Like New Orleans itself; faded beautyPosted May 29, 2014
The Prytania Oaks is a hotel cobbled out of unrelated buildings near to the Prytania Park. The rooms are decently appointed, comfortable and clean. But by no means luxurious. It has an almost European feeling of dignified fatigue. If only the continental breakfast were more European...instead, it's diner coffee and instant grits.

Very nice & pleasant hotelPosted Apr 25, 2014
A nice, quiet, clean hotel choice at a reasonable price in the (very) lower Garden District. Convenient to streetcar (currently under construction) to French Quarter or Upper Garden District.

Friendly hotel, great locationPosted Apr 19, 2014
Pros: Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - answered all our questions and made some great recommendations
Cons: The breakfast was lovely - continental - but if you want a cooked breakfast, you'll have to look elsewhere!
Location: Public transport to the downtown area was a short walk away or, as we did, you can enjoy a 30 minute walk into town instead.
Stayed for four pleasant nights, peaceful area, well connected, would definitely use this hotel again if we ever revisit New Orleans!

Nice hotel. Easy walk to the convention center.Posted Mar 31, 2014
My wife and I were in town for a convention at the convention center. This was a perfect place to stay. Free parking, and an easy walk to the convention. Several colleagues said they paid double to stay in a big name hotel with half the service and not as nice of room.

Great Location for Mardi Gras and Garden DistrictPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: location for parades, Mardi Gras and Garden District just a short bus or trolley ride
Location: Most parades were on St. Charles one block away, Bourbon St 1.5 miles east and the Zoo was 4 miles west. Trolley was one block north and the bus south
The bed was very comfortable and the hot water in the shower was awesome, We were in room 268. The breakfast was OK, no eggs or meat.

Location greatPosted Feb 10, 2014
Comfortable and quiet, at least when we were there. Staff was helpful, hotel is close to the trolley for going east and west, also just a couple of blocks from Magazine St. Very good price for the area. Take a "free walking tour" through the Garden District - well worth it.

Historic lodging-walk to St. Chas streetcarPosted Jan 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
High ceilings, large bath. Close to Garden District mansions and shops. Staff is friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast included waffles, yogurt, breads, and cereal. More breakfast options would have been appreciated, like hard boiled eggs, cheese, or fresh fruit. The Oaks does not have a front desk, it has a keycard accessible gate. We didn't have a street view, but we felt quite secure in our gracious 2nd floor back apartment. We would stay again!
