel, amazing staff

Posted May 29, 2014
The hotel is beautiful, full of New Orléans charm and close to 4 great neighboorhood: French Quater, Marigny, CDB and Tremé. The staff is very welcoming and helpful in making reservations for restorants and tours and ensuring we make the most of our stay in the city. The pool was great after a long day walking under the hot sun. We had an amazing stay at Melrose Mansion! Thanks to Melanie and the rest of the staff!

Wonderful place, close enough to the action but far enough from the filth!

Perfect location to enjoy French Quarter!

Posted May 14, 2014
Pros: Location, room, staff, amenities, pool. They've got it all!
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing!
Location: Five blocks from Frenchmen Street where you can choose from many different styles of music even on a Sunday night! A few short blocks from Quarter.
Melrose Mansion was absolutely perfect! From the staff to the facilities, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Within a short walk from Bourbon Street and all of the French Quarter, yet on the edge so you don't get all the tourist foot traffic. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will book a room here if I get opportunity to come back to New Orleans!

Disappointing.

Posted May 12, 2014
Pros: Charming and well maintained.
Location: At the edge of the French quarter.Be prepared to walk.
Two words describe this establishment: unfriendly and parsimonious, meaning stingy. Food is doled out, a few danishes at a time for the buffet breakfast (they don't want you to pig out maybe). So you need to ask the one person in the office who is ever so busy on the computer, and made to feel you are imposing.....same for afteroon wine and cheese which is one hour and not a minute longer....

Comfy B&B in residential area

Posted May 3, 2014
Pros: Character
Location: Fairly easy walk to most activities
Had a wonderful time at Melrose Mansion. It is very comfortable and has lots of character. Our room was very large and the bed was very comfortable. A little more light might be helpful. The staff were very helpful with suggestions about activities and restaurants.

Great location to all the fun but perfectly quiet distanced from the craziness of the French Quarter
