A continuing favorite in the Quarter

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Location. Quality.
Cons: A quiet, interior bar would be such a nice option. The only bar in the lobby area has a loud piano during cocktail time.
Location: Central to the best restaurants in the French Quarter. The hotel is closer to Canal on Bourbon so the raunchiest of that famous street is beyond it.
Lots of construction and an unexpected boil water notice during this stay prohibits a regular review. The hotel did their best to overcome a most unusual situation.

Nice location on french district

But hotel staff are not so friendly as an old staff with bad habits . The room and corridors needs to be refreshed.

Does not offer functional wifi with the room even though the ad states it does. Hotel was undergoing renovations which made some amenities unavailable. They did not inform me of this when the booking was made

Front door right off burbon street

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Front door right off burbon street. Our room was the 5th floor and the window overlooked burbon. Noise was minimal. Small room but nice with a bit old charm.

The Staff was WONDERFUL!

Posted Jul 11, 2015
Pros: The Staff!
Location: The location is great, bit I'd encourage you to explore beyond the Quarter. Take a cab over to Frenchman Street or head Uptown!
I want to say at the top of this that the Sonesta Staff were WONDERFUL! But, I was that one poor guest who had a series of little calamaties that made my visit to the Sonesta a bit of a disappointment. My bathroom hadn't been cleaned very well -- there was hair in the tub, need I say more? When I tried to pull the drapes, the rod came off in my hand. My tv didn't work -- no signal. Anthony, at the front desk, was a model of everything that embodies exceptional customer service, but, by this point, I was a bit annoyed. As I'd arrived late in the day, I decided to order a room service burger for dinner...and it was less than good, too. I took a picture of the veggies topping it...they were unidentifiable. I finally just gave up and decided to go to bed...and found that, although they'd obviously been laundered, my sheets were stained and one of my pillows had someone else's blood on it...and, then the folks in the next room began what was a very lively night in their squeaky bed whose headboard banged against my wall. What a night...

Massey, we are disappointed to hear of the issues you encountered and sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. This is certainly not indicative of the manner in which we intend to operate our facility. Thank you for recognizing the attentive, friendly employees that made your stay special, specifically Anthony. We hope you will consider giving us another try in the future.

Wouldn't have booked if I knew it was under constr

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: The location and staff
Cons: The renovations are definitely needed.
Location: Right on bourbon street, everything is within walking distance from the hotel.
The hotel was very conveniently located and the hotel staff was extremely helpful. The only real issue is it was under construction. Seeing the construction wasn't an issue and navigation around any construction wasn't an issue. The issue with the construction was the noise. We were on the 5th floor and the noise above us was nearly deafening, is sounded like someone was trying to bore through our ceiling. We traveled all day Saturday and wanted to take a nap before going out for dinner but couldn't because of the noise. Didn't hear it Sunday, I assume the construction crew was off. We wanted to sleep in Monday before flying out, but was woken multiple times due to the noise and couldn't get back to sleep. It should have been stated that this hotel was under construction during the booking process. I would have picked a different hotel if I knew it was under construction. Also, at the expense of sounding petty, the shower drain was clogged. The renovations look great and needed, but I would have preferred to stay after the renovations were complete.
